When it comes to transmission fluid. Please check the owners manual to known the specific fluid needed for your car....... The chart below will guide you when best to replace the fluid....

A nairaland client of mine requested for fluid on behalf of a friend of his that bought a tokunbo 2013 ML 350.
His mechanic for reasons known to him used unknown fluid on a car that cost at least 15m. He was advised to park his car and wait till the genuine fluid arrives. He will now have to spend more money now to correct the mistake.

So the nairaland client contacted me and I was able to go to a Benz dealership to order them for our October 26th loading.

When using genuine fluid it will cost you money now. But in the long run u will save money,time and avoid getting frustrated

Also keep in mind whoever is changing the transmission fluid make sure you totally drain the old fluid before adding fresh fluids. And the work environment must clean to avoid
contamination .

Failure to do follow this simple and logical rules will result in premium tears..... failure to use genuine fluid on your transmission will lead to premium tears.

Some cars transmission will not tolerate abuse or adulterated fluid. Avoid been best friends with your mechanic and follow simple rules.

Bros this your write up make me want to throw up. I honestly don’t like when one review put another day. We keep going in cycle from one oil is the best today and tomorrow we come up with another. We are living in a zombie world, our mindset is really the problem, if you understand what I mean. Needlessly throwing insults at your people and how they can’t maintain can. Africa problems go beyond cars, from medication to drinks. While developed countries are dying of poisonous foods that are not good for their body, we have our own problems too.

Saying mechanics are the ones enjoying is an illusion. Maybe you should take a walk around most workshop and see the new mats they bought. Economy be beating everyone. If things are not done or change, people will park their cars. Cost of fake parts are killing around. How much more original ones. They just add 7k to what it used to get 50L and the price on the app is still the same or worst. Much to say, but menh I need to put my tots on another matter now.

Yes there is no need for you to throw up Oga. Maintenance is one of the major issue in African not only in Nigeria..

I also mention how during the car parts imports days. That the amount of car engines that are imported into the country.. Why so many auto engine for the giant of Africa.. I stated that even if you import containers dull of engine only you go sell am before the container arrives.. So you didn't read about that or are you only into selective reading ?


The amount of orders I get for car parts sometimes are easily preventive . A customer request for transmission fluid for his Rx350.

The customer stated that the wrong fluid was put in the transmission and the car his not running smooth . So.now he wants to get the original ATF WS . The story long .......

Even in the United States mechanics dey use person chop money. But the difference is that they no go over do am like naija. And I barely go to the mechanic because I do Preventive maintenance on the car.......

I also use to import car parts from Japan in the early 2005 . If you see the amount of car engines that are been imported into Nigeria. You than ask yourself what is going on .. you can load 40ft container just with engine alone.. before the container reaches Lagos at least 50% of those engines are already sold. It shows that car owners still can't maintain their engine..

In saner country , were cost of labor is very expensive .. we take care of our engines , it might cost us more . But in the long run we save More. And people that can't afford to maintain a car shouldn't be driving at all. You are throwing money down the drain.

You see these T pain economy that we are in now .. Ordinary naija Mobil 1 that was going for 25k to now 71k . It will reach 100k soon and those so cheap oil you mention will now become out of reach for the common man .. And na Palm oil people go dey use . And maybe I might bring in super tech lol ..


Whatever goes up in Nigeria rarely comes down. Na to fold my arms dey watch. That is when I go flood the market with Super tech .

By the time all engines are breaking down up and down. Car owners will either buy better oil or drop the cars enter bike . Dey play. Make I bring super tech now ba dey play. Don't worry na go call me first day u need Super tech. Time never reach yet

I agree synthetic is d best, but if the engine is shorting oil like my own car, I can't afford to use mobil fully synthetic. Cos I will have to buy another gallon of 75k to keep for topping

If your car is shorten oil you can use 10w40 if you can afford it . or better yet find the coz of it shorten. During my uber days I found out that my civic was shorten due to engine oil seal . we place it and oil shorten stop.........

Now with regards to super tech oil I will think about bringing them in . but am more focus on Mobil 1 for now . My currant price for Mobil 1 now is 64k compare to the Nigeria Mobil 1 of 71k and which is not even up to top quality as the USA brand....

So imagine how much Super Tech will cost or better yet I can look into other brands that are the same price as super tech... But I don't think I have the time and energy to market it. Because at the end of the day the naija people go buy wetin they wan buy...

20w50 is between 20-25k for 5litres. Depending on brand. This is a no no except the engine is in its last days already.

Imported Mobil 5w30 would have been the most appropriate but it is too expensive for the business. Coupled with the fact u have to use it along side original filters of about 10k each. If it's for private use, ur engine is in tiptop shape and u have the money, then u should definitely go for this, cos u can use it a whole year. Asin u may not need to service your car again till d next year if u are targeting 15,000miles.

However, 5w30 Semi synthetic is between 30-35k depending on brand and this is what I recommend for ehailing/commercial use.
Reason I recommended this is that it's still the recommended blend for the car, price is best for it's use and benefits, u don't risk using it for too long cos of traffic factored and vehicle requiring change at 5000miles. 5000miles is the maintenance required mark for many cars manufactured between 2000-2010 like the corolla, Camry, Mazda etc.
Also many of our cars are shorting oil before the next service. U don't want to put an expensive oil in the car and it dries up before u fully utilize it to the required 15000miles.

I did my findings whether corolla or camry and mostly all brands of cars... The owners manual states if you are using mineral oil change oil every 5k miles and if using full synthetic oil change every 10k miles...
The owners manuals does not state that mineral oil is the require mark for cars... It gives you options if using mineral change every 5k and if using full synthetic change every 10k miles. And these options still goes on for the currant modern cars.......

Full synthetic is still the best option, yes it cost more but you get better engine protection and no sludge. Unlike mineral oil that you can easily got sludge and much cheaper.. Some high end cars like Roll Royce, Lamborghini, Audi, Ferrari etc. Will automatically states Fully synthetic and brand of oil ..

And with the shorten oil. As cars get older the oil seal tends to get weak. And which may cause oil leak . but in that case 10w40 will be the appreciate engine oil. Unfortunately you don't see it in the market and people tend to use 20w50 some even use sae40 . which is very crazy ...........

For uber drivers I still believe full synthetic is the best way to go . That is if you can find a cheaper brand that still gives you same quality as the name brand.....

For example I use to import super tech (pic1.) It is the same quality as Mobil 1 . I read the review on YouTube and it was compare to other name brand and it did well very well .. But it is half the cost, other brands were like $ 23 to 27 and super tech was like $18.00


So if you look hard enough you go find good quality at a reasonable price.. All that changing oil every 5k miles na waste of time and energy for me....

The Nigeria oil that you buying for 30k to 35k the price will just continue to go up and up in cost..

Sometimes what you looking that will save you money and time is right in front of you. Na too look very well to see am

A lot of people don't even know the dash reads mileage in miles which is 1.6X bigger than km.
So when u are targeting 4000 on the dash it's actual 4000miles which is 6,400km

Nothing beats using recommended oil. Synthetic oil will protect the engine far better than mineral oil especially when used for harsh and extreme conditions like ehailing in Lagos.

What is the cost of 20w50 ? Help me find out..

What am thinking is that for you uber drivers. Does it make sense to use full synthetic and change oil every 7k to 10k miles vs using mineral and change every 3k miles and plus factor the labour cost to change oil....

Now I know for fact the cost of Mobil 1 Nigeria pic (1)below is currently 71500k . And am sure the cost of mineral has also gone up......

And my imported Mobil 1 is cheaper than the Nigeria version.. Let's how the break will be

Na to change fuel pump be dat... If you are always refilling your tank when the fuel lights comes on. You are damaging your fuel pump.......


When fuel gets to the empty gauge . Your fuel pump has no fuel to pump up except for air and dirty particle in the tank.. It is now putting more pressure on the fuel pump.........

Start with a known good brand of 20w50 with API rating of SN.
At the next oil change, upgrade to 10W40 with API rating of SN

If there are no adverse changes (blue smoke, sorting oil etc), then you may upgrade to any known good brand of 5w30 oil with an API rating of SN.
It must not be synthetic oil. Your engine does just fine on mineral oil.

With this T pain economy right now . Full synthetic oil might be the best way to go . with mineral you have to change every 3k miles and also factor in the cost of labour it will cost to change the oil......


If you can find a good full synthetic oil at a reasonable price . You can change your oil double the mineral oil. So roughly you can do 7k to 10k miles instead of the 3k miles of mineral oil.


Since am in the engine oil .. I can tell you that a Mobil 1 Nigeria pic (1) goes for 71500k in Lagos and 75k outside Lagos . now compare it with cost of mineral oil... You than compare my price pic (2) of 64500k ......

As the economy is biting hard on everyone we have to look for ways to save money.. If you look hard enough you can get things a little cheaper....

My last trip to Lagos few months ago. I was busy eating out spending 10k per day on food . until somebody recommended cravings and more restaurant .. I was now getting more food and spending around 6k on food ..

My point is people need to sit down and look for ways to save money. If you look hard enough you go find ways to save without compromising quality

Check the engine oil cover... Example below and for your car is 5w30.....

More thank likely the previous owner was not using the recommended oil. Using the recommended oil now might be waste of money and time....

From experience most Nigerian car owners don't like using the recommended oil either from pure ignorance or they can't afford it..

I will be going to a Benz dealership for my customer next week to purchase the fluid and ship out Oct 26. My customer has parked his Benz quietly until the fluid arrives. I will advice you do the same....

These transmission fluid cost and to get the original will be very hard.. Fake oil oil and transmission fluid plenty more than ever now boss. Avoid premium tears.

Will be loading on October 26th. And how many liters do you need ? Also you will need to pay half payment before anything....


And also they are other alternatives that are compatible. But my personal opinion is to follow owners manual
