Obviously, you don't get it; and, have never been in a marriage relationship. Being 'weak' or 'strong' has nothing do with this context. Balance in marriage counselling (bereft of scape-goating either the man or the woman) is the only hope for the survival of the marriage institution--- Is not instructive that, unlike present-day American and feminist-inspired thinking on the subject, God, in Genesis, did not single out either party (mostly men) for blame? Think about it!

Moreover, former President Obasanjo summed it up beautifully when he described our so-called African brothers and sisters who relish Nigeria's help in their times of need only to turn round and stick the knife in Nigeria’s back at Nigeria’s times of need as 'Ungrateful Ingrates'. This phenomenon has been going on for quite so long that it demands more critical thinking and analyses than the simplistic approach some commentators, even some Nigerian commentators, give to it. What 'they' do or do not do to Nigeria matters very little. Rather: NIGERIA AND NIGERIANS, HONESTLY, REALLY AND SERIOUSLY NEED TO URGENTLY START RE-APPRAISING AND THINKING MORE DEEPLY ABOUT THE NATURE, TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THEIR RELATION AND ASSOCIATION WITH OTHER AFRICAN COUNTRIES AS WELL AS THEIR POLICIES TOWARDS THEM!!!

A quick one:

How long ago did she return from the US for the NYSC?
When is she scheduled to proceed on NYSC? Is she already drafted? If so, to which state?
Circle of friends?
Any fiance?
Any unwanted suitor(s)?
Any minor or major domestic squabbles lately, especially just before she left home?
What has been her general mood in the days preceding her walk?
Any gate-man at the house (any domestic security measures in place at home)?

Candid responses, please.

Worst thing that can happen to a marriage is when she hid an out of wedlock 10 year-old daughter somewhere and suddenly springs her up on you after you marry her!
Worst thing that can happen to a marriage is when she agrees to come to your country for you two to wed; she agrees that you'll set up home in your country after the wedding; she agrees that after wedding she would only be traveling outside your country just for short business trips; but a couple of months thereafter vows never to live in your country.
Worst thing that can happen to a marriage is when in her preferred 'paradise' of a country, she serially and literally walks from one trouble to another and you are compelled to go there to sort her out, and, then, get trapped in that foreign country in the sense of staying far longer than you had intended; so much so that by the time you manage to wriggle out of the situation and return to your own country, you discover that your property in your rented apartment are all gone; and, she is not even bothered one bit about that new reality.
Worst thing that can happen to a marriage is when you chose her because she said she is a Christian, your wedding was a Christian wedding done in a Bible-believing Church, and your home is a Christian home; yet she defies you and brings her younger sister who is a Muslim to stay with you fully aware of the possibility for tension that that kind of situation would generate.
Worst thing that could happen to a marriage is when she is married, but acts and flirts like a single!
Worst thing that can happen to a marriage is when the only person she listens to, the person who is her role-model is her US-based senior sister who, like her, also had a son out-of-wedlock before being married to an American who just recently divorced her!

pisolution: A wannabe aviator, Mr. Kehinde Durojaiye Obasanjo, built a locally made engine in a contraption that runs on road and sea.

SaharaTV found him operating the contraption in Ikeja to attract minor donors who collected his Compact Disk in which he said he recorded its operation on water.

Mr. Obasanjo said he designed it to operate on three mediums: ground, water and air, but has only achieved two due to financial constraints. But for now, the invention can only run on ground and water.

He said he had contacted State Governments of Lagos and Ogun to find support, but he only got their promise since beginning of 2013.

Please watch the video here: http://www.magazine.believersboard.com/nigerian-builds-unusual-jet-car-video/

Those who care to know should ask ECOWAS Commission about their experience with this guy; or, even Ghana (about 30 of whose citizens living in Gambia he murdered in cold blood only to rub in the insult by marrying in absentia a 22-year old Muslim Ghanaian girl from Kumasi). Clearly, Nigeria is the target of this set-up-just indirectly sizing up Nigeria! Too bad that Nigerians often choose to believe the worst of their compatriots. But should they always?

Kweku Baako 'fears' for Ghanaian Chief Justice for The Gambia

The managing editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper says he is fearful for Justice Mabel Yamoa Agyemeng, the Ghanaian who has been appointed as new Chief Justice of The Gambia.
Justice Mabel Yamoa Agyemang, was appointed by President Yahya Jammeh as a replacement for the dismissed Justice Joseph Wowo.
Justice Yamoa Agyemang is an expert Appeal Court judge from the Commonwealth Secretariat and has extensive experience in working to strengthen the judiciary in Commonwealth countries such as Swaziland and The Gambia.
While congratulating her on this meritorious appointment, Kweku Baako said he will be praying for the new Chief Justice because of “that crazy guy” [Yahya Jammeh].
According to him, Justice Mabel Agyemang is in a turbulent jurisdiction of justice because prior to her appointment, The Gambian president had sacked four judges since 2006.
They are two Nigerians and two Gambians. He revealed that one of the Gambian judges has been jailed on trumped-up allegations of corruption. He referred to the 2006 resignation of Justice Brobbey another Ghanaian appointed to The Gambia as Chief Justice.
He said the sudden nature of his resignation was a sign enough that justice in The Gambia is in the eyes of the president and not in the eyes of the rule of law.
“He is a difficult person to work with. He does not understand what justice means. I don’t trust Yahya Jammeh,” Baako said.
He expressed the hope that the Chief Justice would last but added a caveat that, he would not be surprised if she is removed from office or resigns.
He also said there was a power struggle going on in the judiciary as a result of her appointment. This was because she was appointed straight from the Appeals Court when other Supreme Court judges were gunning for the top post.
Nonetheless, he says her appointment shows that Ghana’s human resource has an international dimension.

His Excellency General Olusegun Obasanjo's moved on the army with deliberate speed after being sworn in as President in 1999 and retired several thousand officers of northern extraction. Forget the dress-up of that exercise as being to remove officers who had tested political power. The blunt truth is that this was an officer from a different part of Nigeria, from a different tribe, from a different religion who deliberately decimated officers of the military from the north to ensure his own survival. Interesting that no one either threatened mutiny, or wholesale annihilation of His excellency General Obasanjo's ethnic nation then!

With due respect, it was during the tenure of His Excellency General Olusegun Obasanjo that a large swathe of ststes in northern Nigeria in quick succession started declaring themselves officially as sharia states, against the spirit and letter of the Nigerian Constitution. His Excellency General Obasanjo's response then of to do nothing actually emboldened those states and actually set the stage for Nigeria's current security situation. The world is really keenly watching you Nigerians to see how you measure up to your claims to being the giants of Africa, or whether you are even ready to join the 21st century.

(DAILY TRUST)
Nigeria: Army, Navy Officers Grumble Over Promotions
By Mohammed S. Shehu and Misbahu Bashir, 24 December 2012
Officers in the Army and Navy are grumbling over alleged lopsidedness in the recent promotions.
The Army last week promoted 22 Brigadier Generals to the rank of Major General and 37 Colonels to the rank of Brigadier General. Also promoted were 91 Lieutenant Colonels to the rank of Colonel.
Weeks earlier, the Navy also conducted its own promotions of 112 officers.
Daily Trust learnt that many officers feel aggrieved because they are left out of the promotions exercise even though they are qualified and that there are vacancies to fill.
There are also allegations that certain sections of the country have been favoured to the detriment of others.
In the list of Army promotions published last week, no details of state of origin of the officers were given.
But Daily Trust learnt that of those promoted to Major Generals, South-South has 5, South-West 4, South-East 3, North-Central 4, North-West 3 and North-East 3.
Colonels promoted to Brigadier Generals in the North-West were 4, North-Central 8, Northeast 1, South-East 7, South-West 9 while South-South got 8.

A source told Daily Trust that in a particular Army corps, only two officers were promoted to the rank of Brigadier General even though many vacancies were available.
When contacted, the Director of Army Public Relations, newly-promoted Major General Mobolaji Koleoso, said he was not aware about the allegations and will not make comment on them.
In the Navy, 112 senior officers were promoted to various ranks late last month. The exercise involved 19 Commodores moved to the rank of Rear Admiral, 40 Captains to the rank of Commodore, 33 Commanders to the rank of Captain and 20 Lieutenant Commanders to the rank of Commander.
A senior officer in the Navy said the promotions were skewed against the North, with no officer from the Northeast getting promoted even though there is a particular state that has four officers on the promotions list.
Navy's Director of Information Commodore Kabir Aliyu could not be reached for comments.
'How military officers are promoted'
A source in the military gave Daily Trust an insight into how promotions are done in the armed forces.
"On the promotion calendar, a particular course year for regular and short service officers is supposed to be promoted to the rank of Major General, Brigadier General and Colonel," the source said.
"However, because of the inability of their predecessors billed for promotion to secure promotion and move on, it became difficult for some of the officers to be promoted even though they are qualified for promotion.
"Therefore, those who are due for promotion have to wait for the top to be cleared. By implication, some of these officers have to spend more years on a particular rank against the establishment standard of progression in the military.
"In order to pacify some of these officers and keep the system moving, some of them have to be promoted and retired to give space for others."
On requirements for promotion, the source explained further: "The Army has established qualification requirements for promotion of officers. There are basically three requirements: C+ from either War Collage, Command and Staff Collage and other courses; awards garnered during the period like the Chief of Army Staff award, National Honour, Personal Evaluation Report (PER) for good conducts and establishment; and lastly geo political zone to balance the equation. All these depend on when there is vacancy and age on rank."
The source also said in spite of the criteria, favouritism may creep in.
"You cannot rule out favour in such kind of activity. It is natural some will be favoured but it minimal in the army because of the discipline," he said.
"If you look at the promotion, you will find out that while some geopolitical zones have two or three Generals, others have six and above."
Regarding the "age on rank" policy, the source said under this, "you are expected to make the rank of a Brigadier between the age 50 and 53, Major General 53 and 55."

Grumbling also occured in the Nigeria Army in August 2010 (see news excerpts below).
Was it personalised to the then Chief of Army Staff? No! Was ethnicism read into the then bone ofr contention? No! Did it lead to threats of mutiny? No! Did it lead to ethnic profiling of the entire ethnic nationality of General Agwai and a corresponding widespread threat of their annihilation? No! Did it lead to threats of mutiny? No!
Why now?
Can Nigeria and Nigerians break the vicious cycle of constantly dragging their sordid past inter-ethnic and -religious bickering into their emerging glorious future; and, for once, actually prove to Mother Africa and the entire black race that its claim to being the giant of Africa is no longer a hollow claim?

It is only in the Nigerian Army that the sheep tames the lion. Officers with journalism and PR background are left out for novice from another arm/Corps of the Army to be P.R.O of the Army. Where is profesionalism in this? The truth is the Army loathes intelligent men. It is only in the Nigerian Army that" Army Day" is celebrated the Day the Nigerian Civil War began, simply because low level of literacy discouraged research into the Day & Month of 1863, when the Nigerian Army was actually founded.
Those of us who can not afford to continue to swim in the ocean of ignorance has to come out and reach out for the towel.
Above all, the action of the incumbent Chief of Army Staff is wrong. As the first literate and enlightened COAS he should not be retrogressive like his 'drop-outs' predecessors, whose only criteria for selection is back-stabbing, treachery, and set-up.
Anyway, may be one officer is out there, whom the powers that be is witch-hunting and so the drag net should spread far and wide. Afterall it was in the Army that simply because a Private soldier who was girl friend to a General was pregnant, and since it is an offence, a Commissioning Exercise was hurriedly organised to cover up, and ofcourse she was commissioned immediately and for her sake few benefitted. Nigerian Army we hail thee.
It is a pity that gross corruption has been institutionalised in our Army. A former COAS once quipped afterall; "our Army has become an Army of anything is possible". It is sad.

Loud grumbling in Nigerian Army against leadership

By Sebastine Ebhuomhan, Law Reporter, Lagos

Peace and order usually identified as the fibre that holds the Nigerian Army together may come under threat soon as a result of growing discontentment turning soldiers and officers against the Army leadership.
Investigations by Daily Independent last week showed that not a few soldiers, majority of who are of the junior officers’ rank, are not happy with the way the army, under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Martins Luther Agwai, is handling issues of welfare and personnel development, among others.
However, efforts to find out how the Army authorities are handling the threat have not been successful even as the Director, Army Public Relations Department, Colonel Mohammed Danjuma Yusuf, said it was illegal not only for a serving army officer to go on self-sponsorship in civil institutions, but to also grumble over something that is not a right.
Soldiers of the once cohesive force of Africa’s most populous race are grumbling over the inability of the Army authorities to pay the 2005 budgeted furniture allowance long after it has been approved by the National Assembly.
Secondly, some of them are also protesting the refusal of Army authorities to commission soldiers that have successfully completed education on self-sponsored studies in civil institutions.
It was learnt that apart from removing the names of such graduates from the most recent Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) exercise for soldiers, an order from the office of the COAS to formation and directorate heads further directed the withdrawal of all remaining soldiers or officers so pursuing higher education in civil tertiary institutions.
A letter from the Military Secretary (Army), Bonny Cantonment, Victoria Island, Lagos, entitled “Illegal Release of Soldiers into Civil Institutions,” dated July 26, 2005 and signed by Major-General H. M. Dzarma for COAS, explained the rationale for the non-commissioning of the DSSC applicants as well as the necessity for a withdrawal of the remaining soldiers. The letter, which was exclusively obtained during investigations, referred to two other letters on the issue that was first handled under the late military head of state, General Sanni Abacha. The initial letters referred to were marked A and B as follows: NA/230/218/EDN of January 3, 1994 and NA/230/151/EDN of June 13, 1996.
“I am directed to convey the COAS’s disappointment on learning from the recent DSSC exercise for soldiers that many of your personnel were illegally released to study in civil institutions in clear violation of References A and B. I am to state that this is a clear violation of standing orders, which is punishable under our related acts. To compensate such illegal releases with commissioning is a decision the COAS finds most repugnant,” Dzarma charged in the letter.
“For avoidance of doubt, I am further directed to inform you to withdraw all remaining soldiers or even officers illegally released to pursue higher education in tertiary institutions,” the letter that was called “last warning” added.
Reacting anonymously to the letter, soldiers have not only accused the COAS of bias, but also breaking his own rule at will. They accused the army boss of using the excuse of illegal release lamely to commission only favoured and unqualified soldiers instead, besides “reluctantly using his discretion to grant concession” to some of the “illegally released” soldiers.
It may be recalled that thousands of graduate and hopeful soldiers applied for the Direct Short Service Commission exercise that was held between May 28 and June 4 this year. A total of 700 names were short-listed after the exercise out of which only 50 were commissioned eventually. The successful soldiers would now proceed on rigorous training in Jaji from August 21.
On the issue of furniture allowance, many of the soldiers are grumbling over the unexplained delay of payment even after President Olusegun Obasanjo officially launched the car loan scheme for senior officers of the Army several weeks ago in Abuja.
Indeed, investigations showed that other arms of the nation’s armed forces have either paid their junior personnel or are already doing so. For example, it was confirmed during enquiries that the Nigerian Navy has indeed paid.
The Nigerian Army had promptly reacted to the initial rumour of growing agitation in another restricted letter that was issued on June 30, 2005 in Abuja and which was exclusively obtained also. The letter that was titled: “Grumbling Over Non-Payment of Furniture Allowance,” signed by Chief of Administration (Army), Major General Y. Usman, cited “unresolved details” between the executive and legislative arms of government as reason for the delay. But this would appear not to have gone down well with the aggrieved soldiers, who want the Army authorities to approach and ask those of the Nigerian Navy how they overcame the problems before paying the naval personnel their furniture allowances.
In his reaction that came after several failed attempts to get him, Yusuf, who spoke on his mobile telephone line from Abuja after a meeting with generals on Monday, denied that furniture allowance payment was a yearly affair. Informed that personnel of the Nigerian Navy had been paid and asked when the Army last paid its personnel, he retorted that the reporter should find that out from the record books.
“I don’t’ know. You can go to the record books to find that out yourself. But, all I can tell you is that furniture allowance is not paid to soldiers every year. They have been paid before and if they are not yet paid, I don’t know why that should make any soldier grumble. At least, I am a junior officer, I am not grumbling. So, I don’t know where you found those that are grumbling,” he said.
On the DSSC controversy, he said the affected Army personnel should be grateful to the COAS rather than grumble about his directive. “When you enter the Army, you are given terms of conditions of service, one of which forbids a soldier from going for studies in civil institutions. When you have such opportunities, you either go through the Army or you involve the Army. But doing it without any of these is illegal and that means they should have been punished. But the COAS has kindly not recommended punishment for them. So, they don’t have any reason to grumble,” Yusuf rationalised.
Asked what would be the likely implication of a discontented Army in the course of time, Yusuf insisted that no Army personnel was discontented with the army leadership as far as he knows.>

Can the Ibo posters on this thread see this issue a the very sensitive and tricky one that it is and counter it by URGENTLY posting raw FACTS & FIGURES relating to past promotions by past Chiefs of Army Staff (COAS) and other service chiefs of the Nigerian military? They MUST realise that in a situation like this, just posting only good and copious prose, without hard FACTS and FIGURES on the issue at hand is NOT the way to respond to a campaign like this; and that relying on that type of response only, is ,indeed, very dangerous?
