The OP is no doubt a student or alumni of covenant..
No Nigerian university makes the best 3,000 in the world when we start putting so many factors together.. forget about all these webometrics ranking nonsense. Or how often their webpage is visited nonsense. Nigerian universities are mediocre I don't think it's hard to see that this isn't Webometrics. |

Crime › Re: My Prison Exeprience by DrayZee: 3:06pm On Sep 09, 2019 |
The Nigerian police needs complete overhaul. Like, most of them should be stripped off their jobs. Some of them are just dull-brained idiots who have no idea what their job entails. But then again, is there anything that works in Nigeria? As far as it's being run directly by the government, there are always issues. Some might say privatising things is the way forward...but will we also privatise the NPF? I just wonder how one country can be a failure in nearly every aspect of endeavour. Everyday, someone somewhere, who still believes in this country loses hope. Everyone's dream is to run out.
The only solution I can see is restructuring. Let those areas that are serious make things good for themselves. Those blessed naturally will develop. Those not blessed naturally will be forced to make themselves useful. Let every single part of the nation look inward and find value in itself...instead of the whole country going down. But of course an idea like this will never see the light of day. It will expose the wasted parts of the country who have contributed nothing towards national development. It will cut short the ease of access to the national cake. It will make processes a bit more transparent. It will make Nigeria a little bit better. And no one in the seat of power would want something like that. |

Babaalata: Some girls are sexually stimulated when beaten on their buttocks, hence the need to flog older (SS students) on their palms as against their male colleagues. Also, flogging a female student on the buttocks can't be seen as a form of sexual abuse by some hardcore feminist. A female on her period can easily be stained if flogged on the buttocks. I always imagined that this had something to do with it |

Education › Re: Covenant University Increases School Fees For International Students by DrayZee: 12:11pm On Sep 06, 2019 |
isthatso: either way, it butresses what I said, the only GOVT owned Universities in Nigeria worth going to are UNN, ABU, UI, Ife Unilag. I did not mention Conventry because it is private though i hear they are ok (by Nigerian standards). It butresses my point that the others are for all intents and purpose a waste of time and money. It also buttresses my point that (convent aside because it is private) if those are the best in the country, which children of the elite do you see at the so called best in Nigeria? I'm not against you. You have a valid point. But since you want a name, Fayose's last son graduated from Covenant last year or the year before. And there will be others like him studying here. I'm not arguing against your point. Cuz actually, most people would send their children abroad if they have the resources...although there's the select few that will still send their children here, even if it's just for the first degree. |
Education › Re: Covenant University Increases School Fees For International Students by DrayZee: 12:02pm On Sep 06, 2019 |
isthatso: https://www.4icu.org/ng/
like I said Nigerias 5 best Universities are ABU, Ife unilag, UI and Ife, and for the most part, nobody enlightened would send their children there anymore if they had a choice. Your unizik in no33 in Nigeria and no 6227 in the world.
there is nothing else to say to an educated man. No one uses 4icu as a reputable source of university ranking information. They're not accurate. That's like using NUC ranking. Times Higher Education is one of the top academic ranking sites in the world. They actually know what they're doing. Go to their site and check Nigeria's top universities. If you want a another reasonable site, check out Webometrics (although Webometrics standard for ranking is limited, at least they have a standard). When you check those two sites, you'll discover that Nigeria's top universities (in no particular order) are: University of Ibadan, Covenant University and University of Nigeria, Nsukka. According to THE rankings, these 3 are Nigeria's only universities in top 1000. |

boiz2men: On what ground do you measure "far better"?
Please dont say facilities. Ivy league schools are what they are not only because of facilities but also their produce.
Are you aware that most private uni have third terms sorry remedial semester for those who failed that academic session.
How do you pay millions have not have at least a 2.1 ?
Why do you think privates have churn out the most first class?
Logic will mislead us to think its because the students are well taught. You should probably stay in Covenant for like a week when the academic session is on. Then compare it to that of the public uni you went to. I don't see why you should assume they pay for first class or something. When there's no opportunity to have fun however you like and do whatever you want...when you're forced to go to all classes or risk an extra year, why won't you be more serious than those who are exposed to distractions of every kind? Also, that remedial semester whatever doesn't exist in Covenant. You fail, you carryover and should you carryover so woefully that you need an extra year, you have a maximum of 2 years to finish up else you graduate without a certificate. Thus your 4/5 years + 2 extra in the school will mean absolutely nothing, and there's nobody you can pay or beg to help you. Tell me why they won't be serious. |

boiz2men: I prefer babcock because my current line of work is IT related and all babcock computer science grads I have met have been outstanding. I cant say the same for covenant. This is my personal opinion tho. Well, Babcock Computer science grads might be better than those of Covenant (though I'm not so sure about that), but how do the CU grads you've met (I take it you've met a reasonable number), compare to those of the public uni grads you've met? As an IT person, I'm sure you realise it's personal development that makes the best Comp science graduates. Apparently, Babcock has a better community for such things. |
Education › Re: Covenant University Increases School Fees For International Students by DrayZee: 10:37pm On Sep 05, 2019 |
boiz2men: This may just be my prejudice against private uni students/Grads.
I perceive them as "Those who couldnt pass jamb".
So paying in millions for education that most get for less is athe rich man's kid's way of not failing JAMB.
For the rest of us who pass JAMB, we pay less for the same education.
Please no one should mention they have better facilities. What good is it when they are not not different from the public guys in practical.
The only private I recommend is Babcock. The others are hogwash. Complete waste of money. Well, I can tell you that Computer science and basically all Engineering in Covenant is far far better than that of most public schools in Nigeria. I won't speak on public universities...everyone knows they've mostly all fallen. You'd only have a point if you studied all them art courses...like English or something. And since you see private uni students as those who couldn't pass Jamb, let me inform you that the guy with the highest score in Jamb 2018 is currently in Covenant...going to 200 level. And there are many more like him. So, you can see that your assertion is baseless. And why do you recommend Babcock. People with your opinion (that private uni students couldn't pass Jamb) usually detest private universities in general. So why Babcock over Covenant (even though I'm sure you know Covenant is perceived to be a great distance (academically) ahead of Babcock). |

gaventa: Who says South Africa wont lose, would The Nigerians who are under the franchise not stop business with them? Will this not trigger the South African investors to talk to people in their govt? Why are we so scared in this nation, we don’t want to part away with anything but we want a change. Yes Nigerians are affected butnit will definiately affect South Africa since it’s there brand. It will stop people from investing with them and a message will be passed that Nigerians are not fools and the worst is yet to come Lol. They're killing Nigerians and we're going to steal Milo and milk from Shoprite as retaliation. It's beginning to make sense. Even as we're stealing the provisions, we're still killing our own countrymen on behalf of South Africa. That's some next level thought process |

Politics › Re: BREAKING!!! Angry Youths Set MTN Office On Fire by DrayZee: 2:22am On Sep 04, 2019 |
baby124: They are losing a lot. The goods in Shoprite are owned by Shoprite. Last last a few jobs will be lost but this will hit the SA owners hard. MTN office may be franchised if it’s not their head office, but most franchises are stocked with parent company equipment and supplies. Whatever minute amount they're losing is nothing compared to the Nigerians rendered either jobless or dead (I heard a Nigerian was shot already during protests). And it sure isn't comparable to the lives of Nigerians who are being killed. Sure you may say we need to do something about it, but what we are doing is like drinking poison and expecting another person to die. It is stvpid. |

The shoprite and the mtn office Nigerian are attacking
Are they any south Africans there??
They're killing Nigerians and we Nigerians are attacking a south African company that the staffs are Nigerians Do you guys think the South African is losing anything
The goods inside shoprite is owned by Nigerians
Look for south African and kill simple Lol. South Africans aren't losing any single thing. I now understand the problem of Nigeria. Most of its citizens are daft. How can you take food away from the mouth of your own people, and then deceive yourself saying it's South Africans that are suffering. Till now, have you seen any single South African beg Nigerians to stop what they're doing? Nigeria use una brain oh. |
