lezz:Telecoms contribute about 9% to the country GDP and since Mtn has 45% market value, they contribute about 4% to the country GDP....However, I agree with all you have said and I believe that the govt and mtn will come out with a better agreement. |
lezz:What's up lezz? Well, not really sympathy rather am thinking of the aftermath of this hefty fine on mtn and its effect on the economy, people, employees and even beneficiaries from mtn....Honestly, I want mtn to be fined for the evil they have done by swindling customers of their money but what will happen to those in employment directly and indirectly? I can assure you that our government doesn't have any plan on ground....A lot of people are using mtn to make a living via either sales of their line or card or even benefiting from scholarships... Mtn also contributes enormously to the national GDP, and it will be unwise to drive away a foreign company now especially when a lot of foreign investors are already leaving the country amidst our current dwindling revenues....MTN should be sanctioned but that amount is just too much. |
Buharii is an Islamic terrorist --- Lair Muhammad |
Abeg, he should go and sit down....If to say the girl was not connected to a billionaire uncle, he would have used her , dumped her and ran away with her child....As for all those other dumb ladies who think baba mama is the best better learn from this experience. |
phoenix480:Who has the largest customer base? |
franciskaine:If you dont know, all telecom operators flouted the instructions. |
mzilakazi:Dont mind the fo0lish people here...They dont know what is at stake...MTN should be fined but not an imposed fine that will totally destroy a company...MTN deducted my N1,000 for no reason so i have every reason to be mad with them but who will suffer at the end? |
PassingShot:NCC has more than enough reasons to renew MTN licence because they know how much MTN contributes to the country's GDP... Read here; http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/double-honours-for-mtn-as-ncc-renews-digital-mobile-license/ Double honours for MTN as NCC renews digital mobile The fine, even though huge, was known to MTN in the meeting all telecommunication coys had with NCC. Plus they were warned on previous violation before this particular one.I dont know if there was an agreement or not but ask yourself, if there was really an agreement, why did the FG reduce it from N1.4tn to about N700bn? They should have stuck to the so called agreement. Also, if you think MTN was the only telecom company that flouted the instruction then you are wrong..All telecoms flouted the rule but MTN as usual is the scapegoat[/quote] Forget about who will cover percentage fall. There are many telecommunication companies that will be happy to jump in. Withdrawal of their licence could be effective in six months from the day the pronouncement is made thereby using the period to get other coys enter the market.Which telecom company can take up such a huge task? You guys think what MTN is contributing to this country is easy especially when you have a lot of corrupt politicians and leaders.. No telecoms will be willing to do what MN is doing because they dont want to suffer the same fate in the nearest future....Go and google out mtn nigeria contribution to this country and you will find out that even oil companies havent even done up to one tenth of mtn contribution... Don't tell me MTN is indespensable in our telecommunication industry.Dont get me wrong, mtn is not indespensable but right now we do not need any short fall in our already dwindling revenue...MTN deserves to be sanctioned but not N1.4tn... |
Davido should shut the fvck up!!!! Doesnt he sleep around with other women too? He wants his baby mama to be faithful but he himself ain't loyal....He should have married her but he refused because he wants to enjoy life but now he is complaining because she also slept around..mtcheeeew |
augster:What strategies does ntel have in taking over a multinational company all at once...The same ntel that couldn't survive when it was mtel or Nitel...Government shouldn't be involved in running telecommunication companies due to their corrupt tendencies especially in Nigeria were corruption abounds....In developed countries, telecoms are run buy private investors and when they err, they should be fined appropriately not bogus amounts just because you want to use it to add to next year budget were they plan to use it to buy cars... |
idupaul:Are you minding that bloody liar!!! |
PassingShot:Forget that thing...It was during the same period that NCC fined MTN that they went ahead to renew mtn license... This government should be smart, no country fines a foreign company with such amount and does not loose other foreign company... Also, MTN contributes largely to your country's GDP if you don't know...If emptyhen leaves, who will cover up the percentage fall? ( ans= the suffering masses). MTN should be fined but let the fine be reasonable.... This is the same government that fined FO a merger N4million for hoarding fuel but they fine banks several billions of naira....Naija govt is the dumbest I swear. |
luvablesam:You guys should stop being ignorant... No foreign buyer will ever buy a company that a government levied a N1.4tn hefty fine due to the fear of suffering the same fate....This government should treat this issue cautiously, because I found out that MTN also contributes about 4%-8% to our GDP...If MTN leaves, the country will have a short fall of 4%-8% in GDP and it is the ordinary citizens that will be used to cover up on this....I don't even want to mention the number of people that will be unemployed.. |
Tubaba, come and see oooohh ![]() |
