Zihno:Ehen.., but I was informed that they (WES) were then waiting for it to be verified though.. So I sent my student friend again the next day and they did verify the same next day. |
Temi475:I think they are just getting you prepped as to what to expect in terms of documentation, should in case you are granted admission. Every international student would need an i-20 eventually and it requires showing them a financial statement. It's a subtle way to let you know too that they have not ghosted you even..unlike what I'm experiencing from one witchcraft uni now. FIU even told me that they don't have a timeline for reviewing applications, but just to hope for the best..and I was like what da.. |
Aucun:Before nko. |
Lovethchisom:I asked for transcripts to be sent from my school to WES and one month later, I was not hearing anything. WES was/is organized enough to keep reminding me that they had not received anything, so on the fourth week, I asked my student friend to go and disturb them with the news that my deadline was in one week. I even thought the deadline I gave was tight enough. Would you believe that I slept that night, only to wake up to WES's confirmation of reception? Ask your school to do electronic delivery. They might not want to open up that they have the service, because of the money they want to charge you, but assure them that you won't mind. |
chibertha:I swearrit.. ![]() No be clear eye, I been take find the Health informatics before oo. I wonder what made me become lax with pursuing that. I had even read then that MPH succeed most with Health informatics. |
chibertha:Abiiiiiii? So my bro says too. I hesitate because I don't know what awaits me if I decide to take on a totally new dream for old age , but I don't believe that I won't excel, if push really comes to shove. I am going to have to apply for this too at Marshall. Let me ruminate on all these new information, chibertha. I will reach you eventually. Thank you soo much. God bless all you kind and helpful people. |
Thanks again DAramis. |
Zihno:Word👍👍❣️ |
Zihno:Oh my...so indeed, life cannot ever be simple. I appreciate this so much. Thank you. I will start looking into this MHA of course, but lots of doctors go for the MPH route too.. Perhaps they are mainly naija docs whose secondary intentions are also to escape our piss-hole. LoL. BSN from here seems like a tall dream, but it's good I put it into perspective, following when I make my escape too. Thanks really. |
EmeDavid:You should probably mention her here.. I did not get into FIU. |
Zihno:You know, you share the same views with my brother. Are you him?😀 One minute, he's asking me to come any which way I can, but the next, he's warning me to not phone him for money, if I become penniless due to poor decision. I hear that the MHA is good too, but the doctors and a host of other professionals not in science and adept at management, are also there to compete. So it's really not easy anywhere. Left to me, I just want to face Environmental Health..HSE, Toxicology..the works. But I feel doing that under the MPH provides more options to branch out, while keeping me relevant in the health industry. Of course, I'd be lying if I said I have it all figured out now, but I am no way close to where I was, when I was considering only that Kinesiology. I just pray that everything will pan out as smoothly as will make me content, God abeg. |
EmeDavid:I thought a mod asked you to reach out to her. How did that conversation go? |
Zihno:Wow...this is actually a golden advice. It's the bumps and stops that probably worry me...like how long do I want to be studying for? But yes, it's progress, if the straight path refuses to straighten out |
EmeDavid:I don't have masters, but it isn't a requirement for the PhD Public Health at FIU. And I applied because a friend said some of her classmates got in, with just the Bachelor's. The catch though, was that a prof has to agree to be your supervisor before you put in your application. Something I soon confirmed, after the rejection. Didn't really put heart to it though. But I submitted GRE, TOEFL and writing sample.. |
DAramis:Omgosh, are you serious? I thought it was chemical engineering or something. This is why I like voicing/penning down my every concern. Chibertha please oooo, help your girl. Be my personal alumnus. You must already know that I'm for MPH as I haven't let people here to hear word about it. I've even asked you about it. I actually do meet the requirement at Marshall and have the GRE and TOEFL scores. Please can you help? My six years work experience in Physiology is verifiable. I believe I will get in if I apply, but it will be another admission letter on the pile, without GA. Thanks a lot DAramis. |
Aucun:Well, I don't know about MBA. You might need to check with the program chair/director/website. But I know they are good with funding for the MPH that is everywhere in my head . If I were to suggest only three schools that gave people I know, full funding for MBA though, without the stress of standardized tests and messaging profs, it will be Arizona State, Penn State and Ohio State Universities. Your gpa must be tight, of course. |
Lasisieniola77:Amen. |
Lasisieniola77:My brother, Public Health oo. With a concentration in Environmental Health...every sensible organisation get environmental department. So no hospital can condition me, which I doubt is even an issue in the US. I also applied to one Health Informatics... so I fit follow enjoy tech money small...if them give me funding quick. If they don't, it won't still be bad. I can continue on that path if I desire later. God blessing my efforts, everything go pure. I wish others well too. |
Lasisieniola77:Ehnn..so why is it not in top jobs nau? I started out wanting to do them, but a sound advise from someone and my research, made me correct course. The Americans even bemoan studying it. Visit their career forums and see whether laugh will not catch you. They say even when they complete their study, you are expected to be fit, physically, in order to be taken seriously...and for what? Ultimately, to become a trainer. Is that not laughable..and who wants to goan be fit in America? How many fitness outfits will even sponsor you? I would rather do something that can make me compete for 200 positions, than struggle for two or three in one county. Amazon, Facebook and big companies would advertise for positions and then one gym would advertise one opening and that's what someone studying for two years will be looking forward to? No nah. The best that is easy to make of it, is to go on to the PhD level though and become a prof or..idk. Like I always say anyway, certain things don't matter to some people. I am a Physiologist, so I suppose go that way, but the luck that got me something in Naija and has kept me struggling to stay relevant in healthcare, no go let me make that mistake again. |
Lasisieniola77:I wish you well.
|
chibertha:This Biomechanics ehnn....well, all path na path to living the American dream for some people, though. Otherwise, courses like this, are just traps waiting to ensnare people in a never ending circle of master programs. Biomechanics...Exercise Science..Exercise Physiology.... Kinesiology...even Sport science..are tied with the same rope and are all one chance. The school even dared to ask for 3.0..lol. Just like Romance Language programs will attract people with funding, then what happens after school...? You act love without language. ![]() It's probably just me that could care about these things though. ![]() |
Lasisieniola77:My brother.. it's only one that we can accept even..spoke with advisors in both schools I applied to and they say I too early. No be them give me admission? I wonder. Promises here, there and everywhere I go, with no solid contract to call my own, yet. Na only God go run am. Edit: oh I applied to FIU for PhD to try my luck. Of cos, I got love letter 2 days ago. I knew it would end like that, when no prof answered my cold mail. |
Aucun:Of course, it's not. I see May deadline for admissions up there. Then again, everyone's priority is different. I see lots of people here worrying about getting admission, when some of us na funding be our admission. |

This is what confuses me. You give them people that can pay in dollars, they say you have ties to US. You give them Nigerian sponsors, they'll say the naira will not be sufficient. That's why I'm looking for GA with torchlight like this. I just have to find one. I can't shout at all. |
chibertha:Thanks a lot. |
Please, who is a better candidate to use as sponsor? Brother or Husband? Brother is in US and receives dollars as may appeal to a VO, but husby is a political figure in Nigeria. Both have the required amount to cover tuition. Asking for a friend. |
Myfavour22:Even Asaba right now, does a one month timeline, without fast track. Mine was two weeks in Enugu and six days for the kids in Awka (both fast tracked). The Bayelsa experience of my neighbours will even make people concave, if they hear the timeline. Soo I smile when people say scam here and scam there. But yeah, everyone should be deligent enough to find out things for themselves at the immigration offices. Far as I know, some scams can see people waiting for years too, to secure a capture appointment. |
