Thank God you hav said it all.from your comment,I can easily conclude that you havnt passed through a formative. School before.letme. Share my little story to. You.
When I was in the nursery school,at primary 4 and 5 I was almost the last person to school and my teacher then keeps complaining with their mouth but no improvment. To tell you the truth there are some sturborn students and pupils in school in that no matter what you said to them they can't change . Now at primary 6,I was moved to a different class entirely, the class teacher then was Mr. Non nonsense.this man doesn't tolerate nonsence at all,all the pupils in their class were the first to arrived school before 7:30am at times I don't eat in the morning .immediately it is 7:00am I will start rushing out of the house because I know the penalty of coming late and that training I got there for over 25 years ago has really help me now in that I can't go late for any function of occassion talkless of my university level.

So my brother if you like accept it,I agree with such teacher that purnishes a student for coming late because he or she will never depart from it.even the bible says train up a child in the way he should follow once he grow up he won't depart from it.
Which school is a formative school that I didn't pass through?

That you needed a bully to make you and your parents do the right didn't mean every other pupil in your class needed to be bullied to arrive early in school.

Lastly, I went to public primary school and secondary school. So, I experienced all form of corporal punishment anyone can think of. Now as a father, I need no lecturing on acceptable methods of discipline.

Education › Re: How Students Are Punished In Cameroon For Coming Late To School by DropShot: 11:39am On Nov 05, 2016
MrSly:
Tell a child to clean the toilet and his parent would list all the possible germ that has infected them. Tel them to work in school farm ad they will tell you that they paid school fees not to make their children farmers but to learn. Place them under any other corrective measure and they will recount how you marginalised their wards by punishing them when others are learning. As long as this 21st century civilization saga is concerned people don't want their children to be touched again. But we are Africans and shouldn't be deceived by the illusions of american movies.
Your argument holds no water. If the school can get away with this corporal punishment, it will surely be able to get away with making this do chores.
This is the worst of all the options available to the school. Why settle for it?

Do you condemn a man who beats his wife for any failure? If you do, what is different in this case?

I was horribly wowed by the number of support some people were giving to the teachers that perpetrated this dastardly act...Is it because people's human right has been thrown to the dogs in Nigeria that they do not know the difference between good and bad?...where people will deliberately inflict pain on others and goes scotch free... where uniformed person will slap someone and there will not be law suit awaiting for him @ home...

Anyways, I guess that's how they were being wired....They have never known or seen better....
Imagine people supporting bullying and proud of it!
Same people will hypocritically condemn a man beating his wife for not doing house chores.

If this is right what makes the husband beating his wife for something else wrong?

Hope you've noticed the number of teenage pregnancy have increased since the dawn of the 21st century?

This method here stand for what is supposed to be done. Making those kids clear grass or clean toilets etc won't do squat. Some will see it as an everyday affair and take it as normal. Then their coming to school late will never end.
And why has this bullying we see here which is also prevalent in many other schools, not stopped teenage pregnancy and other social vices?

Nobody is saying there shouldn't be discipline but there are better ways. It is okay to stipulate a penalty for coming late but it doesn't have to be this or flogging. What happens to cleaning a classroom or watering flowers when his mates are enjoying their break period? Or something of that sort? To use your choice of words, it should not be "anti-dignity" like this here clearly is. When Nigerians go on and on about the usefulness of corporal punishment and "African upbringing", I always ask them if we are turning out better adults than societies that have abolished corporal punishment. We are clearly not. It's not about kids standing up for adults to sit or kneeling down to greet - you are adopting a very parochial approach to the matter. It's about things that social imperatives, humanistic ideals and lasting values that contribute to nation building and human development. In any case, children still stand up for their elders in the rural areas, and if you choose to live in urban areas you have to accept some of the things that come with that.
I am appalled by the number of people here supporting this act of bullying. These guys will slap their children for anything.

We have a long way to go I'm Africa.

Mr 21st century, discipline is the watch word if children are to be the leaders of tomorrow. What should they do to them? Flog them? kneel them? subject them to frog jump? Either way champions of 21st century must complain. 21st century is about technology development.
21st century is not only about technological development. It's also about behaving in more civilized manner than in the past. It's also about embracing gentle ways to resolving issues than the aggressive and archaic methods of the past.

This method here qualifies for bullying.

Better method to deal with this is making them do some school chores such as clearing weeds, cleaning toilets, arranging books on bookshelves, etc.

Do you have children? Truthfully, how disciplined are they? What is reprehensible in this? The only way to way to discipline is t attach consequences to mistakes
If you all see nothing wrong in making children of ten years and below kneel in mud and crawl with their knees, I therefore advise you to do same with your kids when you eventually have them.

If you guys like, use big pestle to hit your children or throw them in oven just to make them disciplined. Na una sabi.

Oga, just park for one side!

Why are the agents of this present administration too hungry for media presence? Why?
Why are they conditioning Nigerians? Why are they systematically giving Nigerians a mindset? Why are they doing so, so desperately?
Why can't they do their meticulous investigations, get evidence, arrest, charge to court, get convictions and then come to the media and give details? Why always trying to use the media against people, rubbish their image, bring down their profile and in the end no convictions?

I use to think the the DSS is a secret police, but with how lousy they are these days, the Nigerian police is even more secret in the way it conducts itself; even the Nigerian police isn't this media-presence hungry.
