ProgrammingUniben Student Develops Antivirus Software For Computers by drsteroid(op): 12:18pm On Jan 02, 2015
Balogun Oghenerobo Philip a.k.a RoboPhil is a Final Year Computer Science Student of the
University Of Benin. He is a pro programmer who loves to toy around with different platforms like java, android, web and mobile development. The virus situation in computers at school has not been funny, it spreads so easily and takes just one flash to infect over 50 students personal computers. The students thought they were on top of the situation until RoboPhil came and save the day with an antivirus called the ULTIMATE VIRUS STOPPER.

Over the last couple of months, RoboPhil has been fixing infected systems ranging from June12, Faculties, Shopping Complexes and Computer Centres all over campus. Due to his numerous adventures he has come to understand how a virus works and operates.

ULTIMATE VIRUS STOPPER is an antivirus which on installation protects the operating system. It does not require a user to scan the system as it does that for you and it also scans the system registries, temporary files which are hiding locations for virus plus it also monitors all running processes on the system. The scan button(Flash and Removable disk only) can recover hidden files and delete viruses that resides in the drive. It also has a log which shows all activities performed by the antivirus.

Also based on its unique design as confirmed by users at june12 and other locations, you can insert flash drives into your pc having this antivirus without fear of having a virus from the flash drive  entering into your system. He also improvised a medium to fix the corrupt flash drive through the scan button.

Best Of All, the antivirus is free and it comes in 32 and 64 bits versions. The Current stable version is version 2.0 and requires no update. The UVS works along side other antivirus installed on your system without having interference between other parties.

Download UVS Below.

PoliticsHow To Check Your Name On INEC Voter’s Register, Pick-up Center Using Phone by drsteroid(op):
With your mobile phone, you can now confirm if your name is on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register.
The 2015 general election is close and if you are really serious about carrying out your civic right of voting, you should go and get your Permanent Voter Card (PVC).
There have been cases of people who have presented themselves for PVCs at INEC Nigeria registration/pick-up centres but did not see their names on the voters register. You don’t have to go through such stressful and time-wasting ordeal. You can easily check if your name is on the register before setting out to go and pick up your PVC.

How to check if your name is on INEC Voters Register

The way to check if you are on the Register of Voters is simply to send an SMS to dedicated lines with the following information:

State of registration,
Surname,
Last five or six digits of the VIN (i.e., Voter Identification Number) on Temporary Voter Card
As an example: Lagos, Ogundimu, 06782: please ensure the coma in-between) and send to 08171646879.

Alternatively, you can also send the short message with INEC (e.g.: INEC, Lagos, Salama, 06782) and send to 20120.

I sent it without the commas though, and I still got the response from the system. The instant response gave me my full profile on the Register and the polling unit number where I registered.

So where can I still pick up my PVC?

Yes! If a person is on the Register and has not been able to obtain his / her PVC, he / she should go to the relevant local government office of INEC where distribution of the cards will continue daily till the end of January 2015.

Share this message with your friends on Social Media to make more people know about this. We all have the right to vote. Thank you!

PoliticsBillions Of Naira Better For Campaign and Re-election Than Provision Of Security by drsteroid(op): 8:50am On Dec 26, 2014
Compliment of the season 2 my fellow nairalanders. I believe this present Govt is really not sincere concerning the fight against insurgency in the country and security at large.the govt has been paying lips service and attention to the fight against insurgency. There has been calls from different people and countries to the govt of this country to step up her fight against insurgency..but the reverse has always been the case, all we have been hearing is deployment of extra special forces to the more tensed area with little motivation and inadequate and crude fighting equipment.Soldiers are being killed on a daily basis while the insurgency continues to spread round the whole north eastern states.the 3 main states that use to be known has highly volatile are becoming more volatile and fringe states like gombe, bauchi, nassarawa are now being welcomed to the list. No thanks to this govt I don't care attitude..All we have been hearing whenever there is any bomb blast or abduction of school children is that ' terrorism is everywhere and not peculiar to Nigeria alone' which is being accompanied by crocodile tears.Chibok school girls abducted over 8months ago,are now becoming matured women in the bushes of sambisa forest and its environs, while there parents have given up on seeing their childeren again.there is an adage in yoruba that says ' omo eni ku san ju omo eni sonu lo' meaning- a child who is dead is better than a child that is lost and can't be traced. This Govt has nothing to do abot all these...various artists both local and foreign have really made a lot hits from the chibok girls abduction, just like my favourite from Alicia keys - we are here. The govt said it needed the national assembly to allow the borrowing of billions of naira from foreign banks to enable it re-equip the military and fight the insurgency to a stand still, but were able to get 12billion naira in just a day fund raising for election campaign.this has clearly shown that all the govt is really after is their own personal gain and interest and not interested in the security of the nation..they were able to raise billions of naira for campaign and re- election but have been unable to raise funds to re-equip the military to provide one of the main function of Govt which is provision of security..Its high time we stood up and know that our Govt don't really care about us..let's join hands together and preach the truth and forget our religious and ethnic differences.Nigeria belongs to us all...God bless Nigeria and God bless us all. Once again, compliment of the season to u all.

the baby might have developed strabismus as a result of the trauma. Since he is stil very young, this is the ideal time to seek solution with appropriate treatment..strabismic eye can be correcte through vision training (orthoptics), surgery or spectacle correction (glasses). Since the doctor has alredy recommended glasses,I think u should allow him go 4 that..his vision and his oculo-motor functioning is paramount to any personal believe..thanx

Health10 Harmful Effects Of Cosmetics by drsteroid(op): 10:39pm On Dec 15, 2014
Cosmetics , they have become the need of society. People spend monthly on these and the amount of variety is so high that cosmetics are available for different seasons and climates as well. The makers claim to have their own RnD and make one of the finest products for us. we all know that it is very difficult these days for someone to just make a product beneficial for its customers, he ought to make a huge profit out of it. Quality is compromised most of the times and generally a common man is unable to raise the voice or submit complain on which action would be taken. Many times it happens that the ingredients mentioned are not true and that affects us. so there is an ugly side to these beauty products as well. I don't mean to say that they don't work , they do work but have harmful effects also along with. There are many harmful effects of using cosmetics , here are the top ten of them.

10. Unwanted Dependency on Cosmetics-  The common notion among people is that they cannot look beautiful or handsome if they missed out on a cosmetic or just ran out of it. This dependency can lead to many troubles and is nothing less than an addiction for them, from my personal experience I would like to add that here are people who can skip occasion or get together if their cosmetics are not with them or if they can't do make up. well with God grace everyone has been given with a good face. You can look even look better without them

9. Headaches-   Headache is a very common issue after putting up make up for long periods of time , Generally ladies feel dizziness , tired and nausea after prolonged exposures to high makeup. even men must have felt that during the long wait for performance in annual function with full make up , even if the performance was not so tiring but you would feel sleepy and dizzy, its the effect of makeup . A lot of care is therefore taken while removing of makeup. Absolutely nothing should be left behind . It has been found that cosmetics contain certain ingredients which on exposure to humans directly in large amount may lead to a state of unconsciousness. So wear makeup, but make sure its not just too long and if you have to spend a large amount of time then prefer light makeup to avoid headaches.

8. Hair problems-  Funky hairstyles are very popular and eye catching. Today's youth and children find it very cool and thus make a move for them. Use of shampoos, conditioners, hair colors, gels and serums may actually harm your tresses pretty badly. They look great when used and one may receive many compliments for the style or even help you get a girl but these cosmetics keep on affecting the hair quality and quantity. There can be thinning of hair, redness in scalp, hair fall or even excessive dandruff. The use of hair sprays is even more dangerous with sources suggesting that long term usage may result in scalp skin damage and permanent discoloration of hair color.

7. Dangers to Reproductive Organs-   Use of bubble baths or certain oils may affect your reproductive organs if in direct contact. They can even lead to infertility. It has been found that any cosmetic containing asbestos like talcum powder when in direct contact with organs can even affect the menstrual cycle leading to their imbalances. Shower gels and shower creams during bath may also prove to be harmful . We will definitely feel that they did the cleaning but once after getting inside they may affect severely. There can be vaginal infections or even danger or prostate and ovarian cancer if the cosmetics are flawed and low on quality.

6. Ageing-  Yes, one may start looking older than he/she actually is. all the makeup and moisturizers actually do some damage to your skin and with prolonged use wrinkles and other signs of ageing may be visible. The cosmetic makers are so smart that they then release anti-ageing creams and lotions. These cosmetics then fight the signs of ageing. They are making money and it is us who have to suffer . Be careful while choosing your products and make sure if their reviews are correct and genuine because not all products in market may be harmful.

5. Cancer and Other Chronic Diseases-  With the benefits, cosmetics also bring danger of diseases like cancer and many other chronic ones. Lipstick contains aluminium which may cause long term anemia and even glucose intolerance. Many products contain chemicals like zinc oxide , Barium sulphate etc. are very harmful for body and may result in many organ failures like that of kidney and liver. Further if swallowed even by mistake , generally the lip cares , lip balms , and lipsticks going with food can lead to many respiratory diseases also. It has also been reported that cosmetics like body moisturizers can cause trouble to endocrine system as and disturb the thyroid content of body

4. Damage to Nails -  Nail paints , Nail polish, manicures all very seem very hygienic but are naturally damaging to nails if done very regularly or frequently . The quality of nails decreases and they become fragile . Keeping long nails becomes a big issue after that , extra care has to be taken . The nails become  thin and lose their natural color starting to look starting to look pale.
3.  Harmful for Eyes-  Eye shadow , mascara, kajal, and other forms of eye makeup can harm the eyes of user very badly. Girls who wear lenses may harm their eyes even more because the chemicals present affects the lens material and can result in something very damaging like thinning of eyelashes and eye infections. Mascara can cause bacteria as it contains pseudomonas aeruginosa which is a very harmful therapy bacteria. Resistance to heat and cold this bacteria is very difficult to remove from mascara and often pollutes it despite many precautionary measures.

2. Allergies-   There are different types of allergies possible with excessive use of cosmetics and at times their side effects even if the usage is limited. The allergies can be of skin , breathing , eating , hair etc. skin allergies may be allergy to certain kind of lotions or creams . Breathing allergies are damage to nose and nasal passage due to intake of cosmetics by mistake or even deliberate. Eating difficulties as it may result in glucose intolerance as mentioned earlier as well. Hair allergies are like allergy to usage of shampoos or conditioners or intolerance of scalp to certain oil, so with the benefits of cosmetics comes a parcel of never ending list of allergies you are at risk of. Be careful while choosing your products.

1. Skin Disease and Reactions - Skin diseases and reactions have been a common problem with use of fairness creams, sunscreens and sunblocks. There may be a permanent discoloration of skin or severe damage to skin. Believe me a damage to skin especially on face may be very torturing. every now and then a person from the crowd may pop up and ask what happened or would have loads of advice to give you because his relative had the same problem. There can be much severe issues with the skin like skin cancer, presently skin cancer is not that easily treatable at mostly fatal.

as a result of the fall, your brother is now having strabismus. I wil advice you to see an eye specialist so that detailed and comprehensive assessment must be carried out on the eyes and the extraocular muscles,so as to know the best treatment, and if muscle resectioning surgery can be recommended.this is the right time to work on the eyes cos the baby is stil young,if allowed to drag on, this wil lead to poor prognosis.I wil advice u take this up immediately.orthoptic training exercisemay be required also.I wil advice you to stick with the advice of the doctor.using glasses is not really a problem as long as the purpose of the glasses is accomplished.tanx

as a result of injury sustained 4rm the fall, the baby developed strabismus wch is as a result of the trauma.the eye muscles responsible for moving the eyes known as extraocular muscle were affected.since the baby is still young a detailed extraocular muscle examination should be carried out to know if muscle resectioning surgery will be required to make the muscles ok again,or if an orthoptic exercise wil be the preferred choice.I don't tink u should be bothered about the baby wearing glasses,if that's what the baby needs to make her eyes ok,jus let the baby get it,cos this is the right time to take care of the eyes cos when the baby grows up with it,the prognosis becomes poorer. Tanx

PoliticsNigeria Ranked 39th Most Corrupt Country In The World-is This Really True? by drsteroid(op): 8:18am On Dec 04, 2014
The global corruption watchdog, Transparency International, has ranked Nigeria as the 39th most corrupt nation in the world.

According to the Corruption Perception Index 2014 released on Wednesday, Nigeria scored 27 out of a maximum 100 marks to clinch the 136th position out of the 175 countries surveyed for the report.

Nigeria appeared to have improved by eight points against its 2013 rating of 144th of 175 countries last year.

It will be recalled that the Transparency International Corruption Perception Index ranked Nigeria 35th most corrupt nation in the world in 2012.

A statement issued by the Transparency International noted that more than two thirds of the 175 countries in the 2014 Corruption Perceptions Index scored below 50, on a scale from 0 (perceived to be highly corrupt) to 100 (perceived to be very clean).

Denmark is the least corrupt nation in the world, ranking first out of the 175 countries surveyed while North Korea and Somalia are the most corrupt nations of the world.

The Transparency International said while top performer, Denmark, had strong rule of law, support for civil society and clear rules governing the behaviour of those in public positions, it also set an example by announcing plans to create a public register, such as beneficial ownership information for all companies incorporated in Denmark.

This measure, according to the corruption watchdog, will make it harder for the corrupt to hide behind companies registered in another person’s name.

Botswana comes top as the least corrupt nation in Africa, ranking 31st least corrupt globally while South Africa is ranked 67th.

Transparency International Chairman, José Ugaz, in a statement on the TI website, said countries at the bottom needed to adopt radical anti-corruption measures in favour of their people.

“The 2014 Corruption Perceptions Index shows that economic growth is undermined and efforts to stop corruption fade when leaders and high level officials abuse power to appropriate public funds for personal gain,” Ugaz said.

According to Ugaz, countries at the top of the index should make sure they do not export corrupt practices to underdeveloped countries.

“The biggest falls were in Turkey (-5), Angola, China, Malawi and Rwanda (all -4). The biggest improvers were Côte d´Ivoire, Egypt, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (+5) and Afghanistan, Jordan, Mali and Swaziland (+4),” the statement said.

The anti-corruption group said it was currently running a campaign to unmask the corrupt, urging the European Union, the United States and G20 countries to follow Denmark’s lead and create public registers that would make clear “who really controls, or is the beneficial owner, of every company.”
