Christianity Etc › Re: The Truth About Tithing by Dtruthspeaker: 8:47am On Jul 30, 2025

Thanks so much for this six year old comment.

It is nairaland comments like this one that helped me confirm my own thoughts on the obsolescence of the tithe law, several years ago.

They triggered my curiosity and with the availability of Google search results I was saved from the yoke of guilt trapping by gods of men who are ravenous charlatans in cassocks.

The obsolete Jewish tithing laws are far from the practice of Christians today. They are closer to the bazaar festival of Catholics.
First, it is not a Jewish thingy but a Commandment of God

Then, secondly why would you not like it? Is it that you were happy to give before? So you have only seen what you would like to hear exactly how adulterers are happy to hear something that sounds like they can have more wives

EMIOMOADEOYE:
Judas and Israel chose not to live according to their belief. And what happened? They were rejected.

Thomas doubted. Peter betrayed Jesus. All his disciples fled. Was it because they did not believe? No. They were human. Imperfect humans. That did not make them unbelievers. Jesus could see their heart. He knew that there was yet potential for much good.

And that is why he extended mercy towards them. Based on their belief, they acted accordingly in Faith.
Please, don't speak rubbish. If you truly understood how belief operated then you would have known that Jiudas had no chance. And you obviously did not hear God Corse him even before he sinned

So, as I said, you don't know what you say.

Then for the others which reasonable person does not understand why Thomas would doubt (which Christ then used to bless those who are not like Thomas)? Or why Petter betrayed?

They were within reasonable limits, so
mercy could be given. (And I am sure that you do not see that the word "Mercy" means discretion. Which means that there is also the possibility that you would not get mercy like Ananias and Sapphira, whose conduct was also understandable.

So anyone playing for Mercy is not a believer, for we can all see that Christ was not pleased with their actions, clearly showing anyone who truly wants to see where the good ground with God is.

Are you trying to tell me that God doesn't know they will reject him before bringing them into the world. Remember Isaiah 46:10 says He declares the end from the beginning...
Do you not already know that your child will fall or pass exams?

Does that knowledge not mean that you have a plan of action in response to either situation that occurs? Yes

So does your knowing stop your child from failing/passing the exams? No

Or/and does it affect your plans and response? No

So, your foreknowing only affects you and how you will respond to it. It does not affect your child's choice of failing or passing his exam or in this case Cyrus.

Because you see Cyrus obeyed and did His Will is why you conveniently forget all the others who disobeyed eg Moses,(whom you even see that God almost killed him when he refused going to Egypt even after God had taken the pains of convincing him to go.); Esau, King Saul all of whom God had a Plan on top of them, yet we see them exercise their will to disobey.

So, if you are right then it means all of them should have obeyed without deviation and hit God's purposes destiny since God has already destinyd it, as you say.

Yet, we see that they did not and the Bible shows how they exercise their free will.
And funny how your foreknowledge/destiny thing only applies to those who ended in a bad place as if destiny should not also make a person be good throughout.

Clearly your destiny get eye and dey partial. And God is not partial, as was done to Ananias so also was done to Sapphira

Your Bible is nothing but a mere Isreali story book consisting of myths and fables not meant to be taken literally. Take for example, there is no historical evidence the Jews were ever slaves in Egypt.

You have to come up with real evidence not mere Bible quotes if you want to be taken seriously
You obviously never heard that Egypt only keeps good reports of itself, not to talk of the fact that the world put them in the very same place which you the bible said God had given them before.

Meanwhile, you are an example of the persons 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 is referring to

Anyway all this is a deviation from the thread

Exactly why
1 Corinthians 2:14

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Because they are spiritually dead,
the things of the spirit of God sounds foolish to them..
For them to be spiritually dead means that they were spiritually living before.

And for them to be spiritually discerned means that they have a spirit.

And God gave every man a spirit, so you see your point is null.

When Jesus said Lazarus was sleeping, and then assessed the reaction of the people, what did he say? He said "Lazarus has died."

What did he mean when he first said Lazarus was sleeping?
Is that not Him showing that what He calls "sleeping" is what we call death, as He still repeated again when He raised Jarius daughter?

"And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.

EMIOMOADEOYE:
You assumed my definition of a believer.

Tell me...what is your definition of a believer?

Who was the believer referred to in John 3:16? Because if you know who that believer is, there is no way you would have jumped to the assumption you just made.

Before you answer that question though, bear in mind what is containied in James 2:17. You can as well start from verse 14 for a fuller context. (Just in case you were about to make another wrong assumption.)
As James said did you not see what Judas and Thomas did, even though they were walking with Christ?

Or did you not see what Isreal did even though they saw God's signs and wonders?

Forgive me, like the bible, I stop here and won't spell it out for if indeed anyone wants to see, they can see. But people love not to see and love pretending as if they do not see, so I prefer to leave them as they like. Because it's funny how when it comes to God's things, they act like they don't see but meanwhile, all the way from Abuja they can spot a weak girl in Lagos whom they shall plan to devour.

So, forgive me, I don't subscribe to helping people who have eyes for they are only blind because they like the logs in their eyes.

However this quote helped me so I have no right to keep it to myself

He does not believe that does not live according to his belief. Thomas Fuller

Is there any where, were Esau or king Saul say they reject God?

You implied it and both I and the op got it.

And you further prove it by saying "salvation is not for all bruh, some people are just fulfilling the will of God in being bad". Which means that you say God is not just.

Christianity Etc › Re: What's Scarier Than Death? by Dtruthspeaker: 6:19pm On Jul 28, 2025
EMIOMOADEOYE:
I think the main point everyone seems to miss is that Sin has only one consequence..........DEATH

And I am glad you highlighted that in your opening sentence.

It therefore means that at Death, the penalty for sin is paid. The punishment for sin has been served.
Yep!

But you forget to ask Whose death?

And this is where you see that a part from Adam male and maybe Judah's sons, no one else has died God's death!

Which is proven by the fact that God calls this death we call death, "sleeping"!

Therefore, it stands to reason that no one has died yet. Alll sleep as is even written in the bible.

EMIOMOADEOYE:
However, for an unbeliever who did not accept Christ, there is no basis for retribution. He cannot gain back what he has lost because of his sin. He cannot gain back the life he paid as a consequence of his sin

For a beleiver, who beleived in Christ, even before he died, he was already bought and redeemed from Sin. So that even while he was yet alive, he was no longer under the burden of Sin. There was no penalty to be paid, because Christ had freed him from Sin. Such a person, if he dies, as will all mankind eventually, he has the hope of regaining back that life that he lost.

This was my position.....and for some reason your brother disagrees with me
You obviously do not know what believe/believer means and you think they are just the simple daily meaning that we use in accepting simple things.

Whereas, this is life and death, and unless you think that life and death is a small thing then you are making many mistakes already

Abel was declared righteous.....was he not?

Abraham was declared righteous.....was he not?

If as you say, no one has been taken to God's court.....how then when they declared righteous?
Did you not see that it is a commentary like APC did for Tinubu's election?

They are even commentaries that were made AFTER they died.

Which means that they did not even know their judgement.

And meanwhile for you to be acquitted, YOU MUST BE PRESENT IN COURT. So, nothing here

EMIOMOADEOYE:
Let me borrow yet another common but faulty interpretation of one of Jesus parables.

The Rich man and Lazarus.....if as you say, no one has been taken to God's court, how did the Rich man get to where he was.....and how did Lazarus get to where he is with Moses.......(mind you I am not saying these are correct interpretations. I am only leaning in to make you think again about your reasoning
You have said the word; it is a Parable. Compared to citing a case eg when Jesus cited the case of Abraham John 8:40

So it's safe to say the Bible is erroneous in saying what it says in Isaiah 45:7 and also Proverbs 16 4 right?
I knew you will move post to Isaiah 45 as you have not asked yourself what is wrong in creating evil. Going by God's Laws, what thing will deal with evil if it is not evil itself! Is it a baby you would send to deal with Boko haram or is it a killer?

MeetDx:
And I never mentioned anywhere in my post that God is unjust or evil. He is a righteous God, His judgement goes for the Just and Unjust alike. How do you expect a righteous God to reward you with good when you practice evil?

What a man soweth that he shall reap. So let the wicked be wicked still and the righteous continue in their righteousness in the end every will reap what they sow. So what's wrong with my explanation?
Like the op told you, you are saying God is unjust and bad because of your fallty thinking as proven by your words.

And you must think this way because you have not dug deep to understand God and His Ways

1. David had a good background as a shepherd that prepared him for the kingship role

2. God is Merciful and Just. The freewill given to Man doesn't mean he should live his life anyhow. Any Man who breaks even societal laws will face the consequences even though Man is free in quote. There's freedom and there's law and order.

3. If you know what is to happen in future and can make choices, you'll take decisions that'll favour you. God knows the future of every human ahead of time and takes His decisions accordingly. He's not unfair just as you're not unfair by taking a good decision that'll affect your future...

This is my own little understanding
God is a Spirit in fact the Head of Spirits so sees ahead of time. He knows what will happen and plans ahead of it.
Esau, Reuben, Judas will be bad options to handle those important roles. Also they contributed to whatever happened to them.
It's a deep discussion if we're to go further.
God values obedience to him than positions so will allocate roles to whomever will play by His books. He can elevate a nobody that values Him over anyone that's so called fit. Example David and his brothers.
You people always think that foreknowledge only happens on one side whereas there is also foreknowledge that this people could have done His Will.

Eg do you not already foreknow that your child can fall exams? But on the other hand do you not already also know that that same child can and will pass it?

And in all of this people's activities do you not see them deciding to do as they have willed and purposed?

Like in David did you not hear him say "I set my heart to know thy Law?" That is he chose to set his heart..

Please stop letting all those predestination shi be logs in your eyes

What they don't understand is that their line of argument (predeterminism) tells badly on God. He isn't so much God anymore and he's effectively made unfair and his judgements unjust.
