Okay, have they been sentenced mercilessly? Their case is still in court with the judiciary not the executive. They are simply victims, with every other person in police custody, of Nigeria's slow and cumbersome legal system. There are many innocent people in police detention for years waiting for sentencing. It has little or nothing to do with the present government or age of the criminal.

My posts have been focused on the judiciary and the police force. It is not a good look for Nigeria that kids are being arraigned or even accused. If this should get out there - it will be difficult for Nigeria to justify arresting minors in this particular case especially knowing that life is a lot tougher for people.

You are right about optics and politics. Our law enforcement is messed up from decades. Minors can't just go Scot free for being minors. We have many minors as foot soldiers in the North especially, committing all kinds of crimes from bandits to herdsmen to boko haram to religious murderers and jungle justice. Are you saying all these crimes should be overlooked once they are minors involved or what? What part of the universe allows people go Scot free because they are minors? If you are asking for juvenile protection in their judgment and punishment, i understand. But scot free, mbah no capital NO.

Read my posts carefully. Mercy can mean giving other forms of punishments. Asking a minor to pay 10m as bail meanwhile a senior member of the legislative who committed a crime in public was charged 500k as bail makes our judiciary look silly. And yes in some countries, children are treated with love and understanding that it is better to educate and rehabilitate them. I will summarise, for those who are minors - I would advise for them to be treated differently. If what I have read is true, Tinubu is on the same page as above. You shouldn't be punishing a kid the same way you punish an adult.

Mercy comes at a cost, a high cost of Jesus paying the ransom, or mercy for the merciful. You probably have not seen a mob before, maybe you will have a different opinion apart from seeing pictures of hungry people. Everyone in police custody is malnourished and hungry, perhaps we should have mercy on them all and release our prisons to show some godliness. Life doesn't work that way brother.

That is why it is mercy and why wise people know how to use. There is always a cost to mercy as a parent, as a leader, as someone who has been wronged. No one is arguing the kids haven't done something wrong. What is been said is temper justice with mercy. For there to be mercy, there has to have been something done wrong. Life does work that way. As a parent, I know when to show mercy to my kids. As a leader within my space, I know when to show mercy to those who if justice was applied would be punished.

How many minors do you know there, because they are all being lumped together in the pity narrative. i didn't see where or who accused them of treason, maybe the people pouring their frustrations on Tinubu accused them of treason in their WhatsApp groups. The news reports i read was about attacking and injuring police officers, accused of burning police stations, the High Court Complex, and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Complex during the End Bad Governance protests.

I will repeat my foundational statement. My comment has nothing to do with the protesters but the minors. As long as there is one minor in there, the comment stands. It is ridiculous to arrest a minor and charge them for the crimes mentioned. You can deal with them via other means. A wise leader would manage this differently. It is not good optics which is why Tinubu has requested the AGF to look into this. Do you think anyone here is going to care about the Nigerian Police Force after this silly show of dealing with minors? I for one have resolved that I will not go out of my way to help any police officer.

They are hungry stricken because everyone in police detention is hungry stricken regardless of age. Should every criminal in Nigeria be released already because they are hungry stricken? What crime is exactly a crime in this country, because everything somehow gets a defense from the people.

A mark of a good leader is one that knows how to show mercy. The best example is our father in heaven, we deserve deaths by the law due to our sins. However his son died for our sins and as such gave a route for him to show mercy to those who ask for it by accepting this price and acknowledging that Jesus is the way to heaven. There are examples of how wise leaders or people in authority use mercy. These are kids. Not all crime is the same. Kids carrying placards and protesting should not be jailed. Protests are not crimes. On the charge of treason, is the Nigerian Police force ok? They are charging kids with treason.

What I do know is charging any protester for treason is wrong. Protests are not riots. It is a right in democracy to protest.

That is in line with proper practices. I know we don't normally do such in Nigeria but this behaviour is correct to avoid use of authority to dissuade witnesses.

In hindsight it is a sin as you are damaging your body and also hurting your future partner. It is not explicitly stated in the Bible as in 'Do not masturbate'. Take it from me - you are right to not do it. With experience I can tell you to treat it as sin. It affects your body mentally and physically.
