I have used Ajax extenders in the past and there wasnt issues. Now Im trying to use it again but I have big problems (small to you guys).

I have my Ajaxtoolkit tab already in my Vs 2008 toolbox but I cant apply d extender to any control e.g. Button. Ordinarily I should have an arrow that leads me to "Add Smart Tag" but the arrow isnt showing and each time I right-click to "Show Smart tag", the option is always disabled.

Please what do I need to do.

Running to SQL would not solve the problem because SQL has its challenges too.

But SQL is faaaaaaaaaaarr beta than Access, but dont consider running to SQL cos of the challenge, get this solved then migrate to SQL

You must create a setup file nfor your app (u may use Aplication deployment wizard)

you must install this setup on all worstations from where u want to access the application.

Share a folder on the host system and put the .exe and your Access file. Your connection must have read , "Provider = Microsoft Jet Ole DB 3.51 , " & App.path & "\yourdb.mdb".

Other systems must connect to the .exe in the shared folder and NOT the one on their system (remember uv run the setup on the workstation). \if u get confused all the more, dont hesitate asking again. I use it very well

But later, u'd see the necessity of making the wheels again. You may need to add ur menu name, form names,role id and etc into a table say usr_access in ur DB and completely manage the distribution of priviledges urself.

This implies that you're going to create a form to: create Users, assign roles to them (from a set of created roles).

You'll kip at least 2 tables to get this done. A table would kip all ur menu items and their ids, the other would keep role_id and menu_id,

The moment a user logs in with his/her [id], use querry to fetch his priviledges i.e. menu items from the [roles] table, then use some vb syntax to display just those items and he sees only those menu items.

I wouldnt know if VB.Net uses Session() as does ASP;it would have helped on one side.

Salamsy aint sure these guys really understand your needs, perhaps I, too. 88 hours with ADO.NET might not fetch u this. There are 2 ways:

1. You can save/retrieve image directly into/from a table in ur SQL db (the image must have been converted to binary type).

2. You can also save the path or filename of the JPEG images as normal strings (Varchar); this is much easier and looks like what ur querry was driving at.

Option 1 is more advanced and seems a little more complicated; but it's actually the real life thing. There has been arguments about which is better from professionals' point of view and they raise sensible points.

Have it at the back of ur mind that saving image in ur database contributes immensely to the rapid growth of ur DB size.

And, Is ur app an Enterprise one or get-me-on?
