PropertiesRe: Modern POP Ceilings Plus Interior Finishing And Many More... "Process" Pictures. by dubuntu(m): 9:18pm On Sep 13, 2020
Good day fam,
I'd love to learn installation of gypsum boards false(suspended) ceilings. I mean the type that involves using steel angle bars and screws to fasten the boards to a support either on ceilings or walls.
I'm currently learning the use of POP for the same decorative purposes but I'd like to learn this alternative and (faster) method as well.
I'm currently based in Anambra state but I'm open to travelling to certain locations for this purpose.
I would welcome any suggestions as regards where o can learn this. thanks in advance.

PropertiesRe: How We Build Duplexes In Nigeria by dubuntu(m): 4:45am On Sep 09, 2019
I just have a simple question. [b]what exactly is a duplex?[b]

it seems like every single storey residential building in Nigeria is called a duplex and this is quite different from what I've been taught.

isn't a duplex supposed to be a house with two living units separated either completely or partially (semi-detached) by a wall?
PropertiesRe: Ask All Your Questions On Building Foundations/structural Issues -expert by dubuntu(m): 8:13am On Feb 03, 2019
@opalu,
I sincerely hope this thread hasn't gone cold because I have a huge interest in building construction and I'll have loads of questions to ask. let me start with these based on the few comments above:
* Does a bungalow require a German floor?
* Is a German floor the same as a raft foundation?
* If a bungalow doesn't require a German floor then how is damping prevented in a bungalow?

still on structure
* how do you determine the weight of a house so as to know how to distribute that weight along the columns going down? for example, if a house weighs say 100 tons and the soil has a strength of about 1ton/msq then I know I need about 10pillars with footing 1msq each (rough estimate I know). but how do you determine the weight of a house?

and then this question I am having a hard time getting satisfactory answer to:
# what exactly is a duplex? what's the difference between a duplex and a storey building? are they exclusive or interrelated?
thanks in advance
PropertiesRe: Choosing The Right Foundation For That Project Type & Soil. by dubuntu(m): 5:34am On Feb 03, 2019
very interesting topic! and I love the simplicity I n your explanation.
I want to ask: if you're using a pad foundation, what happens to the rest o the wall foundation? do you just lay blocks from the floor or do you use a sort of strip foundation for the rest of the wall?
Art, Graphics & VideoRe: Video Editing & Cinematography Jobs Here by dubuntu(m): 12:31pm On Jan 13, 2018
I just have a question to ask.
I am thinking about learning video editing on my own using enough you tube tutorials and other online materials. however there's no substitute for "on-the-job" experience. so I was wondering, what if I learnt editing on my own and decided to try myself out in the industry by applying for internship (sort of) what's the possibility of getting such jobs. the aim of course is to get enough experience.
Art, Graphics & VideoRe: To Become A Video Editor by dubuntu(m): 10:11am On Jan 13, 2018
hello fam!
I know this thread has gone cold but I just have a quick enquiry to make.
I want to go into video editing as a career. I plan to learn on my own using YouTube tutorials. hopefully after that I can get jobs somewhere to gain experience (sort of informal internship). these are just ideas I have in mind and I don't know how possible this will be.
so I'm throwing the question out here to those already in the field. what career path should I take and how possible will it be to implement my ideas mentioned above?
thanks in advance

The truth is, one of the mistakes people make, which I happen to have made myself is not understanding how design generally works. Who needs it. Why they need 'em. And, which among the different aspects of design is best for me. And, how do I leverage my market.

Take your time, even before enrolling or getting tuts online, head to youtube and search for intro to design. Elements of design. What makes a good design. And, google the different aspects of design. Once you find one that interests you, you can get tuts or enrol.

Why?
In as much as it is very good to be good at not just one aspect of design, there's always one that you can do better and would always prefer. Build you strength on it. And, as time goes on, you can add more skills.

Just like a goalkeeper, you can never be on every side of the post despite that he owns it. He has to take one side.
Get started. With one. You'll be focused. And, it'll be way more easier. And better.

Don't forget. Always find websites and works to inspire you. Get works that intimidate you. And make you want to do more.

And, don't forget to get mentors. No matter how much you know, there's always something you'll learn from them. Mentors, when you have the good ones, could be your best shot.

And, about how profitable the design market is, I'll say, "it is as profitable as you want it to". Just like every market, you have to take your time and study it. Find a niche. Know what they want, and deliver it right. Don't forget that no matter how good you are, there's always someone who is good or better than you are. How you project yourself and services is what sets you apart.

Good Luck.
And may the pixels be with you

Thanks guys.
I,'m definitely going to get enough training to polish my skills. But another question is how profitable is the graphics designing career? Because An important part of "loving what one does" is being able to turn a profit no matter how small. So I'd need a bit more industry info from insiders.

Some Nigerians need to buy sense. So any protest in the South South is now a militant campaign? How may of the fools commenting and raining insults here actually watched the video? Did u see people playing ball? Did u see militants? No! So why the insults and sarcasm? From what I've gathered from more reliable sources than some mindless OP on Nairaland those protesting were workers who have not been paid salary for months. And some brainless fish head will come to tag them militants while his senile bandwagon beat their drums by opening their rotten mouths in support of a mediocre and stupid post which was cooked up to only promote more harm than good!
Some Nigerians sha!

Art, Graphics & VideoHow Can I Get Reliable Software In Nigeria? by dubuntu(op): 2:42pm On Aug 01, 2016
OK I'll be brief as possible.
I'm about to start a course on graphics designing and I need the following softwares:
Adobe Photoshop
Corel draw nd
Illustrator.
I don't trust the vendors around so I checked jumia and boy the prices I saw there were shocking. I never knew software was that expensive.
So how do u suggest I purchase this apps? I don't want to download a version that will not have some in-app content available or have certain features blocked if u know what I mean.
Suggestions please.
