Staight to the point,if you dont want to see it on yours,follow this simple steps(serzly, no blog links involved)

Force Stop WhatsApp before proceeding.

Open the file ‘/data/data/com.whatsapp/shared_prefs/com.whatsapp_preferences.xml’

Find the key name: ‘status_mode’ and edit its value from ‘1’ and make it as ‘0’

Open WhatsApp and boom you are good to go!

I think the point is, an old account is considered to be somewhat credible, hence a blind eye is turned to it.
