kokoA: USA dey always come through for their citizens no matter what.
Actually Nigeria gained here. It is cheaper to release the bagga than run his medical costs here and feed him American food. He won't soak garri like the other detainees. Besides get the Americans to commit to some measures that would benefit the Nigerian government while showing magnanimity.
LocalFARMERS: I stay away from refined Sugar. I mostly use honey instead of Sugar. Recently I decided to use Date fruits as alternative to Sugar. Since Date fruit is a naturally sweet fruits. It's sweetness is extremely high and it has no negative effect on our health.
Ebonygeek: Jennifer carefully adjusted her scarf and stared at her reflection in the adult-sized mirror with a satisfied smile on her face. She looked breathtaking. All the guys in church would definitely notice her that Sunday.
She was wearing a sensual skin-tight hip-length red dress that accentuated her slim hourglass body. And her feet were clad in six-inch black stiletto heels. Around her slender brown neck was a silver choker necklace that one of her ex-boyfriends had given her on her 24th birthday the previous year.
She picked up her black clutch bag from her bedroom table, took one last look at the mirror, and left for service. As she made her way to the bus stop down her street, she had only one goal in mind: she needed to attract a rich nice man for marriage.
***
The female usher standing near the entrance of the church watched in dismay as the beautiful brown-skinned lady sashayed up the steps. From her elevated position, the usher could almost see the lady's underwear as she lifted her legs one at a time to climb the stairs.
The usher moved quickly and stood in front of Jennifer. “I'm sorry, but you can't go into the church dressed like that,” she said calmly, “you have to go home and change.”
Jennifer frowned immediately. “Excuse me?” she replied, scanning the usher from head to toe disdainfuly. The usher repeated the statement.
“What's wrong with what I'm wearing?” she challenged the woman. Not wanting to cause a scene, the usher attempted to take her hand to pull her to a corner, but Jennifer snatched her hand back and tried to enter the church.
Just then, one of the pastors walked up to them and asked what the problem was. He had noticed the lady's outfit too and wondered why satan had decided to send a temptress to the church that day.
Although some ladies usually dressed seductively to church, this woman was particularly daring. Her dress was very short. And it was so tight that he could see the outline of every curve on her body. There was no way they could let her match into the church looking like that. She would distract all the men and make it impossible for them to concentrate.
The female usher told him what was going on. “She's right,” the pastor said, “You can't come into the church like that. If you can't go home and change, you'll have to cover yourself with something or sit at the back where no one can see you.”
But that will ruin my plans, Jennifer thought.
“Why are you people acting like it's a sin or something to look beautiful?”
“It's not a sin to look beautiful my dear. It's a sin to engage in lasciviousness though,” said the man.
“What does that mean?” she asked.
“Galatians 5:19 says: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness. Lasciviousness means lust. When a person lusts after someone or makes other people lust after them, they are sinning against God. Dressing, talking, walking or acting seductive is sinful in God’s eyes. The people who do so won't enter God's kingdom at the end of their lives,” the pastor explained slowly.
“Young lady, here's a piece of advice: you are beautiful. You don't need to be half-naked to show it. If you're dressed like that because you're trying to attract a spouse, you may end up attracting a wolf masquerading as a sheep. Godly men understand God's word and try to live by it. They would avoid you. Only those interested in your body would come. In addition, God would turn away His face from you, leaving your prayers unanswered.”
“Many people think of the church as a social gathering and completely disregard the spiritual aspect. The scriptures say in Matthew 18:20: For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. God is here with us, young woman. He sees all and knows all. He hears all our thoughts and sees all our actions. Please don't make Him pour out His anger on you. Accept Jesus today, and I promise you, your life will become incredible. Everything you seek will come. Don't ignore this message please. God bless you.”
With that, the pastor walked away. Jennifer stood rooted to the floor. After hearing all that the man had said, she suddenly felt very uneasy. She no longer wanted to enter the church dressed the way she was.
“Do you have a wrapper I can cover myself with?” she asked the usher. “Wait here,” the lady replied and went to get Jennifer a covering. Jennifer took it and sat at the far back where some nursing mothers were seated.
As she listened to the pastor’s sermon about living an acceptable Godly life that honours and glorifies God, her heart broke. One particular verse kept echoing in her head.
Psalm 4:3 KJV But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto him.
Was that why she had never received answers to her prayers? Suddenly unable to control herself, she broke down in tears. She felt exhausted. Putting in lots of effort to get money, buying clothes, make up and accessories that accentuated her body, and making sure she looked breathtaking everyday was tiring. She spent a great deal of time doing it; time that could be better spent on more productive activities.
And now, here was a man talking about how pointless everything was. She was spending all her time being obsessed with her physical appearance and neglecting what comes after death. She didn't want to go to hell. With tears in her eyes, she bowed her head and begged God to forgive her for all the sins she had committed. She thanked Him for sending His son to die for her sins and asked Jesus to come into her heart. After praying, she suddenly felt lighter and calmer.
*** The female usher stood at a corner watching the brown-skinned lady and rejoicing in her heart that another soul had just been won. Praise God.
Rapmoney: Nigerian men compromise too much in relationship and marriage. A man who is educated and financially stable can marry an uneducated and financially handicapped girl but the reverse can never happen. Only in the dream or Nollywood movies can a financially stable and educated Nigerian lady marry a broke and uneducated man.
If Nigerian men follow the same pattern women employ in relationships, then many women will clock 45 in their parents' homes.
Ladies should have up to 500k in their bank accounts for a start before they dive into marriage. At least, such can serve as backup so that they don't depend on their partners for every little thing they want. And they should also be working or doing business. No man deserves a liability as a wife. If you don't have up to 500k and above, then go and work or start a trade and leave marriage alone. You are an adult and not a toddler that should be spoonfed.
Don't crucify me. It's my opinion.
You can imagine. Yet another Nigerian guy asked his intended to quit her high paying job cos of ring. Make Una dey continue. Exchange rate na around 1800 to dollars. God help us
advanceDNA: Well...Some pple theorized that.....Elizabeth would never have ruled England without this $imping move...
News flash...... Edward VIII never had children(maybe his fault or Wallis)......so the throne may have passed to his brother, George VI anyways, and would have somehow ended up with Queen Elizabeth II...
still ...the outcome could have been different if he ddnt make this simping move.
because I feel it was Wallis that couldn't have children as she never had any for her two previous husbands....if Edward had married someone's else, he would probably have kids which would have reigned and the throne may not have shifted to George the VI, or his progeny, Queen Elizabeth the II......
While You may see only the funny simping side of this story.....thats not all....see it from the angle that one stupid emotionally driven action could change a lot........one shouldn't always make emotional moves because that's what you want at the time.
Sometimes too much is at stake for you to have what you want... ...If King Edward VIII eventually had kids, the implication of this ridiculous and selfish move would have also relinquished the rights to his unborn kids to the throne along with his
Where is Nlfpmod seff??
That's history, something children these days call simping. It's sad that you didn't learn anything from school
0bjpmb: Onitsha is an industrial city but but it is cleaner and more developed than your dirty slum glorified village state capital. I understand that your governor and is trying but his best is not enough because your state capital is a slum and glorified village full of filth. We all want the best for Igboland but your state is dragging Igboland backwards. We want Igboland to develop
but ur brother-inlaw wife senior you for marriage in a village meeting or group her name comes first before you so she takes right befor you but all these no mater
This exact question popped up in my head a few days ago. don't know why but i just found myself thinking. What if someone marries a first son whose younger brother had already married, what will be the elder brothers wifes' position?
In igbo land, it's very key to know these things because whenever they want to hand over certain things to the wifes' to share or be in charge of, its the senior wife they give it to or put in charge. So, one really needs to know.
Hopefully, some elders will chime in a thing or two about this.
I answered that question. Please look at my answer
goodmorning40: I have seen where this type of issue created a big problem in the family There was an occasion cow was killed and meat shared, the packing of the meat was to be according to seniority, one of the wives made attempt to pack the other objected stressing she is the senior wife since her husband is older than the other wife husband, the other wife refused stressing that she was married first came into the family first so therefore she is senior
Na so kasala burstoo
Please let's not misunderstand issues here. I mean most Igbos know there are unwritten rules to be respected here. As regards the issue you mentioned about sharing meat after killing a cow. Most Igbos know that if it has to be done by family setting, this means that since the head of the house is the man then things like sharing meat for family, the eldest son takes precedence. This means that the wives would take based on the positions of their husbands in the family. I am the last boy in my family so in this case my wife takes last.
If it then happens that the wives are given something to share. For example there was a time my mom was crowned Ezinne and there were so much bails of clothes given to her as gifts that she couldn't wear all. She gave most of them to her daughter's in-laws. In this case they can share by seniority of age or seniority they were married into the family.
Usually in igboland they share by seniority of marriage. In this case our second brother's wife was entitled to take first, the one marrying out eldest brother wanted to make issues and she was put in her place by the rest of the women. She made issues and got her husband involved, they both had to be educated very harshly. Till the first daughter (the one married before her) who was married to our second brother opted to allow her take before her to stop the embarrassment.
0bjpmb: Onitsha is one of the best places to live in Nigeria and Igboland in particular. Onitsha is cleaner than your slum glorified village state capital
Bro, we all know how dirty Onitsha is. Sooudo is trying to make changes to that but am not sure how much he has achieved so far. I mean, if people point out the truth to you, why insult them and call their father lands slum. We Igbos should be careful, nwanne! I mean regardless of how dirty Onitsha can be, it's igboland and am proud to be Igbo.
TinubuCriminal: All the prophets I read of in the Bible died while in active service. Never did I read of anyone retiring from being God's prophet until today.
So explain to me how men of God are retiring in Winners. Does this mean that the retired men of God are no longer for God and if they still are (under a different church) then it is either the church they left or the one they just formed/joined is false.
If so, it means that Winners, RCCG & co are corporate organizations and not churches.
Thank you.
They are not churches. But even priests retire. Ezekiel did meet a retired priest in the bible. I don't remember the verse but you can look it up.
Nemesis0147: Even though I don’t believe that burna boy has a hand in the disappearance of Akpi but if the celebrity in question here was Davido….they for don drag shege comot from his body. His only offense is that he came from a rich family. I wish Akpi all the best.
Both artists don't come from rich families. Burnas family is only well known cos it's a family of musicians
Iamdbull: What I heard is wizkid decided raise the bar for African artist but then Davido decided to settle for less by getting deals for cheaper amount.
Same way most alpha males won't tolerate some things from girls but simps will go ahead and lower the bar and tolerate nonsense.
DAramis: It is unfortunate that this has been a growing trend in Europe. To some of this white guys, the achieve two major things in a relationship with African woman
1. They gets to taste that African pu..ssy, and use it as a bragging rights among their friends with such fetish. 2. They use African woman as a womb donor to get a child. If the child turns out to be like them, the throw the mother out and keep the mixed-race child.
Especially number 2 point, they know they can't try that shits with their own women hence going for some of the gullible African women to achieve their conceptualized idea.
A typical example is one that happened to another African lady in Poland. It would have gone viral like this, but she did video and ask people not to share it. LAYWER (white ) advised her to. The case is in court , and I am sure much might not come out of it since it is now in hush tone.
Anyway, I will wish her luck in getting the baby out from the said guy.
Statement is gullible and very irresponsible. You don't know what led to the above altercation so keep silent till you do
alanto: Note that, there's no Portuguese, German, Russian, not even Mandarin.
Remember tbist. Yoruba is a great tribe like many African tribe. But if you hate on this tribe for no reason. you will face ridicule worldwide without even knowing why.
Meaning: Hi guys, I notice one thing about me. I'm too emotional for a man. I'm too soft hearted. I don't want bad things to happen to anyone. But recently, I realized that people are taking advantage of that and I'm tired.
Please can someone teach me the act of wickedness thru manipulation?
The way you destroy people but act like you are their help. That kind of manipulative destruction.
Any help please.
Nothing wrong with that. You get people to do your fights that way. Don't change your character to please others. But don't be a fool
SpyMaster1: Let me give you some examples that show why I admire Diogenes.
Plato’s Man He lived at the same time as the famous philosopher Plato, who he spent a lot of his life ridiculing. The most famous case of this was while Plato was attempting to define a man, he came up with the definition that a man was a featherless-biped. On hearing this, Diogenes found a chicken, plucked out all its feathers and then ran into Plato’s school holding it while proclaiming “Behold, Plato’s man”.
Meeting Alexander the Great Alexander was greatly interested in philosophy and was a great fan of Diogenes. Upon visiting Diogenes, he was excited to see him and asked if there was any favour at all that Diogenes asked of him. In response, Diogenes, when offered a favour from among the most powerful men alive, replied:
"Yes, step away. You’re blocking my sunlight."
Impressed by this Alexander famously said:
"If I were not Alexander, then I should wish to be Diogenes."
To which Diogenes responded:
"If I were not Diogenes, I too would wish to be Diogenes,”
Living Conditions Diogenes spent many years living in a ceramic vase on the streets (entirely by choice) possessing nought but some clothes and one wooden bowl. He reportedly then broke this bowl upon seeing a servant boy drink from his hands proclaiming:
"Fool that I am, to have been carrying superfluous baggage all this time!”
Henceforth he drank from his hands.
Searching for an Honest Man He would also on regular occasion walk around in broad daylight carrying a lamp and go around looking through crowds and when asked what he was doing, he would proclaim that he was looking for an honest man but unfortunately could not find one.
Public Indecency Many complained about his actions as he was frequently known to:
—Eat in the marketplace
—Defecate in the theatre
—Urinate on people who insulted him
—Masturbate in public
A story upon similar lines states that, when someone took him into a magnificent house and warned him not to spit on anything, he promptly spat straight into the man’s face claiming he could see nowhere else to spit.
Burial When asked how he wanted his remains to be treated after death he requested that he be thrown over the city walls as long as he was given a stick with which to fend off animals. When it was pointed out that he would not be able to use this seeing as he would be… well, dead, he responded by asking why then he should care what happens to him as he would already be dead.
Although he certainly wasn’t as influential as many other philosophers and never wrote any books or taught classes, there are no other philosophers as entertaining to read about.
