Yes, reputation.... Except for the likes of American Uni. of Nig(AUN) AKA, ABTI, an average Nigerian would jump (three times) at the chance to study in a federal university than in a private one. However, there is class of citizens very determined to give their wards an education outside the public schools in Nigeria, the wealthy. A close look at why they prefer to send their kids abroad, outside the rhetorics of "good education", includes the menace of cultism and ASUU. Private universities must find ways to attract this class and THE GOVERNMENT HAS TO/MUST GET INVOLVED. Simply because this is a business... When a business thrives there are ripple effects -employments, taxes, etc. Secondly, this will reduce the pressure on our currency, the figures behind forex for students abroad is just staggering. So private universities should make it their patriotic duty to end "student flight" and the government should help their course. For student flight is as criminal as capital flight. |

I honestly think the guy deserves more recognition I was in Maiduguri when the whole CJTF thing started, It was at a time when boko haram reigned supreme. You dare not TALK about them anywhere whether in a cab, on the streets or even amongst your friends. The clerics dare not preach against them/their activities. As in... You dare not talk about BH even in your room for if you try, you and everyone in your family will be slaughtered at night People get killed simply for selling stuffs to the military not to talk of having a long conversation with them because they'll think you are an informant. It was that bad, and the funny thing is, no one can actually tell who is a BH member. It was at such a dangerous period that this guy threw caution to the wind and jeopardize the safety of everyone he ever knows, family and friends, and engaged some BH guys while on their evil act, over powered one and took him to the military guys. He immediately went on to rally some of his trusted friends to join in the hunt for those guys with the military right behind them. Everyone that was afraid of talking suddenly started exposing the BH within. Everyone became an informant and no one was a target for BH. Consequently they ran out of Maiduguri and waged a war against all Maiduguri people, but inside Maiduguri was safe ever since No, this guy deserves more recognition! |
