Congrats to all the new mamas and papas, successful POE and VO stories! Let me share my story (not what I expected but a good one all the same) cos of great people on this thread; ejisky, nwunyebuka and MOST especially firsttymum and lollyberry (who prayed with me for an early appointment date). Lol! Remember the lady that was in desperate need of an earlier appointment date than the one available which was for 14th of October? I'm she. Little did I know that was the day God destined for me to birth my LO. FF to lollyberry helping me with a contact to get an earlier appointment date and my doctor saying I should take it easy and placing me on antihypertensives cos my BP was rising. Prayed about this US waka and decided to forfeit till 2nd missionary in order to avoid stories that really touch both the heart and pocket. Lol! Long story short, I had my LO on the 14th thru an unscheduled CS (on my antenatal day oh) cos of a BP of 210/110 that "skyrocketed" from 150/80 in less than a day! I just bless God for life and good health! I wish all expectant mums (and dads) successfull POEs and safe delivery! Sorry for the long post. Thanks once again @ olokings, firsttymum, lollyberry, ejisky and everyone. |

Popri: I advise u keep checking if u looking at Abj I quickly jumped at the only available date 2 weeks ago for my mum and had to book 29th Sep which is waaay not it for me, but was scared that I may see Oct as the next date. The next day, even 10th of Sep was available and many days before 29th, I had changed appointment before that day so couldn't reschedule. Pls hold on a bit and check all through tomorrow, u may be lucky popri, yes it's Abj. thanks so much.. I just pray at least late September/1st week of October works out for me. |

olokings: Hellos. My take. I think the time period of ur appointment date is/was solely determined by you. Cos on their website I clearly remember seeing an advise to apply will ahead of time for your trip.
In view of the above, you could try calling the customer care however I wouldn't hold my breath for a positive answer (reality check) buh if you armed yourself very well. ... you still got time yo buy your ticket immediately after the interview. . Lucky enough is a period when flight tickets are even gonna be on the low. .. Good luck Thanks olokings. |

mamacajah: @duchessgoddess, I am not sure if you do. But what others have done in the past that worked was to keep a close watch and refreshing the page. soe were lucky to get a slot earlier, others were not. So you can try that and prayyyy for a closer date. hmmm... I'm really praying oh. even a week earlier would be appreciated. Thanks tho. |

firsttymum: I remember you (u were one who felt it's too late to apply for visa for birthing) especially when I saw ur question on USA visit visa page
I will answer that question here ( I hate commenting there) It's a 50 50 thing o.... If u and ur husband applies ur strong ties has to b on very tight level If you apply alone your husband is ur strong tie. But then again it doesn't always follow... Just be prepared, very very prepared.. get ur burden of proof set, so there isn't any reason for rejection.
U r must get that Visa in Jesus name Lol! Amen. I thought so too ooh. Just needed to be sure jare cos I read somewhere that the VO would find it difficult believing my marital status if I go there alone without even a toddler as proof. But thanks for clearing this out for me. |

ejisky: Hi Dear,
Search the travel section of this thread using the following hospital names/ Dr names in Chicago. You also need to search google cos you may not get the required info here. Thereafter you can make your decision based on proximity and cost. All you need is: Communication/quote from the hospital/Dr since its for your visa interview.
1. Roseland Community Hospital 2. Mount Sinai Hospital 3. St. Bernard Hospital 4. St Anthony Hospital 5. Swedish Covenant Hospital 6. St. Francis Hospital 7. Dr. Godwin Oyeama 8. Dr Ayoade Akere 9. Northwestern Hospital 10. Northshore Evaston Hospital 11. St. Catherine Hospital
All the best God bless you ejisky. Been trying to send you a PM oh, but I don't know how it works. Can we communicate via email? Thanks. |

Hello everyone.

ewa2014: No, I contacted them but I dint use them... Use the MMC clinic itself... Their doctors would attend to you... Tell them you are self paying and you get to pay $1100 for prenatal testing and drugs, sonogram and delivery. It's a package that makes sense...
If u use any of those naija doctors you are looking at within 3-5k in addition to the 6k hospital charge for two day stay. @ewa2014 please I need more info on the MMC clinic. what's the full meaning of MMC and what city is it located? Their contact details too. Thanks. |

bbaby84: You still have plenty time if you have the money. Owo ni koko. ... God bless us all. Thanks bbaby84 for your reply. But with my calculations with visa processing and all, if I were to travel say 32 weeks, it won't oh. But plsss, if you have info on how I can make it happen, I'd be glad to hear. And pls, what's the earliest week I can travel if 32 weeks can't work. Thanks. |

Hello everyone! First of, a very BIG congratulations to all new mums. I tap into that grace of safe delivery. I stumbled upon this thread 4 days ago and read thru from part 1 (and boy what a read! *whew*). I am an expectant (first time) mum and always had that dream of giving birth in the US, but I wanted to go about it right so my embassy trip doesn't turn out to be a futile and emotionally draining effort (VISA rejection and all). And I learnt a whole lot. Thanks sooo so much for all your selfless contributions. Unfortunately, I won't be using the US this time around cos I'm 27weeks gone already and I haven't even started the VISA application process! Defo for my next babies. I only wish I got to know about this thread weeks earlier |
