Epositive: Why is "state of origin" still included in our CV?
And yes, tribal bigotry is high in state universities but I learnt the purpose for the creation of these schools is to serve/encourage the locals. Hence, why the indigenes have larger percentage of entry compared to non-indigenes. Still it doesn't justify the expensive fees non locals pay. Let's say indegenes pay 200k as fees non indigene will pay 250 to 300k. Is that fair? |

Culture › Institutional Indigenous Discrimination by Dpsychologist(op): 6:52pm On Aug 20, 2022 |
Nigeria as a country has over 250 ethnic groups, but the country is politically dominated by three major ethnic groups – the Hausa-Fulani of the north, the Igbo of the southeast, and the Yoruba of the southwest.
National politics in Nigeria have largely revolved around competition between the three dominant ethnic groups, with the minority ethnic groups having less political representation.
I remember some time back I created a thread here on the various languages in Kaduna State. Some one came to challenge me that all the language are variants of Hausa-Fulani. Minorities are not even considered in Nigeria.
The Ijaw people of Niger Delta are among the poorest in Nigeria despite their land flowing with Nigerian crude oil.
There is a high level of tribal bigotry/tribalism in Nigeria despite all belonging to thesame country and claim to live together as one.
The Nigerian constitution promises equality among all ethnic groups, but in actuality, the concept of "indigeneity" is widespread across local and state governments (and to a lesser extent, the federal government), which has been criticized by Human Rights Watch as a form of discrimination and a violation of international human rights law.
Jobs are by know you know not what you know. Nepotism is the other of the day, we have moved from democracy to kakistocracy.
Citizens are recognized as "indigenes" of a particular locality if they belong to an ethnic group that is considered to be indigenous to that locality.
Citizens from other ethnic groups, regardless of how long they or their families have been living in a locality, are legally recognized as non-indigenes and they face discrimination from government laws that limit their socioeconomic mobility.
Public universities in Nigeria favour indigenes during the admissions process, and non-indigenes are subject to discriminatory admissions policies that attempt to limit the number of non-indigene students.
Non-indigene students are required to pay higher tuition and they are denied academic scholarships.
Non-indigenes are often unable to participate in local politics and they are also excluded from government jobs.
In some cases, non-indigenes have faced mass purges from government jobs in order to create more jobs for indigenes.
Human Rights Watch has claimed the indigeneity policies relegate "millions of Nigerians to the status of second-class citizens".
Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo once compared indigeneity policies to apartheid.
Let's make Nigeria a better place. We complain of south African Apartheid and White man racism but we show indigenous discrimination to one another.
Remember, divided we fall but in unity we stand

Phillyboi: Bro , pls i need your honest opinion on an issue of mine ..
You guys , pls i need your honest opinion on an issue of mine -. I've got tis girl i really like , we're around the same age (22yrs) - while she was dating , i was there and we developed a bond, like we became really close .. she broke up with her boyfriend later on due to some issues and i tried to move in .. she kept on saying she wasn't ready for another relationship and i was chilled ... later on , her ex started coming back for her and she started developing feelings for him again and wanting to go back .. i told her that I'd have to cut my relationship with her if it happens and she started crying , saying she doesn't want to lose me n all that .. says she loves me ..
Fast forward to tis moment - she's currently at her ex's place - she goes to work from there , he's not around tho .. i recently voiced my displeasure about it and also the fact that i was somewhat jealous about how other men were hovering around her - told her all tis but she literally did nothing to allay my fears or calm me . She instead told me to go sort myself and my overly jealous nature out .. rn , we're not on talking terms cos i was hurt by what she said .. P:S -- we've had sex since she broke up .. but she's also had sex with her ex too since they broke up . pls what do i do cos I'm emotionally exhausted with the whole thing .. i need your honest opinions pls .. Must you date her. Stop stressing yourself over a lady. You had sex with her ( most likely as a rebound) and keep acting desperate for relationship . She's just not that into you. Move on. Stop complicating your life. |

siofra: So why do men lie that marriage benefits women more than men
Men sha, always projecting their insecurities on women. They are the ones who are actually more miserable when single.
May science continue proving these patriarchal demons wrong.
That's how they scammed women into believing they are the more emotional gender. If you are scientifically inclined you will know this is a confirmation bias. I can post an article where it says married people are happier than single people. Or an article that says old men are happier than young men or vice versa. That that will all be a confirmation bias. Bias because I agreed with the article so I assumed that it is the absolute truth. It is worthy of note that just because one agrees with a research doesn't make it universally true. |

Romance › Re: My Take: Being In Your Late 20s And What The Right Time For Marriage Is by Dpsychologist: 2:34pm On Apr 13, 2022 |
alhajidembele: When you become 21 years old, you may still feel young and have no feelings of guilt concerning when to get married. By now you have long passed the age of accountability, which is 18 years of age. To me it should be reduced to 16 years because at this stage, puberty has started so you will have many features of an adult. So when is the right time to get married and who is the right kind of woman to get married to? The right age to get married is on or before 30 years of age. The reason for this is that Jesus Christ started his earthly ministry at the age of 30 and ended it at the age of 33; hence the right age to finish having all your children is on or before 33 years of age. I am not here to talk about God BTW. There is also one popular prince in England who set a "self imposed standard" of getting married by age 30 - Prince Charles. The right kind of woman to get married to is not a woman who has big yansh or small yansh or big breast or small breast. The right kind of woman to get married to is; 1. A woman who is not a troublemaker. There are people who take the slightest opportunity to turn every little thing into quarrel. Have you ever seen those drivers on the road that will take the slightest opportunity to insult you while you are driving, even when they were the ones who were either following one-way or overspeeding? That kind of marriage will end up with divorce because you will be quarelling 24/7 2. A woman who is financially buoyant. She does not necessarily need to be as rich as Dangote himself but she should be somebody who has an average to well paying job. She should also come from a middle class background i.e. her family's financial status. She should be a nurse or a banker or something and not self employed. Else she will be sending your money to her family members, without your knowledge 3. A woman who is not a dwarf, a criple or who has a physical or mental challenge such as F.O.P (a medical condition that turns people to "leaving statues" ). This one is self explanatory. The thing with late marriage is that when you start having children by your late 30s to early 40s, the chances of seeing your grandchildren become smaller and smaller. You will be in your early 60s when your first child has finished university education. But if you get married by your late 20s or early 30s, you will be in your early 50s when your first child has finished university education Everyone is entitled to what he wants. Stop trying to convince people to marry early just because if they marry late they will retire before enjoying benefits from the children. What if one marries early and dies before training the children.? What if one marries early and the children died? What if one marries early and was not able to sponsor the children to school? What if one marries early and train them and they become wayward at the end or refuse to assist the man in his old age? Marry anytime you want not because people cajole you to. |
Romance › Re: Why Do Men Have Problems With Everything Except Violence And Sex? by Dpsychologist: 7:45pm On Apr 08, 2022 |
lecturer50: God who created me knows that in my heart, so many times I use to be very angry and sad about how men are behaving.
I am fully persuaded that the problem of this world is the male gender.
I am speaking this because when your heart is full, you will sometimes find yourself emptying it by your statements.
I am writing this from the abundance of my heart.
I read books and I analyse things. Because of this, I have come to conclude that the male gender is the cause of how evil the world has become.
Does it not surprise you that so many laws abroad are against the male gender?
The reason is that so many people have known that men must be tamed if this world is to get better.
That is why they said it is even an offence for a strange man to touch a woman's body.
I read in a book that in some schools abroad, it's an offence to display manly attributes....
The book made us to know that men's manly attributes have so much destroy things that even some men believe that manliness is equal to criminality. Hence so many schools in the western world have laws that prevent male students from showing courage, confidence, being open minded and etc.
Their hope is that in the next few years, men would be so tamed that crimes and violence would be almost extinct.
So many white people have come to conclude that violence and manliness is one and the same thing. |

Men need to learn self control.
When men get Hot they spend recklessly on women.
The illusion of sex can sometimes be greater than the sex itself. Whether the man ends up getting sex or not that's not the crux of the matter.
A man can do anything when he is Hot. This is the bane of many simps.
A man with sexual control is an Alpha among men.
Men, Exercise self control. |

I live in the northern part of Nigeria.
The security situation of this country has gotten out of hands, and the truth be told, the government would never do anything about it.
last two weeks i was travelling from sokoto to kano. when we got to a village before Gusau, About 300 motor bikes, each conveying about 3 people carrying guns, they blocked the road. fortunately for us they werent out (that day) to kidnapped motorist, is as if they have a targeted place to go. They only blocked the road as they crossed to the other side. they were looking so dirty, unkept and very dangerous... I almost wee on my body because of fear. I would never forget that day.
Recently, the interview granted to the notorious leader of the bandits in zamfara, sokoto and some parts of katsina BELLO TURJI, reveals the lethargic nature of our security forces and the calamity that may befall the nation in a time to come. i would have love to mention some of his shocking comments but time would not permit me as a BANKER.

If one should make a statement against most women, the woman will identify with 'most' and get defensive like "not all women do that/are like that" but if the statement about 'most' women is positive they'll gladly identify with most. Is this the same mental phenomenon? Yea when I was talking about solipsism and rationalization |

Romance › Ladies: Your Character Is Key To Commitment by Dpsychologist(op): 5:24pm On Dec 13, 2021 |
Most women get the aesthetics( thanks to the make up industry), but don’t cultivate the personality traits needed to secure long-term commitment from a high value man.
Men are the de facto gatekeepers to commitment. A woman’s ability to keep a man lays in her personality traits.
If she doesn't seem like a good deal, if he doesn’t enjoy her company or he finds her to be shallow or annoying then why should he keep investing in her? Because otherwise he’s an assh*le.
If a woman want long-term commitment, she has to work for it. It doesn’t just drop out of the sky, nobody’s entitled to anything.
But the concept of earning commitment seems lost to most women, they rely on their looks too much – then they get old and lose their looks.
Many women are simply undatable and not relationship material, however physically many are bangable so they’re whats crudely referred to as a “pump and dump.” That’s her value, she’s hot enough to Bleep but terrible to keep.
If she want a life long monogamy, her looks are going to die out around age 35-40 and there will be far prettier younger women around trying to catch her man’s eye, so she need to possess other traits which makes her seem like a good investment and set her a part from others.

Nairaland General › Change Is Inevitable by Dpsychologist(op): 6:56pm On Dec 11, 2021*. Modified: 11:11pm On Dec 13, 2021 |
One of the greatest philosophical statement ever made is that change is constant.
No matter how you will want to argue this, you are not the same person you were 4 years ago.
Your beliefs tend to change, what you value changes, what is important before is now useless, what you reject in the past is what you regret now.
Physically your statue changes, the clothes you wear is different, the books you read is different, the places you go is different.
My life has gone through major transitions over the years. Not just personally and professionally, but really in terms of what I value, what my interests are, what my goals/dreams are, etc.
The thing is, I wasn't really looking to change myself at all, things just started happening. That's life, I suppose.
It's weird, because while growing and changing is clearly a good thing, it is also very disorienting and challenging.
When change occurs you feel like a bit of a new person, that new person has no clue what they want or what they're doing.
And life goes on.
No matter how we try we can't resist change (either positively or negatively.)
