Biakwa:

My brother sitcom,

Please share your thoughts now,i know you also stay in Ireland. But my question is will all this suffering even my immediate boss that is earning close to 500k relocate to Canada and many more... If you think relocating is for you to have a sweet life then wake up from slumber , it is only for your kids to have as that is the reason 99% reason people relocate.... One of the big banks ED' s just move his family abroad,do you think it's money NO, it's for the future of the children my brother.....
My advice to our brothers that are planning to come back please make hast as Osibanjo is currently giving out N10,000 loan to individuals,N30,000 to entrepreneur ....3million jobs waiting untapped but your father must be a senator to get one. Nigeria is really flowing with milk and honey currently I think maybe because of the election next year... Waiting till next year maybe too late in terms of returning home....

Haaa my brother, I won't talk O! The insults I received alone recently from some kids in one Investment thread for saying fact without insulting anyone, are enough for me. As a matter of fact, one of two Nairalanders that I met on nairaland here, that I assisted through God to come Ireland was disappointed seeing me replying some kids insulting me instead of ignoring them. No be me downgrade myself? grin

Let whoever wish to go Ireland decide that on their own. No be by force to come Ireland..after all it's a choice. What really matters is that you do what you think is right for yourself, what you believe in. Just pick a goal, a goal you truly want to achieve. As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.

But it would have been more honourable I'd he did post the audio or simply do a spy Hiro or glasses recording of the above said statement.

If ganduje could easily denied what what seen after watching himself live on YouTube..doing the needful.. Even went to court over same..

How do we believe that saraki did made those statements
Or is another political propaganda by an APC know paid agent..

Am not saying this not saraki..

Only saying..this not enough evidence..in any competent court of law..anywhere in the world..

It can easily be manufactured doctored..or even. Mimicked.

Please op

Should do the needful and post a video link to the above propaganda..

Ganduje was live and seen..

Campaign starts next week..

This can easily pass for a propaganda.... Wetin Yoruba the call first attack.

I see that some folks intentionally or unintentionally want to derail this sub. For the past few days, I have noticed name calling, insults and pride on this sub. We must not forget that our forum was started by Feelamong on Feb. 24, 2012 for the purpose of helping folks understand and invest in NTB. Today I am a beneficiary of Feelamong’s ingenuity. It will be nice if we keep this forum for NTB.

For those talking about inflation and saving in dorm accounts, you can start a sub on inflation and I know many folks here be willing to subscribe.

Few years back I flipped all my Usd to naira at $/492 and invested all in treasury bills at 18% interest rate for 364 days. Today it’s $/360. When I flipped $ to ₦, some of my friends flipped ₦ to $ predicting $/1000. They said naija was going to burn down but the good Lord did not allow our country to burn down. No body knows tomorrow. I could also have been at loss and still can if ₦ depreciates a lot in future.

My point is that this sub exists to encourage Nigerian young people to cultivate the culture of saving and for me NTB is a zero risk way to achieve that.

Please let’s keep this forum only for NTB investment and please stop all personal attacks. We are all here to learn from each other. Blessings folks.

Your point is exactly what some of us were trying to pass across before some people apply emotions and took it personal simply because some people didn't agree with their opinion whereas others didn't even ask them to agree with their opinion too. The greatest deception we suffer is from our own opinions. Thank you for your advice.

You hit the nail on the head!!

There are many factors that impact the price of financial assets - and in different ways. Educating yourself about this will position you to make better investment decisions. Every financial asset is useful and using the knowledge you have to best position yourself in the market is all you can do.

While there are people that changed their dollars to naira at N160 and have now lost money, someone else exchanged their naira to dollars at N160 and made some nice profits. Similarly, there are those who bought dollars a year ago at N365 and kept in their dom account. Today dollar exchange rate is N360. If you had invested that money in Tbills instead of buying dollars, you would have been much better off. Stock market is another example - NSE was one of the best performing indices last year with 42% return - however, all those gains have essentially been wiped out this year.

The point is that you need to understand what makes these assets move in price and be on the right side of the trade. Now, this is no easy task and if any of us knew all the answers, we probably will not be in this forum anyway. All you can do is to educate yourself so you can make informed decisions that will increase the chances of you being on the right side of the trade. Good luck investing!

E go better for you jor.. You sabi well cheesy

Bottom line for everyone I think should be it is important to invest your time and money in financial and economic education.

There are many online courses on investing and portfolio management which will teach you the different asset classes, interest rates, inflation, currency devaluation and how all these factors affect investment decisions and how to properly allocate your funds among different asset classes.

More often than not what separates the successful investors from the rest are education and experience. At least you have control over how much education you get.

Knowledge and Understanding will never cease from you. 3 gbosa for you !!! grin

hias2012:

Good analogy. Good to diversify, and well done folks. But what none has hinted is at what "time" one converts his/her dollars to Naira in order to make profit. In 2016 when the exchange rate skyrocketed was partly because of scarcity of dollars. Banks put a cap on how much dollars you could spend off your dorm account whilst abroad. For the most part, withdrawing in Nigeria wasn't even as easy as the banks cried they didn't have dollars to issue out. I guess this was the case whether you wanted to buy off the counter or withdraw from your dorm account. Hence the black market rate headed far North. And this is the reason people matained warehouses and Ikoyi flats as their dorm account for easy access. When we analyse it's good we highlight the pros and cons. The reason majority invest in TB is because they are sure of their rates, interest and capital and the "time". If you stack your dorm account, which is good, but who says or knows when exchange rate would go again far up and juicy enough at which point you decide to sell? This is not known by anyone. We've probably had like the 2016 experience twice since 1999 or thereabout. Many people died while waiting.

That said the second issue is that everybody is not the same. Some are more risk adverse than others. Some would dare the risk with the hopes of higher returns, and we know that only a percentage of this actually make their money - make it big while others lose evrything or die due to hypertension. But those who like it small, and are careful investing in zero-risk ventures are free from the above hassles, they ALL make their money albeith surely and steadily.

The third is that it is not TB rate that determines inflation rate but the reverse. Hence the fluctuation. So those praying for higher TB rate should know. Higher inflation, higher TB rate and we actually don't pray for this. We pray intlation rates keep going down. So if you have money and you don't know the sure profitable business or venture to invest in, keep investing in TB. However, make sure you don't eat all the interest, make sure part of it is reinvested otherwise with rising inflation the actual worth of your money is reducing over time if you EAT all the interest.

So far all the analysis make a good read for me, and this forum has to be lively to educate and as well to thrill.

Yepahhhhh see knowledge... No issue based conversations with single narrative replaced with emotions and personal opinion. Honestly we need people like you here and on MF's thread.

Mama Nkechi, please give this man two cold bottles of Big Stout and a plate of Nkwobi. God bless you jare.. That's it but watch the indomie generations masturbating on this again. Just watch. cheesy

Just ignore them and do your thing. They are plenty on nairaland and they even know better than CBN. Lol Imagine those defense approach grin. Initially it was "Risk'' and now the story has changed. There is a significant difference between advising someone about diversification and initiating someone into negativity /false claim. The now diversification is a poor attempt to divert attention from the first point of fact violators. Basically majority of Treasury Bills investors have their portfolio, including myself, such as Mutual Funds, e.t.c. But that's not the point raised before. But the story has suddenly changed. We all know how to throw fufu or eba into our mouth and at the same pretend nothing is in our mouth.. grin.

I don't blame them at all because I was once in their shoes. But let me tell you something, when you’re trying to solve problems, negative people will always come up with a reason it won’t work. They have this believe that their opinion should shake your reality. So, rather than participate in their negative conversation, just avoid them. If TB is your only single inv account and if you can afford it invest big on TB and you will smile. Don’t let anyone mess up your masterpiece. Failure and Loss will never be our portion and we will all never be part of them. If you cannot be positive, then at least, be quiet.
