My wife is a student, I applied for visit visa with my kids in December last year and my application has not been completed.

I requested for my gcms and discovered that I passed eligibility and other stages, also PPR was marked for 3rd of February this year. However, my application was sent for security screening because my occupation deals with firearm and other combat weapons.

Pls what can I do to make IRCC send my PPR?

Use the new webform to request for an update on your application then said a plea email to Nairobi @8am their time, to London office, to Beijing office and maybe to Lagos and Abuja.

Because the processing time for our application was 13weeks and we are going to 8 months nothing has been updated, not even upfront medicals so we contacted MP 2months back and was told only criminality passed. She advised we contact them again after 2months if nothing by then.

I sent an email when after they did their medicals, then raised webform, sent mail and webform to include my first semester transcript and sent mails when application was 13 weeks for update. So, yes but they are for different and specific requests.

If I may ask, what’s the basis for the study permit extension and what documents did you submit for SOWP

My initial study permit validity did not cover my entire program because I defer and had a coop program. Similar documents for my study permit plus letter of intent showing why my spouse want to come to Canada and my children documents. Consent letter and letter of invitation.

To God be the glory great things HE has done..
So,we started this journey in June,2021....Hubby left Nigeria to canada for his 1year PGD..And we were like max in 3months ,we would join him.hmmmm
So he did the 1st semester for 3months and we applied in SEPT,2021 and children of God,the WAIT started..My kids and i did the upfront medicals in August 2021 bfr we submitted our application..
Every disappointment they say,is a huge blessing in disguise.We waited from Sept 2021 till July 2022.Omo,i was practically counting days.please note in all.of these,Hubbys grad was in June 2022 but study permit would be expired by August 2022.
We prayed...We fasted..We called on God and he answered!!!
Hubby applied fr his PGWP and he got a response and was offered 3years..3 whole years for a 1year PGD program.
August 4th,we got a mail from IRCC that hubby should update if his Job is a Noc O,A or B..
Fastforward,he's done with school and had started work!!!!!
We danced like David danced cos he has a NOC A job.
AUGUST 20TH,our medicals from 2021 expired and that same day we got medical request.come and see jubilation in my family.
So i quickly booked our medicals with Qlife and on Sept 20th our medical was passed.
ON THE GLORIOUS MORNING OF SEPTEMBER 27TH 2022,THE EAGLE LANDED...
NOW guess what They sent medical request again for my 2 kids.I was shouting for joy and thinking same time.
So we started sending webforms to them that the kids already did their medicals.it was the longest 2weeks EVER.OCTOBER 12TH their medical was passed and October 21st the eagle landed.
I just want to encourage someone out here that God is real...I look at my visa I see till 2025 as a work.permit holder!!!!!.Study permits for my kids.
It was a loooooong wait ..1year and 17days for me....
P.s..We submitted all the submittables and it finally ended in super praises....

Yes, it’s possible. A work permit and permanent residence application can run concurrently.

Abeg, people that have received PPR should come back to share timeline and document submitted as promised. Make we dey use that one hold body. Also, people that are yet to apply can also learn current trends on this application since Canada visa application is just as their weather.

I recently received my student visa and plan to travel in December. While applying for study visa, I stated in the family section of the form that I will travel alone and used my family as home. My agent told me last week that I have to wait till after Imy graduation before I can apply SOWP for my spouse and for daughter.

My advise is to complete your first semester, then apply for your family. It’s safer that way because 4 months is a long time for people to change their mind about a decision. You don’t have to wait till you graduate.

You can't apply for a work permit from inside Canada if you're on a visit visa.

Due to COVID, individual on visiting visa can apply for work permit within Canada until February 28, 2023.

So no PPR since last week Thursday, only refusals everywhere until now.

Simply because people are scared that their goodnews will be tagged as fake PPR. Hence, they announce it on groups where others will be genuinely happy for them. I counted atleast 4 PPRs on OJC telegram group today. I salute the courage of people that share their refusals here. I can definitely relate and I hope you find peace in all you do.

I really hope everyone here can shield their swords, have mutual respect when responding to comment and argument.

Help clarify

The visa only allow you to enter Canada. Study permit allow you to stay, work and study in Canada. It is issued at the point of entry which is valid for the duration on your passport or duration of your program, whichever is shorter. To answer your question. Getting a study permit means that your visa to travel to Canada has earlier been approved.

I got my AIP 7 days after submitting application back in 2020 and arrived in Canada Jan 2021. Waited till I was settled then I applied for wife's sowp along with son's vv in June and then the wait began. My wife works with one of the leading HMOs back home. We did upfront medical for both of them.

Nairaland was our go to for info. We read from page to page. In October I contacted the MP for my area. After the back and forth, I was told the application was just sitting in Nairobi, yet to be treated because of the volume of applications they have. She however suggested that I do a visitor's application for my son on the new portal hoping that once that is treated, it will prompt them to work on his mum's sowp. I asked if I should do the visit for both of them but she suggested just my son. In Nov, I applied for vv for my son and it was approved in 19 days. Then we continued to wait.

When nothing happened on her application by mid Jan this year, I put in an application for her too on the new portal. At that point I stopped reading nairaland because I stopped being genuinely happy for those who got their approval in one, two or three months. Here we were in our 7th month.
I must say at this point that I usually sent in webforms every other week on behalf of my wife, attaching my transcript, tuition and study permit each time. I also sent mails to the email addresses shared here.

At 40th week I started considering using an immigration lawyer. Two days ago, 41st week, I woke up and saw like 6 mails from ircc. My heart skipped a beat. I didn't bother to open the mails, I logged in directly because I knew it was either good news or good news. We have waited this long for nothing else. And there it was. My son's vv was withdrawn on the old portal while my wife's sowp was approved. Her vv application on the new portal was also withdrawn stating her sowp was approved.

There’s an 100dollar limit on naira card. Use options like barter by flutterwave, access visa signature card, get a TRUSTED friend or family to pay on your behalf and you send the naira equivalent(the last option is very risky,so you have to observe all due diligence).

Lump sum in my case was huge inflow from my parent few days to submission date. Although I explained it that it’s a gift towards my education. I guess the reason wasn’t satisfactory because it was stated in my note that the lump sum was not explained. 2) I changed from self sponsor to spouse sponsor because I do not have the inflow and outflow that will corroborate the expected closing balance. My husband had that, so we leverage on that, his properties and financial capacity to sponsor me.
