TonyeBarcanista:It works that way brother, I can debate with you on this. |
Can someone please fully explain what 'akudaya' means? |
Halleydavid:I don't understand you. Yes, it was necessary. |
It's very simple. The marriage can be declared void by the court on the grounds that the wife is pregnant by a person other the husband. It is provided for under our Nigerian Law. This is different from a divorce. Thus, none of the parties will be regarded as having been married under law. I suggest she opens up to her husband immediately so that they can end it. |
RisMas:If the party repositions itself, it can improve the lot of Nigerians. I strongly believe certain individuals within the party gave their best and will do better if given such opportunity. I don't subscribe to throwing away the baby with the bath water. I am also in support of the emergence of a new opposition party. It will spice up our democracy. |
dridowu:Why you dey enjoy am? |
bejeiodus:Nice comment, a worthy addition to the write up. |
careercrew1:Thanks |
onatisi:Hmmmmm. You are actually not very far from the truth. Nice contribution. |
Truths247:Exactly. You've made a very valid point. |
Zico5:Food for thought. The questions you raised calls for serious consideration and critical thinking. |
rusher14:Nice contribution. Much appreciated. |
Major Steps the Peoples Democratic Party Must Take to Become a Viable Opposition and Possibly Wrest Power from the All Progressives Congress in 2019: It saddens me greatly to see the Peoples Democratic Party so badly enmeshed in leadership crisis. This is because it is indeed very bad for our democracy and will go a long way in hurting our developing democracy. One of the hallmarks of democracy as a system of government is the existence of a viable and formidable opposition party which will constantly put the ruling party on their toes, give them sleepless nights and make them critically consider any action they take before taking such actions. Sadly, since the loss of the last presidential elections to the now ruling All Progressives Congress, the Peoples Democratic Party has become enmeshed in crisis that has affected it's ability to live up to expectations as an opposition party thereby disappointing the masses and leaving Nigerians at the mercy of the ruling All Progressives Congress. The PDP must endeavor to quickly put its house in order so as to enable it put certain structures in place that will ensure it acts as a viable opposition to the ruling APC and possibly wrest power from it come 2019. Below are some suggestions I have outlined. Feel free to criticise them and add more. 1. Solve the persistent leadership crisis: the party cannot move forward at all if it keeps on having constant leadership crisis. All stakeholders must come together to find a lasting solution to the persistent leadership crisis as the persistence of such crisis only goes to show that there are fundamental errors or shortcomings with the present system with the attendant consequence of weakening the party. 2. All Stakeholders must put their personal interests aside and work for the collective good of the party. The reason why leadership and other forms of crisis will keep coming up is because the party members are now so used to allowing their personal interest override the overall interest of the party and the generality of its members. 3. The party must at this point make sure internal party democracy is fully entrenched as it is clear that the party has been considerably weakened due to obvious lack of internal democracy. Getting a ticket to contest any elective position in Nigeria under the PDP is no longer a function of the ideal procedures and the tenets of internal democracy but a function of who you know at the National level. This shouldn't continue, it must stop. Allow the delegates of the party to emerge in the manner prescribed by the Party’s Constitution and let the delegates select party flag bearers on the basis of what such flag bearers have demonstrated in terms of capacity to do the job and win the seat and not teleguiding the emergence of delegates as well as unjustly manipulating them to favour a certain candidate even when such candidate doesn't have what it takes. 4. The party must embark on a sincere reconciliation drive to reconcile with aggrieved members who left the party for one reason or the other and bring them back into the fold. This will go a long way in repositioning the party. 5. Inaugurate a very competent team which will be headed by the National Publicity Secretary to help rebrand the image of the party and constantly issue statements on the activities of the ruling APC so as to check their excesses. In fact, to put it simply, the party needs it's own 'Lai Mohammed'. 6. The party must allow the youths more participation in its affairs albeit under the guidance of the party elders. I believe we the younger generation are ready to take the baton from the older generation. This group of old politicians can constitute themselves into a group to be known as the Council of Elders which will provide the necessary advice and contacts while the youths take the bull by the horn. The younger generation is brimming with fresh ideas, enthusiasm and so much passion but the older ones have refused to give way. There are certain men who shouldn't have any business engaging in active politics again. I wont mention names. I think I will stop here for now. Nigerians need PDP, Nigerians need a viable opposition and we are seriously yearning for one. Thank You. Ugah Michael Chukwuemeka (Dr. Possibilities)

QuotaSystem:In as much as I agree with you, we must also bear in mind that it takes qualified medical personnel to run such facilities. And then again we must begin to look critically at the maintenance culture of Nigerians. Many of such facilities built years back are now eyesores. We must begin to imbibe strong maintenance cultures so that public facilities can last longer and remain in excellent conditions. |
Personally I think the rivalry only existed in the minds of Nigerians because I cannot think of any incident that laid credence to the existence of any rivalry. I may be wrong though, I stand to be corrected. They even acted the movie 'Ije' together, or had the rivalry ended before then? |
bluecircle470:You dey talk? I registered since 2013. No mind those people. Maybe when you become the Governor of your State, they'll bring it to you. Till then, I guess we have to be patient. |
omisakint:Thanks Boss. I am not allowing my girlfriend to be the deciding factor. Her insistence on my not joining wouldn't have changed my decision. It would have only hurt to let her go but I would still have moved on. The deciding factor here is that I can't imagine going to spend another 18 months in Police Academy after all the years I've spent in school. Besides, withdrawing at this time wouldn't in any way hurt me financially in future. Like I said, I am enjoying a thriving legal practice which is sustaining me very well and has the potential for more financial success. |
Tstone1:Thank you so much brother for your very matured contribution. Please let's hook up on BBM. My pin is 7ADA85F9. I will really appreciate. |
Good morning my nairaland friends. I just made a startling discovery about the Nigeria Police enlistment application. I am a qualified lawyer but I applied for general duties since I couldn't find my profession under specialist. During application, the thought came to me to click 'others' since I couldn't find 'lawyer' as one of the options, but I brushed the thought aside on the grounds that if lawyers were meant to apply under specialist there would have been a provision among the options for lawyers. I also noticed during the screening on the day I was screened that I was the only lawyer around. I checked the list of those screened that day and I didn't see anyone with an LLB and BL which are the requisite qualifications for lawyers. All I could see were Bsc, HND, etc. I must say at this point I am exasperated having discovered that those who applied under general duties will spend 18 months in the Academy while specialists will spend just 6 months. I can't imagine another 18 months in police academy having spent 7 years qualifying as a lawyer plus the 1 year NYSC. Besides, I'm already billed to get married early next year after my heartthrob finishes her NYSC. Since I already have a thriving practice in one of the top law firms in Nigeria, it seems I will just abandon this quest for enlistment into the Nigeria Police. The only reason I applied is because from childhood and undergraduate days, I always had a strong passion for joining the Police and pursuing a fulfilling career therein. Even my family thinks I am crazy to have applied and my fiancee almost ended our relationship when I told her I applied and was shortlisted. It was only God's intervention through my elder sister that got her to change her mind. My elder sister also told her I've not been enlisted yet. I am sure she will be praying earnestly for me not to be enlisted. Please guys, is there anything I can do to convert my application to application for specialist enlistment? Because if I can't, I go just kukuma abandon the whole idea. I can't go and spend another 18 months in the Academy, doing what? Thanks guys. Pardon my long epistle, I'm sure only serious minded people will read it. |

Hello friends! This platform is such a wonderful platform for getting very useful information and I appreciate every member of this forum. I had to leave Lagos about 8 Weeks ago (about 2 Months now) as a result of relocation to the Niger Delta region where I got a new employment. Since I wasn't familiar with the particular city I relocated to (Warri to be precise), I decided to leave my car behind in Lagos. I just came in to Lagos today and for those 8 Weeks, the car was not used and my brother-in-law with whom I left the car forgot to remove the battery. However, when I started the car, it started immediately without any sign that it had not been used for 8 whole Weeks. All my brother-in-law's cars are automatic as he doesn't know how to drive manual cars and mine is manual so he never used it during the period. The sound is still very much okay. I intend driving down back to Warri with it during the week but I need to confirm if there are any checks I need to do to be on a safe side. I'll appreciate your always helpful comments. Many thanks. Best regards. |
The decision as to which service provider provides the best internet data service cannot be based on any general yardstick but a number of factors prominent among which are location and device. Airtel works perfectly in my Samsung android phone, Modem and even when tethering via USB to my laptop, but its a different story altogether with blackberry. The last time I subscribed for airtel blackberry service, it was a nightmare. I had to run back to etisalat blackberry. Always seek for advice from those in the same area where you reside per time about which service provider provides the best internet service in that location. |
I used to enjoy Glo Internet Date Service when I was based in Ota, Ogun State. It was superb, super fast and very reliable. However, when I relocated to Ibadan, Oyo State, the story changed. In fact, that particular month I moved, I lost over 2.5GB Data because there was no network to use it. It was terrible. At times, you see the full signal but it refuses connect. I had to advise myself and switch to Airtel which offers excellent internet data service. I've been using airtel internet data service (via Airtel Broadband and recently, USB tethering) since September 2012 and it has been extremely reliable in all locations I've been to (Yola, Asaba, Umuahia, Ibadan, Ota, Lagos, Abeokuta, Zaria, Makurdi etc). The only reason I switched to Glo was that they offered cheaper rates. I however discovered just as the OP said that the inconvenience far outweighs the low price. After about a year of not utilising my Glo SIM for internet data subscription, I decided to try it again and I'm regretting it seriously. I'm currently in Yaba, Lagos State and the Glo isn't responding at all. Its so bad even here in Yaba. Even to open homepage of google na wahala. |
The Electoral Act 2010 clearly provides that in the case of nomination to the position of Governorship, the primaries must be held in the State Capital of the State in question. |
Number 3 is very true O! I'm the last child and I've dated mostly firsts. My current girlfriend is also the first child and we get along very well. |
1. Influence of Friends: some friends may influence and cause him to cheat by convincing him to try out something new. These can be done by introducing him to other women. 2. Desperate Women: Desperate women are everywhere, and they can use any means to try and get a man. The fact that he is married even makes him more attractive. Most of such desperate women believe a married man is in a better position to take care of their needs and at the same time allow them more freedom to do other "runs". 3. When a wife pays too much attention to children and other chores to the detriment of her intimacy with her husband, it can force a man to feel neglected and therefore look for other relationships outside his marriage. Every man wants the attention of his woman and there can't be vacuum. Where a vacuum exists, he must look for someone outside to fill it. 4. Easy access to other women especially at the office, neighbourhood, etc especially where number 3 above is applicable can cause a man to cheat. 5. Some men just go out for the sake of adventure or to try out something new. The urge to feel the new excitement most times can come in a very strong way. Afterall eveyone yearns for "CHANGE" once in while. 6. When a woman stops taking care of herself, it can drive a man away from the home. The same "sexy" wife that was married suddenly starts keeping her hair anyhow, goes out of shape, ties old wrappers up and down the house and even in the neighbourhood, no longer takes care of her appearance or dress well when going out with her man. 7. A quarrelsome wife. This can be a major factor. No man wants a wife who nags at every little issue endlessly. 8. Some men can't keep their eye one place at all. Always looking up and down and checking out new babes. This can lead to wanting to try out something new. 9. Married life can become boring and monotonous. To cure this, it is advised that couples find ways to spice up their marriage and do something new regularly. This will keep the fire burning. Boredom can kill a marriage fast. 10. When a man begins to feel that his wife no longer meets his emotional needs, he may be prompted to go out of the house for "cure". Rather than allow all the above affect your marriage, find ways to work it out and have a fulfilling marriage. Most importantly, place your marriage in God's hand and live according to God's standards as contained in the Bible. Our marriages will not fail!!! Best of luck friends. |
