A Teacher’s Experience and the Growing Threat to Educators Doubts About the Parents’ Story This story from the parents seems questionable. Throughout their account, they never stated what their child actually did, nor whether they had reported anything to the school management before now. As far as I am concern, this story is just "DAMAGE CONTROL" A Recent Tragedy in Oyo State Not long ago in Oyo State, students of a certain school attacked and brutally beat a teacher who corrected them for gambling in his class. The teacher later died in the hospital from the injuries he sustained. In the end, many members of the public still blamed the teacher for not being professional. A report even said the teacher died as a result of bone cancer not as a result of the brutal attack on him by his students. No one focused on the crime committed by the students. To borrow the famous words of Chinua Achebe, THINGS FALL APART. A Personal Encounter as a Private School Teacher The Parent Who Came to Attack Me I teach in a private school, so I understand the pain teachers go through. A parent once came to my school to beat me up if not for quick intervention. He told me he had gathered information about me: my home address, my wife, my children, and even the places I visit. According to him, he only wanted to see me face to face before beating me thoroughly and throwing me into prison, certain that no one would see me nor save me. What Triggered the Confrontation What was my offence? His son (being my student of Year 12 then) was not properly dressed. He was coming to my class sagging, with his pants partly showing, and he was barefoot. I told him to go and dress properly before coming into my class. He tried to force his way into my class but I did not allow him even when I allowed others who were properly dressed. He left reluctantly. He was a boarding student. I assumed he went to dress up, but he never returned. A few days later, the father came to attack me. According to the father, someone told him I sent his ONLY son out of my class. I told him that in all my years of teaching, I had never sent out any student from my class. I prefer to correct them in class and then report the matter to management if needed. Fear of a Hidden Weapon While he was ranting and threatening me, he kept his hands in his pockets. I wondered whether he might be holding a weapon. I stayed calm as I explained the situation, but I remained alert. Some years earlier, a parent had come to attack a colleague with a pistol. Fortunately, he did not meet him. All these thoughts filled my mind as this parent stood before me with his hands in his pockets, threatening me for trying hard to make his child a responsible member of society, yet what the parent could offer in return was attacking for correcting his child! The Harsh Reality for Teachers Teachers, especially those in private schools, are at the mercy of the school, the parents and the students. No one seems to care about their struggles or sacrifices. Yet they are the ones who shape every professional in society. A Note to Parents and Teachers A Word for Parents Children rarely admit they are at fault. They will tell you what someone did to them but keep quiet about what they did to others. This is natural child behaviour, but it can mislead parents. So it helps to pause, filter every report and verify it before reacting. Ask questions. Speak with the school management about the incident. Get the full picture. When parents respond without checking the facts, they may end up defending bad behaviour and harming the very child they hope to protect. In other words, calm enquiry goes much further than anger. A Word for Private School Teachers Teachers in private schools need to be careful. Be professional at every turn. Avoid hitting any child because it exposes you to danger and puts your job at risk. If a child misbehaves, document it and report it through the proper channels. Let the management handle the matter. That is how the system should work. However, if you have followed all procedures and the authority refuses to act, protect yourself. Do your job, but keep a safe distance from that child. Treat the child with basic courtesy but do not engage beyond what is required for academic work. In short, withdraw emotionally and practically. Consider the child a non-participant in your space so that you remain safe. You have a family. You have a life. No job is worth losing your safety over. Teachers give so much already, so guard your peace and protect your future. +2348030981258 Austin |

I know someone who merits this kind of treatment here in Naija. He is from Kastina State. But cannot do it because Nigerians are very religious. They like their oppressors. |
When we say religion is one of the major problems, apart from politics, why Africa is backward nobody will agree. See this now. If you check around you, are not everything not satanic: the sign of the cross we make, the cross itself, ocultic symbols such as Bluetooth, WHO (World Health Organisation) logo, logos/emblems of cars, power button sign of our electronics, to mention but a few. So, the woman and her family should avoid associating with all the above and others, not just football. Their is a thin line between Ignorance and faith. AFRICA. |
So, election has become pure mathematics. Is it not FFK that said GEJ will win PMB in 2015 by over 2 million vote margin based on his mathematical calculations and permutations? With the dissatisfaction and poor performance PMB brought upon himself even his people in the North West will vote against him. We don't want a president that declare "shoot at sight on ballot box snatchers" but kept quiet in the face of Fulani herdsmen (his foot-soldiers and kinsmen) slaughtering and butchering farmers across the country. Buhari has never been so scares of election but this one. Back to Daura you must go. Mainwhile

Originakalokalo:My question to you : Are you are Pharisees or a Jew? If yes then the woes are for you. If no, then read Gal 3:10, and Gal 3:23-26 Show me just one verse from the Bible where Jesus or the Apostles collected or paid tithe? Does it means they won't make heaven? Christ is the end/purpose of the law. In Christ the law of Moses died. The law has done its job - to bring the Jews to Christ. Gal 3:23-26. |
jamael:Yes Jesus said some pretty mean things to people. Following is a list of things he said that were quite harsh. Take a look at these many verses spoken by Jesus. Matt. 7:4, "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye." Matt. 15:7, "You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, 8 ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me." 9 ‘But in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.’” Matt. 23:13, "But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you shut off the kingdom of heaven from men; for you do not enter in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in." Matt. 23:15, "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites..." Matt. 23:16-17, "Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, that is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.’ 17 “You fools and blind men; which is more important, the gold, or the temple that sanctified the gold?" Matt. 23:23-24, "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness; but these are the things you should have done without neglecting the others. 24 “You blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!" Matt. 23:25, "“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!" Matt. 23:27-28, "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. 28 "Even so you too outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness." Matt. 23:29, “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!" Matt. 23:33, "You serpents, you brood of vipers, how shall you escape the sentence of hell?" Mark 12:38-40, "Beware of the scribes who like to walk around in long robes, and like respectful greetings in the market places, 39 and chief seats in the synagogues, and places of honor at banquets, 40 who devour widows’ houses, and for appearance’s sake offer long prayers; these will receive greater condemnation." Luke 11:39, "You foolish ones, did not He who made the outside make the inside also?" Luke 11:43, "Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the front seats in the synagogues, and the respectful greetings in the market places. 44 “Woe to you! For you are like concealed tombs, and the people who walk over them are unaware of it." Luke 11:52, "Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge; you did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered." Luke 12:1, "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy." John 8:44, "You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father..." John 8:49, "I do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me." John 8:55, "and you have not come to know Him, but I know Him; and if I say that I do not know Him, I shall be a liar like you, but I do know Him, and keep His word." It is obvious that Jesus, who is God in flesh, the great loving teacher, also said some pretty harsh things to people. He called them hypocrites, fools, blind people, blind guides, whitewashed tombs, lawless, of their father the devil, and liars. Why would Jesus be so harshly people? He did this because he hated their sin and despised those who hindered others from coming to saving relationship with him. Remember, saying harsh things to people is not wrong. But what is said needs to be true and tempered with wisdom. We need to be careful when we speak harshly and we need to attempt to be loving and kind whenever possible. But it is not wrong, in and of itself, to speak the truth when dealing with peoples' rebellion against God. |
Before we bury Freeze: Let us study the scripture. So many abuses and curses are being hurled against Freeze because he called "A man of God" bald headed screeching fowl. Are these words worse than the instances below as found in the Bible? The issue of age should not even arise here. Reasons: Jesus was just 30-33 years old when he started confronting the teachers of the Law and the status quo. How old were the scribes and pharisees? 20,30,40? No. They were in their 60s,70s, 80s. Jesus calling the teachers of the Law Snakes/vipers: Matthew 12:34 (KJV) 34. O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Paul Confronts Peter: Galatians 2:11-13(NLT) 11 But when Peter came to Antioch, I had to oppose him to his face, for what he did was very wrong. Jesus cursed the Scribes and Pharisees: "But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!"..... “Woe to you, blind guides,...... Age is Not the Issue here, but the Truth in Love. How old was Jesus when He started questioning the teachers of the law? Luke 2:41-52 (ESV) 46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. So, freeze is taking the foot-steps of Jesus, and our first Apostles. How they challenged authorities and customs of men. This is not the time of respect but Truth. It is time to enmacipate ourselves from mental slavery. God has not given us (Christians) the spirit of fear: 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. "Our mumu don do" |

This is long overdue. Is PMB doing this to gain cheap popularity come 2019 elections? We don't need this anymore. The deception is enough. PMB must go. |
marvelife: Restructuring means re-organising, repositioning or re-constituting a body, institution or even a business for better performance. Nigeria should be restructured in the following areas: 1. Federating units (state government) should control their resources. 2. The Federating units should allocate 13% of their revenue to the federal central govt, against the present structure. 3. States should have and control their own police, as is done in USA. 4. Power generation, distribution should be left in the hands of the Federating units/regions. 5.The federal government should be in charge of currency printing, stabilization and exchange rate control. 6. The education system should be in the hands of the Federating units. 7. Religion should be separated from the state/government. 8. A new constitution should be drafted and implemented. 9. No political office holder should seek medical care abroad. 10. No political office holder should have a private power generating plant. 11. Children of political office holders should be schooled within their states along others' children |
AYLiveSHows:Hate speech is one of the tools used by PMB before, during and after all his elections in history. Why does he want to stop it now? Is he scared of being used against him in the coming elections? Which ever way. Let him try. We are waiting and watching. Bubu dey smell. |
You Muslim, it is very clear even fro ur Quran that Jesus is greater than Mohammed. Read John 1:1-3 King James Version (KJV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. From the above Biblical verses, the Word of God (Jesus) is eternal, He created all things, and all things were created by him that were created. He is the uncreated creator. Anasko: |
safarigirl:History of White wedding white wedding is a traditional formal or semi-formal wedding originating in Britain. The term originates from the white colour of the wedding dress, which first became popular with Victorian era elites after Queen Victoria wore a white lace dress at her wedding. However, the term now also encapsulates the entire Western wedding routine, especially in the Christian religious tradition, which generally includes a ceremony during which the marriage begins, followed by a reception. Visit https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_wedding for more details. Question: the marriage attended by Jesus at Cana, was it white, traditional or church wedding? It is a Hebrew traditional wedding, not church nor court, or any other. We African, we also have our own traditional marriage/wedding which is fully recognised by God (particularly, if devoid of fetishism). As far as both families if the couple have agreed to such marriage and the necessary bride price has been paid, such marriage has been contracted, accepted in the eye of God and man. All these so-call white wedding (so called because of the dress code of the day), court (legal marriage) or church wedding were brought to us by the white after calling us monkeys, people of low mentality, and inferior to them (the white). We should stick to our African beautiful culture. |
HungerBAD:GEJ was very corrupt compared to previous leaders. on the contrary, PMB is very innocent and upright that he has recovered 7trillion tru TSA, money that is enough to finance our 2017 budget, undisclosed amount of recovered loots since the war against corruption begins, yet he still wants to borrow money. Itse Sagay had before now given Lawal (SGF), Magu, Burutai, a clean slate absorbing them of any corruption activities. Now that Lawal has been sacked by PMB, is Sagay guilty of or covering corruption? Don't u think the Sagay Anti- Corruption Committee be devolved since they are covering evil? When PMB leaves office today his administration will also be probed remember! It is then we will see who is more corrupt between GEJ and PMB. |
