Gunmen suspected to be political thugs have killed a man identified as Nweke Peter, at a polling unit in Ezza Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, IGBERETV reports.

The deceased's brother, Sampson Oko Nweke, who is the Ebonyi State chairman of the Human Rights Defenders of Nigeria, (HURIDE), said the incident happened during the governorship and state House of Assembly elections at Ogboji ward on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

The activist said he and others managed to escape when the armed thugs invaded the polling units but his brother was not so lucky as the gunmen beat him to a coma.

I barely come on here cos this place is mo longer what it used to be but in I want to say something about this GRV case.
I think LP should have chosen someone like Ambode instead, secondly I don't think enough background check was done on him.
He's a young man yes, but lacks in a lot of areas especially emotional maturity and I don't blame him. He was raised by a single young woman which is a tragic thing for every young boy. A girl can't raise a man, they simply can't and in an effort to fill a void left by the father damage the boy's psychology. You see how he's always expressing himself emotionally, those past tweet is testament to this and he kinda talks a bit too much in an undiplomatic way too.
Thirdly I'd say APC as a party and it's members/supporters aren't interested in playing fair, it's always win at all cost. This young man has been undeservedly profiled by his own kinsmen despite being a true Lagosian cos APC saw a loophole and took advantage. Who can say where Igbo people gathered and said Lagos is a no man's land? This thing I have heard before but nobody ever took with a pinch of salt so how come all of a sudden it is used a basis for propaganda? APC infiltrated LP movement and started making comments that 'll turn the Yorubas against the Igbos. It's a tactic that worked so well aided by GRV stupid tweets in the past. I'll say again that if Ambode took the LP form Sanwo Olu would have started packing his bag already which for me I think would have been the best candidate.
Now look at the amount of damage this politicians that care about nobody but themselves have done to the fragile relationship between two tribes that can't really do without each other as far as Nigeria exist. Igbos planning to take over Lagos statement is just so dumb, like how's that even possible? Geographically it's not feasible in anyway which also not making sense when they say Igbos said Lagos is a no man's land when Lagos is in the South west. APC keeps using us against us to get what they want. It was same when Igbos were threatened to be thrown into the lagoon by Oba of Lagos. I don't understand why and how we can't see how they using people as pawn. Femi will still marry Amaka n I'll still marry my beautiful Tosin, my family accepts her wholly. I speak Igbo and Yoruba fluently. I speak Hausa but not fluently.
Lagos election has set a bad tone of what the next 4 years will look like.
Nigerians are not ready to move Nigeria forward, I don't see any greatness in this country with all this seed of hatred and division in this country.
