MrPresident:
so many questios asked about nigerians in diaspora who have accounts in nigerian banks?
you ignored those questions..why?
what about accounts opened for kids and new borns? shou

ld people bring their new birn for thumb-print??
what if one is yet to open an account after the dealinehuh

or is this another scam to take unverified money in dormant accounts??
Some bank advise their customers in diaspora to request for an account update to reflect a foreign address on their account (with recent utility bill signed by a notary public as proof or proof of studentship abroad stamped by their colleges as the case may be).

For kids' accounts, the signatories are to validate their BVN. there is no contract with a MINOr .

tranxo:
Yes sir, you are talking based on what you know, I am talking based on what I know. Maybe bc I used the term BVN for corporate account. Okay, with time, each corporate account will be assigned a VN based on a method yet to be declared. I hope you know that legally, a corporate entity is a "person" and regarded separately from its directors or signatories. So a corporate account will eventually have a unique identifier that would record all the activities of the account, NOT the signatories, in the banking system. For instance, when a corporate account accesses a facility, the deal is recorded for the account, and not for the signatories who are not personally liable.
Since you want to go technical as per legality. it my pleasure to inform you that CORPORATE account in Banks encompasses both Sole Proprietors, Partnership and Company. The last time I checked, the assumption of a LEGAL Personality only applies to COMPANIES. Thus the veil of incorporation does not affect Drdams & Co, Chukwu & Sons, Dr. Dams enterprise etc.

are you still maintaining the stand point that these exceptions do not need BVN validation?
BusinessRe: 12 Things You Need To Know About Bank Verification Number (BVN) by drdams: 12:59pm On Jun 27, 2015
tranxo:
For now, there is no BVN registration for corporate accounts. It is only for individual accounts.
common Mr. oga. you are talking based on what you read on the lines.

how would you take finger prints, picture, and other required biometric requirement for a Corporate Entity. there will never be BVN for CORPORATE ACCOUNT. the status quo now is for all signatories of corp accounts and its affiliates to validate their BVN on them. These has been the norm at least in some banks stop arguing blindly.

Its BIOMETRIC sire.

BusinessRe: 12 Things You Need To Know About Bank Verification Number (BVN) by drdams: 12:40pm On Jun 27, 2015
@ OP . its nt just for individual account holders. all signatories to corporate accounts, joint accounts and the likes are expected to validate their personal BVN on these accounts. afterall signatories cant claim not to have individual accounts.

Some banks had stop granting credit facilities to corporate account holders with signatories yet to register for BVN since.

Abee79:
No need to worry about the possibility that your bank might fail, or that you might lose your money.

There is a Government Agency called Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) that is responsible for paying bank depositors their money if their bank fails. I think presently the maximum insured deposit is N500,000 (which covers up to 85% of bank depositors in Nigeria) in Deposit Money Banks and N200,000 for Other Financial Institutions (Microfinance Banks & Primary Mortgage Banks); and if you have more than that in your account, NDIC will pay you everything as it realises the assets of the failed bank and declares 'Liquidation Dividends'.

You can find more information about the NDIC and how your bank deposits are protected at: www.ndic.gov.ng

I agree with you, but they suppose to do better than this, there are other companies their dividend encourages their investors, take first bank for instance, no matter what happen they reward their shareholders with either dividend or bonus. When you buy first bank share and leave it for ten or twenty years, you will be happy to see what you have made as dividend and bonus.
True. but mind you FBN is perfect. u wont compare FBN HOLDINGs with Transcorp. Dividend from FBNh comes from all the subsidiaries in which First Bank is just a fraction. FBN capitals, First Registrars et al.

Boss13:
Before you guys adulterate this news, let me explain. These Banks are systemic important Banks. It means they are very important to the growth of the country or they are too big to fail. If they do fail, the negative outcome would be too much. These Banks are also referred to as First-tier Banks Category. Many of them has applied for the implementation of Basel II (Basel II just means capital adequacy or in layman's ensuring you have enough capital/equity and adequate risk appetite) and in implementing Basel II, you must grow or increase your capital to a certain ratio and that is what CBN is requiring the Banks to do - Give us a timetable to implement Basel II and increase your Capital.

If you follow the trend of events, you would notice that Diamond Bank offered right issues, I believe last year. Access Bank has done their right issue this year. I believe other Banks within the category will follow suit too. If the Right issues cannot raise the adequate capital, public issues would be made. However, the news does not mean that the financial institutions not mentioned are at risk.
nice. but the last time I checked, Diamond wasnt among the too big to fail banks. its nt a tier1 bank. fidelity neda.
Access GTBank Zenith FBN LTD are regarded as first tier.

Diamond is almost there

that the rest met the requirement of capitalization doesnt make them tier1

U are so fascinated by Botswana, the reality is Botswana is like a province to us. For example the Japanese Yen is stronger than the Dollar, but Japan is not a powerhouse. Stop talkin on behalf of Botswana, talk about your thirld world & untidy country

It seems you are bereft of economic and global views?  Yen is never stronger than dollar? Japan is a powerhouse, it has the second largest economy after US with less than half of the Us population.
You talked about Black RSA being better than blacks in Africa, so you included all black Africans but RSA blacks in your statement. For your information, blacks in Nigeria run , own and control businesses. Most profitable businesses are owned by Nigerian blacks. Econnet Wireless is not as big as MTN but it was started by a black man- Strive Massiya  in your neigbouring Zimbabwe when no blacks would own tangible real estate in  RSA. Mo Ibrahim from Sudan started  CELTEL and Mike Adenuga started Glo Mobile in Nigeria.  I would like to know how black owned businesses in RSA have controlled investments in Africa. Your mentality that blacks in RSA are better  economically than blacks in Africa simply because its RSA and Oppenheimer family is rich is delusional and utopian. Dangote group, a black owned business  bought a  45 percent stake in South Africa's Sephaku Cement for 3 billion rand ($378 million.
Its  like saying the poorest person in the US will be the  richest in Portugal. Unemployment among blacks in RSA is about 50% according to University of Cape Ecomic research. I marvel at RSA's infrastructure not  at  black ingenuity or economic sucess because it pales in comparison with what's obtainable elsewhere in Africa.
how is yen stronger than Dollar? are u talking about the physical weight of the note?

Whats the difference between money market and Tbills.
Money Market is involves buying of shares, bonds , and generally primary n secondary market operations. You ll need to liase with any of the investment homes who are into mutual funds. there are of varying kinds ranging from a risk free to highly risky securities.

tbills are securities released forthnightly b fgn to mop up excess funds from d economy. its absolutely risk free abd you get your interest up front. d minimum tenor is 90days.
