What if someone sneaks in by the side while the gate is opening at night and holds a household hostage.
Having a guard is still advantageous.

Party based appointments and man-know-man positions need to be done away with as the president is ultimately responsible for whatever his appointees deliver. The buck stops with the president in any democratic setting. Period. Obama doesn't have to be in Syria fighting Isis to take responsibility for what his armed forces are doing. why is it only in Nigeria that people feel the leader is doing us a favor and is not responsible for whatever he has already delegated to someone else

Why is the US even bothered about fighting ISIS that is thousands of miles away in Syria? It needs to fight terrorism before it comes home to roost as is presently the case in Nigeria, even still Jonafish refuses to act. If the tide is not stemmed, it will shock him when the insurgents will take the FCT and Aso Rock to go with. Jonafish should not do it for Nigerians but for his own good before our seat of governance falls to terrorist hands who our military cannot even match. We don't want Islamic Caliphate of Nigeria please.

Y'all keep making excuses for bad government till the terrorists advance to Aso Rock and take poise from a clueless resistance, then you will have to swear allegiance to the terrorists as people in the captured territories are doing right now.

But the President doesn't directly equip the military. Like every organisation there is a chain of authority responsible for procurement. Goodluck Jonathan is unlikely to know the difference between a 9mm, 7.62mm or a 5.56mm (NATO) round in combat or how many 150mm shells NACA has in its inventory but he should know someone who knows all these and rely absolutely on their professional advice. What we can hold him responsible for is putting the square peg in the square hole, evaluating the progress of the campaign and in my opinion balancing the budget in such a way that the campaign is sustainable because without food all the arms and ammunition in th world is useless in battle. It is so easy for an economy to collapse at the instance of heavy military spending. History is awash with many, many tragic examples and to strike a balance between fighting fire and rescuing your goods is exceptionally difficult.

If the insurgency hits our economy in our quest to end it quickly by an arms spending spree then we are done anyway. As I type this the news wires say the naira has just experienced the steepest decline in 3 years no thanks to the falling oil prices which is now below the budget benchmark (something Okonjo Iweala warned about at the turn of the year but she was derided by the Lower house, governors and mischievious Nigerians). Now we have to spend more on a war you cannot budget for.

We are in for it. Period.

Well articulated, however we need the President to be up and doing.

Ehhmm. I don't really think u should blame that man... the highest a President can do against terrorists is by Sending his equipped army against them, and I guess he has done that.
The outcome of the battle will now depend on the army's success. You never for once expect GEJ to dress in a camouflage, wield a gun and come to the bushes to fight BH, Do u?
The best results will come if the dwellers of the northeast cooperate...
mind you I'm speaking from experience, im in the northeast presently.

Point of correction, your military is not adequately equipped else we would not be talking of the army being routed by Boko Haram 70% of the time in combat. Those brave young men have shed their blood enough. Why don't you go and fight BH and find out better?

@sooperrescue I've learnt a lot from this thread and your advice to the folks here seems genuine (I throway salute for that 2005 to 2010 pimping).

My former mechanic would have advised the guy with the suspension controls issue to change the TCM and the entire handbrake assembly (all costing 300k including service charge and programming) which wouldn't fix half of the issues. The major problem range rover owners have is that most technicians are out for blood, it can be frustating when you fall into the wrong hands. They have a way of creating new problems and overcharging you for them. Proffering useless solutions that will drain you and enrich them ( Since they think you are too rich to be driving a range rover anyways).

I burnt over 600k before I could get my AC fixed and it later went bad. The AC control module(110k) was the culprit affected by a leaky sunroof( which is common in the RRS 07-09). I would advice owners to order parts themselves in order to save cost. This practice has saved me up to 70k on single parts I ordered myself. In the early days I was ripped off on everythhing down to the bolts.
For those aspiring take note that the average brand new mechanical part costs 100k but brand new parts is the way to go.
With an honest technician you will enjoy your ride..

Some serious grilling here
MissG: Hello All, I would like to share my POE experience as this thread has been very helpful.
I am having my baby in Dallas but flew in through New York on BA as I had a company workshop to attend.
I travelled last week at 35 weeks

Me: Good morning
CO: Good morning
CO: What is the purpose of your trip?
Me: Company workshop and to have my baby (Don't think she heard the baby part and she asked me to finger print)
CO: What's the length of your stay?
Me: 2 months ( She then gave me a weird look)
Me: I am staying two months as I want to have my baby here
CO: Oh are you pregnant? ( I don't blame her as my bump isn't so obvious plus I look fabulous smiley
Me: Yes
CO: Where is your boyfriend
Me: I am married and he will join me just before I am due (Wasn't wearing my wedding ring as my fingers got a little swollen on the flight)
CO: Please come with me (She took me in for secondary interview and gave my passport to one of the officers)
CBP: What's the purpose of your trip
Me: Company workshop and to have my baby
CBP: Why?
Me: Why to which of my answers, the workshop or the baby?
CBP: The baby
CBP: Its my first child and my husband and I want the best medical care
CBP: Why (gives me a funny look)
Me: Like I said best medical care as I have lost someone during child birth (I had a funny look on my face too)
CBP: Where do you intend on having your baby
Me: Told him
CBP: How much will it cost you and how much do you have on you.
Me: Told him how much the prices were and I had paid $3000 hospital bill and had $9000 cash on me.
CBP: $3000 is just a deposit, your total bill can be more than that. Let me see your receipt
Me: I know that is why I have $9000 cash on me. I gave him the receipt for the hospital and email correspondence with the Doctor's office (He took his time reading through it page by page
CBP: The hospital and doctor's fee is not all you will need to pay for, there is paediatrician and epidural and in case you end up having CS the cost goes up.
Me: I will not spend up to $500 on Paediatrician and told him how much the Doctor and hospital will charge extra for CS (He took a pen and started calculating, after he was done) I said that is why I have $9000 in cash in case of any unforeseen circumstances. (He then smiled a little)
CBP: Where will you be staying
Me: My brother in-law
CBP: What does he do
Me: Told him
CBP: Does he have a green card or a citizen
Me: Citizen
CBP: What is his name
ME: Told him (looks him up on his computer)
CBP: He is certified
CBP: Where is your husband and is he coming to join you.
Me: He is in Nigeria and he will come before I am due
CBP: What is your husband's DOB.
Me: Told him
CBP: Is that your husband (Shows me a pic of him from his Visa application)
Me: Yes
CBP: When is he coming
Me: Btw x and y not sure
CBP: Let me see what my boss has to say (While he was packing my documents, he saw the letter I wrote the embassy asking if I should go ahead with dropbox to renew my visa as I intend to have my baby, they had written back saying I should go ahead with the dropbox and I didn't have any legal obligation to inform them of my intentions to have my baby etc...) He said oh is that what they said, and took the letter with the rest of my documents and came back in less than a minute
CBP: How long are you in New York for
Me: Told him
CBP: Stamps me in for 6 months.
CBP: Do you have any food
Me: Yes and told him what I had.
CBP: Enjoy your stay (Hands me my passport and documents)
Me: Thank you.

Went to pick up my bags, another CBP officer who collected my landing card asked what food items I had, told him and that was it.
I had, Ogi, Indomie, Ogbono, Pounded yam, Maggi, dry pepper.

My advice, make sure you have all correspondence with the doctor and hospital, let them know your intentions at the visa interview or after if you already have a visa. Be confident as its not against the law to have your baby in the US, just make sure you do not intend to use any of their medical aids. Finally PRAY and ask God for favour, only his grace can see your through.
