Righteousman: Friends, Pls can someone pls help me confirm if I can still accept admission at OAU after I have registered and paid acceptance fee at Unilorin. My admission at OAU is in progress, with 80% assurance(from an H.O D) but not yet through. I dont know whether double admission will tolerated. I prefer OAU but their process is relatively slow. I also do not want to neglect accepting Unilorin admission - just in case. Pls when is OAU likely to conclude its admission process? Your kind advice will be appreciated.

Since I've been on NL, I've nt heard anytin like philosophy n psychology. Is it that no psychologist n philosopher on NL. I bliv NL is a citadel of learnin n studyin human bhaviour, nature n universe, mind n thoughts are part of xperienc dat mak us a future leader n it shud b comentated. Great minds n future leaders are here, Iron sharpens Iron lik wis Great minds sharpen small minds. Let's discus hw to study human character, hw to develop a creative mind, hw to develop a good sense of humour, a good memory, good thoughts n mind-set to overcome difficulties, why we bhave as we do, etc. Enhance somebody today n make a world a better place. Success is never count by what u possess but no's of lives u influence. Thanks

I guess you are the elect/elect guy with an affinity for maths, right?
Many have done it, and many more will do it, including you. The most important thing is understanding yourself. NEVER be too overconfident. To bag a first in Ife, you have to read well and I advise you to stay in campus all through your stay for various reasons.
It is relatively easier to perform well in your part 1 and I advise you to try and perform excellently well in that year. Aim for all A's. Let your Part 1 results lay a foundation for your pursuit.
Part 2 is somewhat harder but it's all about hardwork, reading past questions, understanding your lecturers and God (Ife guys are religious oh). Never fail to consult your colleagues if you have any challenge in any subject or course.
Also, never allow a poorer-than-expected grade dampen your spirit. I have seen people that have risen through poor grades to make a first in Ife.
Get to know those ahead of you (your seniors), especially the good ones amongst those immediately ahead of you. It's very important. Learn to know them and leverage on their experience and materials. Get advice and materials from them.

Before I forgot to say this: Believe in yourself. Do not listen to people who tell you a course or lecturer is difficult. Don't also listen to people who are quick to tell you how hard Ife is, or how much people fail a course. Instead, divert your attention to stories of people who have excelled in their courses. This will motivate you.

In Nigeria, it's not possible. You will need to do a PGD in mech engr'g before going for MSc in Mech Engr'g. I believe it's very possible in US and other foreign countries.
But like yamakuza said, why not go for mech engr'g? You will meet enough physics that will keep you more than satisfied because mech engr'g involves the application of physics. In Nigeria of today, I won't advise you to go for a non-professional course like physics except you want to go into research.
