Even my GC do tell me to remind them at so so time for more update about internal happenings.
Don't just over do it

Admissions is different from funding. Or are you assuming everyone here is a prospective PhD student? You can't bomb admissions to give you a decision because indeed, it can go southwards. It does go southwards.

Yeah. Your eyes is not paining you. It is simply to know more about the school culture, program and what your chances are after school leveraging the school platform. That is why you attend information session, speak to admission recruitment staff to guide you through the process. They will also give you insight on how to achieve a successful application. This is what i did for other schools and awaiting decision.
If you are a current student or alumnus. i will like to know what your experience is like. Thank you.

Oh yeah, it's kind of an interesting thought, although overreaching, to have such a team on standby for every single international student who's looking for reassurance on how they can thrive on campus or outside of it, so excuse the recipient for being short on patience to indulge. If it weren't as daunting a task as that is, indeed, there wouldn't be information classes or open days where they gather students in their numbers to convey the basic details, once and for all. No school I know would admit to having a negative culture or share premonitions on job getting after school. In that regard, I would say you are only just putting your best foot forward now, by seeking answers from anyone, other than their own authority.

Please, Can an alumnus or current student of Western Illinois University tell me about the school. I reached out to their international admission office to learn more about the school and culture but the lady that attended to me was really rude and hung up the phone on me. i just need to be sure this is not a red flag . I will appreciate if someone can tell me what their experience was like with the school.

Wait, lemme understand something. You say you carried phone to call their international office, so they can tell you about their school and culture? Abi is something in my eye?

Business / Re: How Lucrative Is A Supermarket Business? by Dreamsss: 7:51pm On Mar 26, 2023
kushe:
Every business is lucrative to the untrained eye till you actually take the plunge and get knee deep in the day to day running of the business.
Is it lucrative? That answer is not dependent on location alone but the expertise of the owner of the business and how willing they are to learn.
Staff will make mistakes (I.e bill you for 3 items when you have 5 in your cart), they will invite their family and friends to shop only to generate half of what they pick as an invoice while security will just glance and tick the invoice.
Should we talk about products that expire, that is why I prefer cosmetics ,wine and alcohol ,cleaning and laundry . U are far safer with those categories, but some items stay so long on the shelf even in these categories that you can almost do thanksgiving the day you sell one.
The business as a concept in Nigeria is still in its infancy and trust me that in a few years there will be massive consolidation with the smaller brands dying out to make way for dominant regional players not exceeding 10 in number.

This is it. Do not always be distracted by the number of people that flock such places. Lots of stuff stay on the shelves for eons on end. In addition to all that have been listed, different tax/scam officers will be trying to bilk you, staff/your own relatives will be doing their own, what about the rats that deal with the juice, beverages, chopables- even tissue papers and what not? Have all the glass cabinets you want, they must be stakeholders in that shop.

Mum used to have one and you would look at it and love the lights and shine, but it wasn't like that. The good thing was that she resolved to just do it for the exercise it was making her do and we weren't paying rent. Location was excellent, as several businesses and churches were around and this helped us streamline what exactly was moving and it was just drinks, soft oo- pepsi, coke, not even the wines, at the end of the day for us. Overtime, the supermarket slowly turned to drinks shop and we were better for it.

So if I were to advise anybody to start a buy and sell biz now, I will advise that they do a coca-cola depot and be disciplined enough to not squander all the profits that will keep the biz afloat....Simple. Because the returns be like blood money. People will always drink coke.

Sorry about before but best believe that many of us here, have once had our questions ignored too. People may be busy, people may be distracted, or indeed, people may not have answers. There's no use to feel bad about nothing, because no one's under any obligation to help anybody, truly. Whatever we do, we do out of personal will. Just like it's your prerogative to not share transcript. While some of us mightn't have cared much, thanks that you did anyway.

While looking for information, don't be mislead. If things happen like the way this guy said, why are people still studying, why don't they just look for jobs?

The advice I'll give are practical ones that won't involve you shooting yourself in the leg Only to get here and be like "I wasn't told"

$30k in tuition isn't easy money. If it is, Americans won't be taking loans to go to school.

So, why don't you try and apply for an assistantship that'll get your tuition waived? Or better still, if you don't get it, if you have savings enough to cover your first year, that's good too. It's a 2yrs program and the only thing you can do to help yourself is to make sure your tuition is ready or covered in some ways. Don't believe the advice this individual gave you. I don't know why klawaa is giving you such advise, maybe it's what an average nigerian want to hear You won't raise $30k by working illegally and still studying at the same time. The money you get from Uber can sort you accomodations and utilities, but tuition??

I also imagined that he asked his question based off the fact that he wanted to know how people offset tuition. But this one that he is all about the cheddar itself and talking about 2 million on a monthly basis, then his best bet is to go and experience things for himself. Nobody can adequately supply him info on that. People are different, so are our experiences. As he's said 2 mill today, so have I known others, that barely made it to finish their programs, because of money problems in that same UK. One thing for sure though, is that neither of the two rhetorics will inform my personal decision to study in the UK.

I have asked an open question about something I do not know so that our people living in the state can contribute and advise. Why not make your own โ€œimperic and personal experience borne contributionsโ€ if you live there and know better than making this comment. Itโ€™s well!!

I think a lot others managed to miss what you originally wanted to know which is "how do we do it?" like you asked. The simple answer most of the time is Graduate Assistanships. Oya go an research that.

Bro
Itโ€™s the second time the school assisted me in my deferred letter all coz of getting date and they adjusted my the resumption day upfront so that I will be able to get a date. My first letter was November last year and this second time the date on the letter was moved to March 13 to 20 and now I canโ€™t find date and my emergency date was not approved again.

What should I do now?
Or is it possible to still be considered for deferment again the second time ?

Or itโ€™s the end of the road?
And channel my energy on getting another admission again?

If your EA request is denied today, you can reapply tomorrow tomorrow and get granted.

I don't think you received a love letter from them because you inquired about your application. And for the guy that received admission within a week, I think it's because of the program he applied for.

At the end it all boils down to the program you applied for. In my case, I received a rejection email from the graduate coordinator before the graduate school sent me their "decision letter" as they called it.

You paid for application @ UWM? Where you not aware of their Virtual Open house? It was among my free schools and I have come to understand that schools that grant waivers are very competitive. I believe that's the major reason for the rejects.

Strange as it might seem, it's a thing. If I was waitlisted and demanded an immediate decision, that is exactly what will happen. The H.I program's competitive alright, but UWM usually will not wait to accept all applications before reviewing individual apps and November's as early as early goes for fall term apps. Plus, I would imagine that most schools do open house days that everyone cannot attend..It has almost never affected Masters applicants, negatively.

Again, I paid for the application. I know not to apply to schools during their free app periods, because I know how that can hamper admission, especially if you need funds. Or was that what happened? Was the virtual house thing done in November?

I've received 4 admission decisions so far:

2 admits and 2 rejects. One of the rejects came from UWM.

Infact, I find the UWM to be one of the weirdest schools I know. They were the second school that loved me up and a confirmation that some schools really just reject you even if you meet requirements (a lot do not sha). Their Panthera system for application is ambiguous and you never know where you're at in the application process. I applied in November and didn't get any notification, confirming payment or asking me to add a document or providing me with a timeline or anything whatsoever. Just dead silence, after collecting my money. Only for me to email admissions about it last week and they handed me love letter within two days. I guess I pissed them off. And their acceptance rate is above 89 percent or so. Now I'm scared to be asking schools for delayed decisions.

So you can imagine my surprise when that lady/guy up there, said that they gave her/him admission within a week! What a joke! That is one weird school, alright.

Yes, in that January she seemed to need someone. But now that a new batch would be in town, I might have to wait until she finishes giving her chemistry students and hope that her conscience will reserve one for me.

Hello Everyone, trust you are doing well. Spring break will soon be over, by next week admission and funding decisions will start rolling in.I pray we get that congratulatory news we all long for.

Anyway, I have been invited for an interview for a GTA position, please what should i prepare for? What are the likely questions that I should look forward to.

Amen oo.

Congrats in advance jare. Keep practicing your pitch on how you tutored students; your strategies to get them engaged, what you enjoy in it...you can use Google for basic teaching assistant questions. I don't think they ever go crazy as to ask really professional teachers questions, but go the extra mile, if you can.

Funny thing is that one woman told me she has an opening in January, without even any interview...then when I reminded her that I was admitted for the fall term, na she remember say na spring she de find...mscheww. Tease.
