InvestmentRe: Mobile Banking Users. How Do I Resolve This Issue? by DUNKA(m): 4:10pm On Oct 22, 2016
Go to your bank and fill in a transaction error form will be resolved within 48 hours. Had similar issue on my online bank a transfer of 460k was debited but the 1st bank beneficiary did not receive the money. Filled the form and within 24hours the money and bank charges were credited back. All the best.

dunka,
mine would be mounted on a separate tower besides the main water tank.
i consider a 300 litre weight of water too much of a risk to put on my roof.
if my roof were made of concrete like johnkester's probably i wouldn't mind
at all. but for those installing the 200 litre or 100 litre version i'm sure they
would be light enough to fit onto an aluminum roof.
Great. Anxiously awaiting the pictures of the install cheesy

Mine is mounted on a flat concrete roof, but I have a friend who mounted his on a regular long span aluminum roof and it is performing just as good. I will snap the installation and post it here next time I visit him.

I bought mine from a company in Lagos called PROACTIVE TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED. Their website is www.proactivetechng.com. You can call them for further discussions on price, delivery and installation depending on your location. In my own case I made arrangement for the installation of mine as I did not want to bother them traveling from Lagos to Port Harcourt. On the price, you will find prices and other brands of the product on Konga. Just search for solar water heaters.

Cheers
Thanks

I have the 300 liters mounted on my rooftop and centrally connected to all the bathrooms and kitchen! I can tell you that the water sometimes gets very hot and you have to be careful with the mixer so that your skin does not get scalded.

Imagine the cost of running gas cooker to boil hot water, or the cost to fuel the generator so your heaters can run. This is what I call green living. No need to worry about hot water except of course during those periods in the rainy season when it rains continuously for several days in a row.

Cheers
Goodday, if ones roof does not have a specified area for mounting the solar heater how is it mounted on our typical roofs? Also any pointers on price and where to purchase? Na gode smiley

Thanks for your response.

Let me ask: How do you cope with gas effusions from the batteries.... being in a confined space and being flooded batteries which have a higher tendency to give-off gas?
Would an exhaust fan in that room be of any use?

That Outback is a Munster! grin grin

Lastpage!
You will not notice gas effusions at all as room is well ventilated. The only time you will experience such is when you are running the monthly equalization charge where the electrolyte really bubble's and you can smell the gas.

But once you have good ventilation you have no problem

DUNKA,

Thanks for your response.

If l may ask: Is that battery set-up "inside' the house?
Are those flooded Batteries?
What is that B.I.G Black thing on the wall next to the window?

I have this challenge in relation to placement of the Panels.
I do not like them to obscure the beauty of my roofing (I placed a lot of emphasis on the use of Step-Tiles grin ) but the position of the Sun within the valuable charging hours is such that they have to be placed in such location for optimum charging.

I see yours too.
Is there "a way-round that bend", for those of us who will be going the Solar route on a build?

Thanks.

Lastpage!
Yes battery is inside the house and they are flooded batteries. The BIG black box is an Outback vfx 3048 inverter.
The only way is too take this into consideration at your designing stage so that the panels have optimum sunlight and not be seen cheesy

Can somebody help to suggest the composition and equipments from solar energy that will allow me to have a minimum of 18hrs of electric power in the house enough to power at least two 1.5HP split unit, two fan, 2 televisions, standard fridge/freezer and couple of security lights/bulbs all at a time and bearing in mind the system will be 100% independent of any connections to external power generation systems PHNC or likes. Any help will be appreciated.

My major concern is the batteries.
I had an inverter some years back but the battery did not last that much long.
I guess sit has to do with my over-draining it as l do use it till "it runs out of juice".

Having learnt from others, l have a bigger setup now that is doing better but at the back of my mind, l still worry about the batteries.

Can you confirm that your batteries have used up to six years (the same set of batteries from inception) or did you have to change one or two among the set?
What make of batteries?

Thanks,

Lastpage!

Edited: just realised it was a post from another user.
But do you have a Solar setup yourself?
Thanks Abu for your input. Yes I do have a 3kw solar set up.

Boss, I'm a novice seeking expert opinion.

Give me your own option within 600k (installation inclusive).

Thanks.
Go for maintenance free batteries as flooded batteries need more care as if your inverter cannot equalize the flooded batteries you will need to purchase a charge controller to do that.

Dear all,
I am about purchasing APS Inverter 3.5kva plus 4 pieces of 200ah batteries.
To add solar panels later.

Any advice? Caution? Better options?

My expected bill is as follows:

Inverter 138k

Battery 90k times 4 equals 360k

Rack/Stand 15k

Installation 40k

Total - 553k

Stop me before I make a mistake.

Note: just for my beloved TV and 14 energy saving bulbs a maybe a fan or two.

Total load less than 1,000w.
unionised please what sort of batteries are you using?

I use Mopower inverter(same as sulkam more or less) 1.5kva. Been using it for 1.5yrs now n sometimes t power my freezer or fridge with it n even my washing machine. My batteries are still going strong. So if it can run these loads without issues then what else? Btw its sine wave n its less than 50k now. I actually bought it 40k
Bros I am not challenging your assertion. You are using Mopower and you have good user feedback and experience that it is a good and reliable product. @op please consider this product in your possible candidates. I prefer brands that people have actually used and have tested their reliability. Its all good

But whats the advantage of a high end inverter? He is not running a hospital with pace makers or a recording studio where interference/noise is not wanted. With 700k you can go far with ur going green project. Inverter is just a converter instead get a normal inverter(Indian inverters are pretty good) with good charging system and you're good. With his 4 batteries and if he maintains 50% DOD and install a desulphator(about 10k) his batteries will last long. Alternative power should be cost competitive else won't be worth it. Some of these american inverters are expensive due to the cost of production/american pride and not because they are magical. It is what it is.
Just my opinion and he asked for the best but you know very well why there are high end inverters. Be rest assured there are good lower priced inverters but as you know most of the Chinese, Indian and Korean inverters are fragile and if you load more than 50% of their rated capacity you will know why high end inverters cost as much as they do grin

I have named brands that have good user feedback the choice is ultimately his for whatever decision he makes

No doubt that Solar pays.... in the long run.
The SUN's energy is free!

It is considerations like space (where it was not planned for in the building drawings or you are renting and cant just do willy-nilly), initial cost outlay and Batteries management that inhibits most people, from using it.

Let me ask: What informed your choice of 6V batteries, instead of 12V or 24V?
IMO, you can achieve your stated capacity using a smaller number/array of batteries than the current setup, if you were to use 12V or even better, 24V.
What is the voltage rating of each of your Panels?

Thanks,

Lastpage!
this post is from the solar energy thread posted by user GeorgeD1. Solar though expensive initially will pay for itself in the long run.

bigrovar,
many peeps complaining about the high cost of solar never really sit down to do the maths.
still, many of us trying to wean people off the 'generator mentally' are sometimes at a loss
when faced with such complaints as solar being too expensive. but when we are armed with
facts such as this, the advantages of solar in terms of cost savings becomes staggering.
do you know that even with dollar at 500 naira, solar is still cheaper to set up compared with
the long-term cost of running fuel-guzzling generators over the space of 25 years?

my solar panels are still pumping out juice over 6 years after installation just like they did from
day one. my inverter is still doing great with no issues at all. batteries are performing
marvellously. at this rate, i'm seeing myself coasting through another couple of years before
worrying about any system or component failure.

so, doing the 25year maths for cost of running generators, it will be like this:

522,000*25 = 13,050,000 naira
and if i were to run my generator for double the time, i'e 24hrs everyday (like my inverter presently)
it will amount to:

13,050,000*2 = 26,100,000 naira spent over that space of time.

thankfully though, I don't have to incur this cost anymore thanks to solar.

truly, the sun is the answer!

errrrm, i dont know how you would take this, but i think you shud pay more attention to ur wiring/setup.
spend a lil more and make your cabling neater, the other pic u posted of ur 16 trojan batts, was really really uncool, wires going here n there, n then this ur sitting rm/tv setup, a lil trunking and flat panels/wood would give the setup a more aesthetic look.
pls i beg you, dont replicate same in your new house

I am currently in the process of upgrading my setup, but torn between ac coupling it with a grid-tie inverter or buy a hybrid inverter.

Can you post a block diagram of your setup?
