Pls camera flash especially from a smartphone isn't good for a baby at all. If u have to use flash it must be quite a distance from baby. Flash light can cause blindness in babies. That ain't our portion in Jesus name, Amen.

Pls mamas in the house help me out. My baby clocked one month on 6th but he is yet to start seeing things clearly. Pls should i be worried? Am a ftm.
Babies at one month still have a fuzzy vision. They can detect light, movements, can focus on near objects about 8-12" away. They can make eye contact that u might still be doubtful about. Once baby's eyes respond to external stimuli like light, motion et al then baby can c. But I have loads of respect for a mother's intuition- so if u think sthg is wrong, pls see yo pediatrician ASAP. It's better to find out u are wrong n have peace than otherwise.

Cheers

Hi beautiful people. Pls what's the best way to treat my 7 months baby's cough in this hot weather?
Does it sound like a normal cough?? The mucousy type, that is. If baby is feeding, drinking, playing, sleeping n breathing well, then as diffy as it sounds, it will resolve by itself.

All u can do is symptom relief:
1) get a cool mist humidifier- my personal best
2) a non medicated saline drop can help relieve dried up n stuffy nose
3) steam inhalation: just get a bowl of hot water n have baby inhale the steam
4) vapour rub: a drop or 2 of eucalyptus oil on baby's bib where he can inhale also helps
5) give baby loads of fluid: keep baby well hydrated

Whilst a lot has been said about OTC cough syrups, I am personally not a fan/advocate of it.

If cough is persistent n accompanied by high body temp, breathlessness, green snot et al, then see your pediatrician ASAP. Cough can also be a sign of something serious. Most times it is just mere cough though.

Cheers

Please mama i need recommendations for treatment of diarrhea for my 6 months old baby. She has been pooing after every feed for 2 days now. Thanks
If the frequency of poop has markedly increase then u might be right that it's diarrhea. If on solids, she might have eaten sthg that doesn't sit well with her tums. Just breastfeed more/ formula feed as norm. Give loads of fluid but no juices pls- definitely not for baby- and not by u if breast feeding, likewise no spicy, sugary or fizzy stuffs. No foods that can trigger diarrhea. Give more starchy bland foods like potatoes, rice cereal, carrots et al. It will clear up by itself, but watch out for dehydration. If u notice any sign of mild dehydration then give ors asap.
All the best dear

Mama's good evening, pls I intend introducing foods like frisocream for my lo and some foods when he gets to 4 month. He possets a lot (throwing up of breast milk). I was told when I introduce solids that is when he will stop. His own is so bad that I can't even take him out and stay long. We change cloths up to 3 times in church before service is over and the bibs are not helping too. He will be 3 months on the 10 of this month.
pls I need food suggestions so that I can start getting them before then.
My babies spits up a lot too...at some point I was suspecting reflux but thanks to God it's just spit-ups...the boy has outgrown his but my lil madamé on top still carry go...though not as much as b4. We use abt 8-10 bibs a day for her. As long as your boy is gaining weight don't trouble yourself. If u can do 4 months then just try n finish the race. Giving him cereals won't stop spit-ups, he will outgrow it as his digestive system matures. Spit ups looks much, like they ve given back all the milk they took but, in actual fact isn't much at all. But if not gaining weight then you need to see your paediatrician, cos then it might be more than possetting.

If you have totally made up your mind on cereals at 4mths, there are cereals for that age...but don't know the names. Other sabi mamas will help out.
Cheers!

dear mothers.. good morning to y'all. I had my DS two months ago through a c/section... my tummy isn't very big but what can I do for it to go back completely and I have a little stretch mark on it. what can I apply on it... a ftm needs help. thanks
It's never too late to bind your tummy. Get a good tummy binder and use 8hrs a day. Avoid cold drinks, if u can stick to warm/hot drinks. Breast feed like there is n tmrw n u will be amazed at number of calories u will burn per feed not even day. Make healthy food choices.

Hello beautiful mothers Hw re ur lovelies doing,,,am here again o pls my boy sucks as if am peak milk factory,I don't lactate well so I drink moringa tea and it helps what & what can I take again to lactate properly.... Biko make Una answer me o.
Moringa caps works more than tea. I am breast feeding twins and take loads of water, I hate pap but it's now my by force favourite n I take mother's milk tea. Different things work for different ppl. Things that aids lactation are:
Fenugreek
Moringa
Blessed thistle
Nuts like cashew, almonds
Pap
Raisins
The best of all is WATER.
All the best.

Hello sis, it's been a while & my memory is a bit fuzzy but i can't remember having constipation problem cos the golden morn wasn't the only meal, it was just the primary cos at that stage, they are still a handful & feeding them nor dey easy....... but i know :

..i didn't use much milk,

...We did amala & ewedu + crayfish & fish,

....We did soft boiled eggs, rice, almost any kind of food..

Squeezed oranges & lots & lots of water also ribena as well...

I learnt from my baby friendly class that little ones' palates are adaptive & we should from 6 months begin to feed our babies bits & pieces of anything we eat as staple to get them acquainted. ....

Baby K clocked 6mths last sunday & I've tried to introduce Amala to him 2ce now but na squeezey squeezey face tinz, e nor get choice, e must wack am, na patience...

BTW... Ogi is fantastic but a lazy die.. tongue

Sometime during immunization last year, some pediatricians/ doctors came and gave a talk about giving paracetamol to babies before immunization. They said it's not right and it interferes with the injections.
Have anyone else heard this?
Yes that to an extent is true as the jury is still out on it. The bliv is it's better to give when and if needed and not as a precautionary measure. The pharmacists believe it reduces the strength of the drug. I am with them on this and refused it for my kids. My girl developed a bit of high body temp after their 14 weeks vaccines but it went down after a couple of hours. Was able to manage it without any drugs- thanks be to God.

Cc: Goldmine, sayoberry, doubledouble
My girl is faster than her brother...sitting unsupported now whilst the bro is even jus managing to sit with support. I don't advice comparing kids...as long as he is milestones that is what counts. He doesn't have to be as fast as anyone, let him do things at his own pace. Cheers

Hey Mama. Had asked after you in the pregnancy thread much earlier after I observed you'd been away for so long. How are you and your LOs doing? Good to have you back.

About the combination of breastfeeding and formula without water, it also works for my 2 months+2wks old twins. They don't take water and are not constipated. I actually attempted to give them on 2 occasions. The girl rejected it and threw up the little that managed to pass through her throat while she was crying. The boy took but I didn't give after those 2 attempts and observed it didn't affect them negatively.

Like you said observation is the key. I could never have tried excluding water with my 3 older kids back then. Recipe for constipation big time! Depends on what works for each baby.
Mum twins how now?? I feel so ashamed, lemme go buy 6 yards ankara to cover my face. I actually started my BS specifically cos u asked for it...it's still in my draft unfinished...so sorry...thank God for safe delivery...

Am doing ebf for my twins and so far it's working...but lemme confess my ebf is for selfish reasons. I went from size UK6 to UK10, my best bet ryt now is breast feeding as I don't have time for gym right now n it's working. They ve not had water for 4.5 months and there's been no constipation for a day- all thanks to God. My sis twins were more formula fed and didn't have water for 6 months- no constipation. If formula is properly prepared the right way, there's no need for extra water except the climate u live in is very hot.

U are a strong super hot mama o...5 kids at a time?? How do u do it?? It's been very easy not to say otherwise cos I have no help- my mums are old in their late 70s and 80s- so it's just hubby n moi. God has been very faithful. Will try to come in more often.

Kisses to the twins...cheers

What are you saying huh huh U sha want to put mouth and be noticed. Okay, I haf seen you and you can have your medal. now you can jump pass my comment and waka Biko? undecided

Why not go to pages 441 and 442 and address other mothers that suggested the same thing to the lady.
@helovesme, pls take it easy...am sure no one is trying to attack you... As per formula measurement, it is advisable to to go with the direction on the can of formula except, otherwise stated. From what you said about Aptamil, there is the option to reduce or increase a lil, this is not so for other formulas. Not giving enough scoops can cause malnutrition and giving too much can cause constipation. That said, a mother's instinct can't be toyed with... Observation is the key, as long as baby is gaining weight and producing a good number of wets and dirty...increase/decrease scoops, but be OBSERVANT!!!

Every mum wants the best for their kids, scratch that, most mums not every. The cheaper brand is not necessarily better than the high end ones.

How about if I told u, if you formula feed the right proportion of formula, you don't need to give baby water till 6 months?? Yes that's a fact. My sis has twins also n was on combination feeding, more of formula than BM tho, babies didn't take water till 6 months and never had constipation for a day.

Cheers Madame!

Hmm... this is quite pitiful i must say.
whilst i reserve my doubt of other underlying circumstances as to his conclusion on the matter, i'd say his logic is quite clear.
we travel 11000km to acquire the blue pali and pay our hard earned box for good healthcare yet we still refuse to satisfy the basic requirements such as lil tests (which compared to the venture in totality is truly negligible in price). it could be discouraging from a perspective.
trust me, if this trend continues, i won't be surprise if other physicians begin toeing his line of thought.
anywho, hope he have a rethink because, boy is he in for loosing out on a large chunk of gold bars..
Not all ppl are after just the "gold bars", like u put it. Some Drs are really very conscientious. U know all strikes against drs in developed countries are registered n all adds up in his overall profile, unlike what prevails in 9ja. This keeps them on their toes, together with all the litigation.

Thing is, as much as we want an affordable package, we shld plan to do the needful. I still find it ridiculous that despite a mama's story on the hearing test result of her baby, alotta ppl ere still deem it a wastage! You've travelled this far n spent so much energy n money, won't you rather do all necessary so u can get the best intervention if need be??
Like u rightly said, so many other Drs might start doing same thereby, making the whole journey more stressful.

Thank you Phema. I appreciate your time and input.
Will truly work on it with my even though it's late.
As for babymama, Bsc Physics 2009, self employed.
D deed's been done n I honestly do not think the child should suffer for it. It's better to settle the child n then concentrate on your family. But to do this right, you have to confess to your wife n discuss the way fwd. Your son can have an intl passport too easily- simply send him to school in the UK (from high sch to masters), since you obviously have alotta money to spare...British passport is better in my opinion. Every other child wifey has for you MUST be delivered in her country of choice.

@olokings, I truly understand your feelings n respect it esp u being a man too...but truth is love or legal child, they are all children from God. There is nothing wrong if he makes sure he settles the child's future- that way there is little interference later. He pays the upkeep till he finishes school, sets him up with something tangible, et al...if the child is okay, he/she will less reason to interfere the wife's children's lives. But if not okay, trust me he/she will make life unbearable for the family...

On the libido thingy, whilst not supporting him in laying blames, it is now very rampant in our society. Alotta couples are facing low to nonexistent libido. Unfortunately, ppl feel shy, ashamed or embarrassed to get the needed help unlike what prevails in developed countries. It is actually a serious problem that needs medical help n runs for both male n female...

@firsttymum, pls its not good to insert ur finger into ur vagina to wash o. just wash d outer. And even inserting ur hand to remove d discharge, nt necessary at all. u ll rather introduce unwanted stuffs.
@tatacherie teammate, did u do a test to confirm its candida. in normal pregnancy, vaginal discharge s increased. Is d discharge brownish, does it smell, any itch?
I agree with this in my own opinion. It could cause more harm than good. Also washing with toilet bar soap is a no no. The vagina is self cleansing n if at all you to wash, u wash just the outer part, with a non-scented liquid soap. Bar soap encourages colonization.

All the rolling, wading and waltzing mamas.....Plenty regards.

Went for ANC yesterday and "nitrate" was tested positive in my urine. I drink lots of water but wee less especially during the night (I might be pressed but standing up to use the loo is tiring). Doctor gave me drugs to clear up the infection (When my routine drugs bores me, another one was added). How scary is this nitrate infection sabi mamas?

Lo please arrive quick and save mum these stress....

#Team September For Swift Delivery
Teamie, "nitrites" in urine indicates presence of a UTI infection. You have to religiously take the drugs u were given.
Also wash your hands before using and after using the loo.
Clean with water, and wipe dry: this should be done front 1st; then back
If you have to use soap to wash your lady parts, use a mild non-scented liquid soap to wash just the outside
Change all your panties or get them sterilized
Treat hubby too and avoid intimacy till certified free of the infection

Cheers dear
