Kaka118:2 months? No nau. Well, I don't know what happens in that Lagos Sha, because all the horrid tales emanate from there, but it's just one state amongst a whole lot of others. |
chibertha:Chiberta, hello, please is there funding/GA for MPH in your school? And can it be gotten from our home country? |
toluene23:Have you actually gotten the admission? What did you write in your personal statement? |
prayfornaija:I haven't recovered from my GRE-at-home experience. And I opted for that route because a friend succeeded at it. The proctors could not get the website to launch. After they finished dealing with my laptop, till date, five keys have refused to resume functioning. Worse yet is that ETS refused to refund me. Had to register again to take the GRE at a test center. |
TWoods:I'm good. The context I shared wasn't robust enough, so I understood how that could affect advise. Thank you. Hopefully, I will share a complete success story someday as I see lots of successful people do here. Be it with this prof or another. |
TWoods:That's not true, TW. I understand the intricacies of clinching such RA-ships, so believe me when I say that I researched the life out of this man. I can't post the entire correspondence here, but I had shared my enthusiasm to learn in his lab and intentions to apply what he literally does to Nigeria's PH system, which is why he shared that info about working internationally...and implies the possibility of adding Nigeria to it. I'm mostly disturbed by the mention of a second year, but even now, I kind of feel like I'm overthinking it. Because he said most and not all my lab work and the reality is that MPH students, do get assistantships in that department, right of the bat. So yes, I have sent an email to ask him about how we may proceed and I hope for the best. Thank you for being so kind as to even answer me. |
The littlest things worry me and make me ask all kinds of questions. So please you guys should indulge me this time abeg. Please is this prof saying it is my second year that he needs me? Because I don't see an actual invitation/schedule to talk in this message nau.

Someone might have idea here, so please help. How does Worldpay work for receiving payment? I have also tried google and couldn't find a clear explanation. I had earlier sent money to an exam body through a Worldpay link that was emailed by the Worldpay. Now, the same exam body has sent me a refund through Worldpay again and all I got this time, was the notification of payment. How do I make this claim and access the real money please? |

Please how do we access the refund made by NEBOSH through Worldpay? The person that helped me make the payment in the first place, got the notification of the refund and we're stuck on how to actually get the money. |
Sisib15:Not to worry. Such people always have their comeuppances. Some times that we apply to plenty schools sef, the very first application, might end up being the favourable or/and earliest decision. Just make sure you meet their requirements and avoid all those schools that outrightly give mumu connotations like; meeting requirement is not a complete assurance for acceptance kinda BS. |
chibertha:It's so strange and sad how people can comfortably bilk someone trying to make a headway in life. Maybe he's a professor, so what? As you hear America, so the next thing is to kill the person? So sad really. When I asked my own lecturer for the sake of just adding one academic recommender, as my way to say thank you, I offered to send recharge card and before I said jack, he was sending account number. I just laughed, say na you know and still went ahead to send the 5k that I originally wanted to send. He did not acknowledge and me, I did not say nada. Didn't think I needed to. After that, I still inboxed him to goan do supplemental application, by way of 'extending the good he has started"..lol. He wasted time..so I went and dropped another message and I was like; I would not know if you have completed the recommendation because my right is waived, but I want to let you know that I'm grateful. Only him waited for two weeks and went to complete it. If not that we're trying to do things properly sef, I know someone with a gmail-owning recommender..and he get full funding ontop am. |
@Creativeweb. Well, I kind of get where two of you are coming from. Plenty, if not most PhD candidates, get to the middle of their program and run away because they land a job...fact. A lot of people are not as enthused over spending four to five years ontop studying, when they could be making cool dollars and PhD is usually a backup plan, when you can't find a job as per lots of Masters graduates that I know... Then on your part, yes, it is true that lots of schools will hint at the fact that your admission decision would rely on if you can have a line of communication with a faculty member, so you can be sure of a right fit, according to them...So that's why it could be hard to get in, because profs have their own for body and would not respond... So I don't know if that can be entirely referred to as competitive. |
Sisib15:Ehnn? You say wetin? Is it your VC you went and asked for a recommendation letter? |
vicdom:Not even assistantships? What an insult to the Engineering field! |
Newbiein2016:Ok, I see what you meant now. That was poor, if the long term goal he mentioned, was indeed only the NYSC program. |
Newbiein2016:So what would you have had him say? That he will not come too? Abi is there something I'm not understanding in this statement? |
Capitalbase:One of my applications is for a PhD program and I emailed the profs before applying, because it was advised on the school's website. However, up until now, no response from those people and the school will not let me rest from constantly bombarding me with emails about deadline and how all their profs have plenty extramural fundings. Of course, they want my application fee, I know. I asked an alumnus and she told me to email profs like I'd done, but if they don't answer me, I should still go ahead to apply because some of her friends succeeded that way. So I have done so...Whether it will bring out anything meaningful, me and her can't tell for sure, but I have sha applied to three other schools for masters, jejely. |
Guys, for schools that use last 60 credit hours for GPA requirement, do these include our research project and Industrial attachment credits? |
dduchess90:Oh thanks for responding. I am using Wes because I am applying to schools through the SOPHAS centralized system, which is a system that most public health programs (in US) use. I remember adding only SOPHAS as a recipient but I did not pay an extra cash, so I don't know if it was sent. I look at the list of recipients now and I see only myself as the recipient (by default) who has been mailed a report and I'm confused, because I don't want to waste time if I have to pay for it to be sent and I don't want to pay twice for a service (if the first recipient does not require any extra payment). |
I've come again. Guys please I'm confused about something. Do I pay for the very first Wes recipient I choose with my own hand (before completion of evaluation), after myself that's been chosen by default to receive a mailed report? |

SpatialKing:Perhaps a WES evaluation would've pushed your score beyond the 3 points mark and they knew that? My worry is that they are threatening me,even though I meet the requirement...God de. Big congrats to you brother and by God's grace, I will come and share the same kind of testimony. Did you have an interview, before you were granted funding at your school? Which kain kweshion dem ask? |
"Admission decisions are based upon all application materials. Successful applicants generally have a GPA of 3.00 or better. A strong science background in a prospective applicant's undergraduate work is recommended." Please OGs in the building, follow me psychoanalyse this people. Are they low-key telling me that I can't get in with my 2.81 (Wes evaluated), even though their stated requirement is 2.75? |
Lots of advice going on here, so I'd touch the part that I haven't seen anyone touch yet; you are not too old at twenty anything to consider studying medicine. Nigeria is just a useless country, otherwise, studying medicine in western countries is just another 2-3 years with transferable credits from your botany and even if you were to start again, it will only be for four years. I am thirty something and considering it myself, so why not you? Many more of our fellow Nigerians will kill to spend 2-3 years on a masters program abroad and even home, so why shouldn't we? As studying abroad is seemingly a long shot for now though, I will advise you to apply to start on your passion already...like right now, so you don't end up like me, wasting the five years I did to study something that I have lived to regret for a long time now. |
Also use the time to be looking for another job. 'Cos if they eventually don't come through, one of these is likely to happen; a more serious employer will give you the CoS, they might just rescind the offer or worse, they will ask you to pay for it and we are talking millions. Been there, seen it all and absolutely now hate them for it. |
chibertha:As in...na coded guy. And I can de feel coded guys ![]() |
Stevenssen:Thanks so much for responding. I will look into these. |
Guys please, I know USA is not Nigeria, but is there no chance at all that I can be admitted into masters programs with a 2.6 gpa, that set 3.0 or 2.7 as their requirement? I really want to study something I enjoy and would build a career in, so I wish to get in. My 2.6 undergrad CGPA is completely as a result of the Nigerian system, as I was getting E and Fs for courses with content as stupid as "define mood' and name ways to commit suicide, but I can't explain that to an Oyinbo school... please how do I go about this? I'm prepping for the GRE, but I hear that cannot even help the case, if a required gpa has been stated. Please what do I do? I wish to get into the Ms.Cardiovascular Technology or Audiology or Exercise Physiology or Occupational Therapy...or even Public Health...something that could put me in a hospital setting..I need help |
advanceDNA:Another shiiity reality to accept, Englandamaka... Only me was confronted with two organisations asking me to pay money to the tone of millionnnsss...after multiple interviews and what not...and I don't even know if they are 419 sef But all that's in the past now....I seem to have realised that I'm way more than this care assistant shit and I'm looking to get enrolled in a school and actually get a better paid job with more dignity...and in a better country btw I suggest people start reappropriating their funds too for better prospects.... So nobody should send me any foolish message, asking me to share the names of the organisations.. Make Una no vex, I'm just mad..but take time to understand the truth in what I'm saying..peace. |
jum33:Fact!! |
AskGod07:Hahahahahahahahahaha Concrete reason kwanu...these brits will not kii person. |
