GOD doesn't command Michael547 to tithe. I would advise Michael547 to seek a personal relationship of GOD rather than literally reading the Bible. Does GOD command you to not use electronics?

You are either not a Christian or you have not read GOD's word fully. The reference to milk or meat would be recognised by a Christian.

You guys are missing the point about this whole tithing of a thing; and to some extend, I don't blame you guys. Crooked preachers are the ones causing much of this confusion.

From the way I understand it, the old testament commandments on tithing are neither practical nor mandatory for we non-jewish christians. BUT a christian can voluntarily decide to give 10% of his or her income to God as a way of acknowledging God and appreciating him as the one who gave you the money, and also as a way of thanking God for his blessings in every other aspects of his life. I tell you there is undeniable blessing in doing this.

Don't pay tithe to force God to bless you or do anything for you because it doesn't work that way. Tithing should only be one of the ways of showing appreciation to God for all that he has already done for you and for being your ultimate provider.

As for those of you who like to think God does not need our money, don't forget that if you attend a church where God is worshipped in truth and in spirit that money will be put to good use for the furtherance of his kingdom on earth.

My advice - if you have a personal relationship with GOD, then you should know the answer on whether to pay tithe or not.

I agree with you that tithing is personal. But the problem is that the pastors are making it seem compulsory and guilt trip those who dare not to pay.

One can only feel guilty if one allows oneself to feel guilty. Is your conscience agreeing with the pastor?

You cannot reap without sowing. That is the rule by which people become rich. That is the way of this universe. You don't have to be a Christian to be wealthy. Read Ecclesiastes to understand Solomon's thoughts on wealth. Who said both gentlemen didn't tithe?

NB Paying tithe is not about wealth.

If you want to do that, then you have to make the government to have a monopoly on violence within Nigeria's borders. Insecurity is a catalyst to the current problems in Nigeria.

I'll pray for you and advise you search your inner heart and ask God to speak to you the way you'll understand. Once you give your life to Christ, worldly things won't matter to you and you'll have no reason to defend tithing any more rather you'll strive to live the life that Christ lived.

Let's agree that what you're saying is true... but then, we will also agree that not paying tithe won't lead anyone to hell ( quoting Adeboye), now, why can't pastors leave tithing and preach salvation?

Why do we hear so much about tithe than we hear about salvation? They even go as far as creating fear in people just as the topic of this thread confirms.

The way to heaven is through the salvation brought about by GOD and Jesus Christ. Once you are saved, I assure you that you will know where GOD stands on tithing.

There is nothing wrong with pastors preaching about both tithing and salvation. The message may not have been for you. What one reaps is what one sows. You don't have to be a Christian for that to be true in your life. I however encourage you to give your life to Christ if you haven't done so already. It doesn't mean your life will become a bed of roses. GOD never promised that in the Bible.
