@tpia, i havent really thought about younger men with kids, i guess i just assumed that younger men rarely get to raise their kids after divorce/ seperation. But i have nothing against them per se.

Hi Nl,
This post is about a conversation i had with my friend recently& she couldnt get it so i am hoping i can get honest advice here.
Ok here goes, i am a 26 year old never been married single mom& the only men who hav asked me out in the last two years are the under 35 never been married kind. The problem with this is i want to marry an older man who has kids because i think that will be the best kind of setting to raise my child.
My last relationship ended middle last year mainly cos i realized that my boyfriend treated my child like he was mildly irritating. He actually once said he wishes he met me before i had my child...
Anyway, I have since then i decided not to date anyone who didnt already have children. I know these kinds of relationship come with their own issues but...
so what do u all think should i date any of these young men asking me out? or should i wait for the ready made family i am dreaming about?
pls be kind with your comments. Thanks Y'all.

ABUJA – FEDERAL Government has approved a new National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members posting policy to make the progra-mme more responsive to the developmental needs of the country.

Director-General of NYSC, Brig.-General Nnamidi Okore-Affia, in a statement in Abuja, said the policy will focus on four key sectors: rural health, education, infrastructure and agriculture.

The NYSC boss said the new posting policy framework will enhance equitable distribution of corps manpower in a way that would curtail under-utilisation and re-energise the objective of the scheme as envisioned by its founding fathers.

He said: “The policy, which takes effect from the 2012 Batch ‘A’ service year, is to ensure more effective and efficient utilisation of the corps manpower.

“It is a deliberate attempt to apply the skill of corps members to areas of critical need and to fast-track the nation’s socio-economic transformation.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of Youth Deve-lopment Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi, yesterday, revealed that the ministry will collaborate with the Ministry of Health in the posting of corps members to make corps members participate actively in the provision of primary healthcare, especially in the rural areas.

Speaking during a visit paid on him by the Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu in Abuja, Abdullahi noted that the large youth population in Nigeria has a serious implication on how public health should be managed in the country.

According to him, after 38 years of existence NYSC was deviating from rural development, a part of the original objectives of setting up the scheme.

Just wondering-is there anyone here who's making a career of charity work and can give advice on how to begin.
Most job ads relating to charities are seeking experienced people or people with advanced degrees.
I would like to know what opportunities are open to people with first degrees in this field and how to get the required experience?
Help! somebody?anybody?

Business / Re: Explaining Islamic banking & Finance by durobraham(f): 4:22pm On Jul 06, 2011
@Jarus.Christian leaders are not paid public officers they are religious leaders. Sanusi is a public servant who has spent a considerable amount of time giving speeches in mosques instead of addressing the whole nation. It is folly to demand consideration , maturity and tact from religous leaders saying chriatianity is about live and let live and not heavily castigate a public servant who has displayed absolutely no respect  for how delicate the nigerian society is.

Christians in Nigeria have always had to bend over backwards not to upset fundamentalist Muslims. If you are a christian living in a predominantly muslim city like kano you have to dress like them to avoid being manhandled. When people kill Christians in the north in the name of Islam, Christians in the south understand that they do not represent the majority. So if Christians are upset by the actions of a Muslim public servant DONT TELL THEM TO BE MORE UNDERSTANDING, tell him to respect his office and act like the governor of the central bank of Nigeria not  Central bank for Muslims.

@chamber2, well said.
To all other posters Islamic banking is more than just the name it is called it refers to the legal system that regulates it. This is the Sharia legal system for those of you who are not aware. This means disputes arising from these banking transactions will be settled according to Sharia personal/civil law. This is more than enough reason for Christians to be concerned.

Secondly, why is the CBN gov going to such lengths to establish an alternative banking system especially after he has been accused of deliberately weakening our existing system. As a person so versed in Islamic finance wont it have been a lot easier  to set up modalities to inculcate some of these principles in our banking system which we all agree needs help.

As the governor of the central bank of NIGERIA(not muslims), if he has an idea which can help Nigerians generally why would he spend taxpayers money to create  a banking system whose benefit depends on your religion.

The truth is whoever controls the banking system of a nation controls the entire nation. The banking industry is the lifeblood of any economy. So many questions, so many reasons to be uncertain.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Is It Possible For Me To Get A Job? by durobraham(f): 3:53pm On Jun 24, 2011
That is assuming you intend to practice as a lawyer. If you don't decide what other field you are interested in for eg HR and get relevant work experience/certification before returning to Nigeria if you can. In my opinion, experience beats further studies any day esp if your first degree was outside Nigeria
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Is It Possible For Me To Get A Job? by durobraham(f): 3:47pm On Jun 24, 2011
As a lawyer i would say it is very possible, you could even get a job with some of the best because even though its a third class its a UK degree and it counts for something. It however depends on your law school grade, make sure you do your best to get a 2.1 in law sch. You should also pursue professional qualifications such as Ciarb or Icsa and try to get as much relevant internship experience in the Uk as you can. Goodluck!

Career / Re: Abj Law School Dress Code by durobraham(f): 7:28pm On Jun 22, 2011
By not stringent i mean you can wear for example black or white shirts with stripes/frills and black skirts with slits not that the dress code is completely relaxed. shoes must be black no exceptions!
Career / Re: Abj Law School Dress Code by durobraham(f): 6:31pm On Jun 20, 2011
I was there last year Bart part 2 tho. rules re not that stringent for Bar 1. your bag can be any color you wish from what i remember.
Career / Re: Abj Law School Dress Code by durobraham(f): 5:17pm On Jun 20, 2011
Well! your mum was right. U could wear all black but there must be no frills, dots or any other design. You are also not allowed to have slits on your skirts too dats rily important. In my opinion its safer to have mostly white shirts cos d dress code keeps changing.
Very simple jewelry (almost nonexistent)too, they are really strict about that.
