Travel / Re: Nigerians In The UK Are So Stingy by drnonye(m): 1:01pm On Sep 21, 2009
My 3 month in uk, i got a call from friend of mine. Was requesting i send her a laptop. Ok, i asked her if she had internet in her house. To my surprise, she said no. She said she would take it 2 the cafe and use the internet facility, people, what’s the point.

Now they say we r stingy. I can’t be bothered.

Whether TBJ is 4 real or not, i don’t know and i certainly don’t care.

But, if he is 4 real, i put a challenge to him and his members. Use these prophecies to avert destruction. Is that not the point of having this unique ability?

Personally, i don’t believe in prophecies. I know people with failed marriages becos of these so called prophets. ( my apology to those who may b 4 real)

We are all equal in the eyes of God. God speak s 2 us all, we just have 2 listen,. Doesn’t matter have sinful we are. Talk 2 God ur self. He is our father isn’t it?
Politics / Re: Yar'adua Will Not Attend Un General Assembly by drnonye(m): 12:19pm On Sep 21, 2009
If Yaradua is really ill, then that’s a problem.

I wonder if his state of health is affecting his management of the country.

He didn’t just get ill.

This raises questions on the role of INEC in screening candidate esp. 4 such an import office.

If Yaradua has a terminal illness, the chairman of INEC at that time should be called and held accountable.

guys,

i don’t think AjaraEwuro  knows wat the time is.

I understand where he is coming from. his argument is based on his level of exposure.

b4 i came 2 the uk, i always believed that potholes were normal and whenever it wants 2 rain, power has to go off.

AjaraEwuro  wat we r trying 2 sink in2 your head is this:

No country stands when the people don’t have the basic of life. it is your right 2 have good school, jobs, good road, water, good medical facility etc. All theses stuffs isn’t luxury.

Tinapa is a good idea, but will only work if the goverment is accountable, and provide the nigerian people with the basics .

this is 2009 , and we r the 7th higest producer of crude oil.

My brother spoke abt paying tax. I will only pay tax if I know the government I pay tax to can b held accountable. I will b stupid 2 give my hard earned money 2 a government that depend on public fun 2 enrich them self.

AjaraEwuro and Walata
My brothers, tell me honestly, what is the problem. y are u guys pouring your frustration on Nigerians living aboard.

tell me the problem? Is it relationship problem, financial, r u stil looking 4 a job, r u having problem getting visa etc.  I honestly want 2 help . come out clean. Remember wat the bible say, ‘ask and u shall be given’

So , be good boys and stop being so aggressive and rude , it only makes u look so uncultured .

Remember people read our posts and not just Nigerians.  U sound like life is perfect back home, but judging from your choice of words, I see a lonely, frustrated, angry, desperate, confused guy.

Guys, u need exposure o . I will not trade words with u
Business / Re: Lovely Pictures Of Tinapa Water Park. by drnonye(m): 7:53pm On Sep 18, 2009
AjaraEwuro You r just a frustrated looser. How dare u say OVIE’s MUM is waiting for him on her bed.
Mayb that’s what u and your mum do.
If u can’t argue in a constructive manner, go 2 a porn site and chat with your type.
Where is all these anger coming from? R u sure u r even a Nigerian?
Business / Re: Lovely Pictures Of Tinapa Water Park. by drnonye(m): 6:29pm On Sep 18, 2009
hahahahhaha grin grin grin grin
. AjaraEwuro, Y r u very abusive. using the 'F' word.

Take it easy my brother. No b fight.  We r only sharing ideas here,  if N500 naira be small thing 4 u, no vex.  Just simply say N500 has no value and we will get the message.

Meanwhile, just under your name AjaraEwuro   reads  ,(London - the best place to be) undecided

So bro, r u 4 real?

Business / Re: Lovely Pictures Of Tinapa Water Park. by drnonye(m): 5:25pm On Sep 18, 2009
What else can I say. The government will continue to take advantage of our ignorance. In reality, about $340 million was spent since 2005 to dec 2009. I don’t know the current figure. Is this money well spent,? Only time will tell knowing Nigeria has a horrible maintenance culture. A good example is the Ajaokuta Steel Company that has never produced a tonne of steel in the 25 years.

I really hope this tourism project works out without first addressing the basic problems of Nigeria.

Kobojunkie, thank God u feel me. Provide the basics which in turn encourage investors. Also, competition amongst investors, which will provide jobs and reduce the cost of living.  Investors  in tourism, education, entertainment, manufacturing etc.

Hi BabaTony,
U compare Nigeria today to UK of 1845. I believe that UK has fairly maintained its development with the pace of the world. This is 2010 my brother and we are still taking abt good road, power, water? Come on.
I take it u haven’t visited calabar. I guess u are a good person . tell me honestly what u would do if u were unemployed, no money, no light ….etc and u see foreigners on your land enjoying amenities u can’t afford.  Would u wave to them and say, continue to enjoy our wealth.
Now u know y folks may kidnap and rob these foreigners. Now u know y we have loads of prostitutes in calabar, which will guarantee a spread of STI, like HIV.
I am not saying the calabar government should build a concord plane, sky scrapers, titanic…, etc.
all I am saying is use the  scarce resources to provide  basic infrastructure which will provide jobs and grantee better standard of living and ultimately reduce crime., thereby making tourism big business.

God bless the federal republic Nigeria
Business / Re: Lovely Pictures Of Tinapa Water Park. by drnonye(m): 1:01pm On Sep 18, 2009
Finally  Walata44 we both agree that the Nigerian people deserve basic infrastructure which will provide jobs and grantee better standard of living and ultimately reduce crime. Thereby making tourism big business. As tenspr777 rightly pointed out, leave the establishment and running of amusement parks to the private sector.

Now where we disagree is if u r exposed or not and if u stay in London as u want nairaland to believe. Ok, inasmuch as i honestly question the extent of your exposure judging from your previous posts, 4 the records, I don’t really care where u @.  Whats more important is we share the same love 4 our country which should b within acceptable norms and values.

God bless Nigeria
Business / Re: Lovely Pictures Of Tinapa Water Park. by drnonye(m): 12:24pm On Sep 18, 2009
hi Walata44,
i guess u misunderstood the point i was trying  to make in  my previous post. really, i cant be bothered if u stay in London, France or Vietnam   that's not my problem.
OK, lets  believe u stay in UK. and lets aslo believe u reside in the  UK  legally , u would have access to some facilities like , over draft, credit card, shop cards, personal loans, mortgage etc.

basically , u live on credit like every legitimate resident of the UK. which indirectly means u have no money, but apparently, living a good life.

have u asked your self, why people aren't so violent in the UK judging from the fact everything they claim to owe were bought on credit.  from their cars , to  t.v and in some cases, cloths.

its no rocket  science, i will tell  u y.  its because the basic things to make life worth living is so easy to come by. come on, i dont know what part of London u claim to stay, but have u experienced power failure, no water, cant you afford your GP prescriptions etc. ?

dont know how long u have been in the UK but i will tell u want my people want,  good roads, jobs, power, water , good schools, security, responsible health care,   when we have all these, then , we can go to the park and truly relax.
Business / Re: Lovely Pictures Of Tinapa Water Park. by drnonye(m): 11:33am On Sep 18, 2009
hi BabaTony,
i must confess u have raised some very good points. folks like u make me know Nigerian definitely have great minds.
but  , we appear 2 share different view to the the same problem. i believe that , rather building  some fancy park, why dont d government be honest with them self and tackle the needs of the people.  come on look at our schools, our hospitals , people still die of preventable illness.

this is my angle,   tourism will not work when the wellcoming country face basic infrastucture problems.
come on, who r we kidding. do u really think the money generated from the project go to the people of calaber.

if u provide Nigerians with basic things like light, goodroad, water, jobs etc,   crime will reduce. Nigeria will b attractive to people with or without tinapa. we r trying to encourage tourism, while foreign compains here in Nigeria are trying to get out  esp to Ghana.

as i said, no one builds a house on a poor foundation. it will fall. the Nigerian people r the foundation 4 any growth.  treat us like shit, and no matter how beautiful the structure is (tinapa) it will fall.

God bless Nigeria
Business / Re: Lovely Pictures Of Tinapa Water Park. by drnonye(m): 1:18am On Sep 18, 2009
hi Walata44,
lets b honest here, u have not been outside Nigeria. cos if u have, u would b singing a different song. personally, i believe Fegflu is more exposed than u which makes her far wiser than u. no disrespect. just the bitter truth. its like putting expensive furniture in a house with poor foundation. whats the point.

now, with the rate of unemployment, who can afford to visit such a place. i wouldn't b suprise if u cant even afford to visit the place

y do u think we have alarming rise in violence, kidnap, corruption, teenage pregnancy , strikes,STI, etc (do i go on, ). i will tell u y .

our so called government dont address the needs of the people, rather they address their sellfish personal wants.

do your self a favour, apologise to Fegflu
Career / Re: Diamond Bank Adopts New Workings Hours!--- 7pm Closing Time. by drnonye(m): 4:56pm On May 28, 2009
TD Bank here in Canada closes at 9PM. They are the only bank that is open late, maybe this a niche that Diamond Bank is also trying to capture. You people do realize that it will not be every banker who will be working until close on any given day-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

JosBoy4Lif lets be more realist here. Nigeria isn’t the same as Canada. Finishing work by 9pm isn’t a big deal in Canada.

i have been 2 Canada loads of times and it’s a safe place 2 be. Security is still a big issue in Nigeria.
u honestly want to b on the Nigeria road by 8pm all dressed in ur suit and a fancy car? , i don’t think so.

I believe staff willing 2 work late to do some extra work should be given some form of incentive. Folks are taking advantage of the situation back home.

Isn’t there an association protecting banker’s interest in Nigeria?

TV/Movies / Re: Dragon's Den Nigeria: Upcoming Reality TV Show by drnonye(m): 1:15am On Aug 22, 2008
I wonder how the Dragons Den will work in Nigeria. Who will come on air to talk about his idea or invention? Nigeria has no regard for patent right. Its possible that B4 the end of the program, a fellow Nigerian will go 2 China and mass produce your invention to sell cheap. Even the dragons you are telling your idea to may say its nonsense just to go behind you to develop it for themselves. I stay in UK. I don’t miss dragons den every week. It’s a great program. This is my advice to my brilliant Nigerian brothers and sisters. Don’t go on air and make your ideas or invention public under the name of a TV show. Put your ideas in writing, patent it and find a way of presenting it in power points to your target company. Get a lawyer to back paper works. This is just an idea. It might not b the best but it is definitely better than going on air.

hadewal1 i don’t think u need 2 show ur bank statement. I guess its only your sponsor that needs 2 present a bank statement. if u have money in ur acc, maybe it would b a good idea 2 add the money 2 ur sponsor's account. But note that while the balance is very important, the source of the money is also important.

fine_boy. yes i made a deposit. Actually, i paid almost all my fees b4 applying 4 visa. But I have friends here that made far less deposit.
i wish u luck guys

Education / Re: Admission Into University Of Aberdeen Scotland by drnonye(m): 7:32pm On Aug 03, 2008
Hi
i am currently a student of the uni Aberdeen. But i am here for MSc health science and public health research. Regards applying for the visa, u have 2 take time and plan it. I was refused d 1st time. Make sure the account to use in applying has a source of income. Regards the trip 2 usa. It is true. A lot of Nigerians get the visa as must in oil and gas students in Scotland r Nigerians. When granted, it would b a 2 years visa. You have to make the application your self with evidence u a student of the university. It’s no big deal. There is a 97% chance of getting the visa.
I wish u luck.

otokx i love your spirit. Do me a favour. Go out 2day and ask any1 u see on the street, if they would accumulate illegal wealth if given the opportunity. U will be amazed how deep our corruption is. Even if they say they will not, their family will b disappointed with them. No doubt Nigeria will get better but not in our time
Politics / Re: Yar’adua Declares War On Militants by drnonye(m): 12:48pm On Jul 26, 2008
CyberG your point is valid but u and i know it will not work in Nigeria. Maybe we have a pathological problem in corruption. Give a state power 2 run its affairs and u will see the story of animal farm. They will oppress their people with militants and pay the military 2 b quiet. Working out the solution 4 Nigeria is possible but it may not b in our time.
Politics / Re: Yar’adua Declares War On Militants by drnonye(m): 12:11am On Jul 04, 2008
Hi
iseobio no disrespect, but i believe u should listen to Sky Blue. It is not rocket science to figure out that those so called 'freedom fighters' r bunch of criminals. I total agree the people in general have every reason to be angry, but carrying arms is unacceptable. What kind of image r they trying to display. They are no better than the terrorists we see in Iraq and Afghanistan. Why don’t they tailor their anger to the state government? Moneys given to the state and local government are published. Why don’t they hold them accountable rather than acting like bunch of illiterates killing, kidnapping and raping innocent people? I believe the catch is the oil. Their aim is to break up Nigeria so they can own the oil. Even if they succeed, I see destruction amongst them selves. They r lucky i am not the president. I would make sure they never live to hurt any body again.
Politics / Re: Ribadu Fired! by drnonye(m): 12:51am On Dec 29, 2007
I left Nigeria 3 months ago. Before I left, I had great expectation of our president. After reading what u guys have to say, its certain President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua is as hopeless as other pass president. To make it worse, he is a graduate. When u c how other leaders take care of their citizens, u begin to wonder if the black man cursed. No Nigerian is happy 2 be here. Honestly we go through a lot here with the cold weather, immigration wahala, racism etc. All these leaders in Nigeria have their kids here. spending Nigerians tax payers money foolishly.
Ribadu is a good man. He has my respect. I pray President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, former Governor James Ibori, Inspector General of Police and other thieves get same judgment like Abacha
