Politics › Re: 20 Days To Polls: INEC’s New Rule Sparks Rigging Fears by dustydee: 10:36am On Mar 08, 2015
At the rate of 500 voters to each PU, an allocation of extra over 1,000 to those 11 states in the North is a guarantee for no fewer than over 5,500,000 voters more than the entire Southern Nigeria – mind you, the North West and the FCT surpass the whole of Southern Nigeria in the Jega-inspired magic. By the time you add the allocation to North-East and North-Central zones, daylight would enter the crookedness of the whole engagement because, when you allocate PUs to areas with supposedly less population and you allocate materials, you are merely conferring undue advantage.
This is the dumbest assumption I have read in recent times. If in doubt please ask questions. Of what use is your education if you cannot reason? In the writers assumption, PU's automatically translate to voters.
I will try to explain what INEC attempted to do.
Having realised that some polling units were "over loaded", INEC decided to create new ones based on the number of eligible voters. As things stand at the moment, there are states with smaller number of voters and smaller size that have more PU's than larger states. for example, Anambra has a total voter population of 1,963,173 and 4608 polling units giving an average of 426 voters per PU whereas Kaduna with 3,743,815 has 4607 PU's which is an average of 807 people per PU. Also note that Kaduna is larger in size than Anambra. This means that not only is it going to take longer to vote in Kaduna, voters also have to travel further than thier ANambra counterarts to be able to vote. It is unfortunate that this move was given an ethnic coloration. My problem with the move was the timing which was very wrong. It should have been done soon after the 2011 elections or left till after the 2015 general elections.

The first picture is the satellite image of Nziko, Nteje, in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra state. The second image, taken at the same resolution as the first, is of Narayi in Kaduna South Local Government Area, Kaduna.
Nziko is in Anambra, a state with the highest number of registered voters in the South East zone. Although under the new arrangement being proposed by INEC Anambra gets only 121 additional polling units, the 4,608 existing polling units and the total of 1,784,536 registered voters mean Anambra has the lowest polling unit congestion in the entire South East zone, an average of 377 voters-per-polling-unit.
As a matter of fact, Anambra is the third most convenient place to be a voter nationwide, under the new arrangements proposed by INEC.
The top three most convenient states to be a voter are:
1. Ekiti which has an average of 297 voters-per-polling-unit
2. Bayelsa which has an average of 307 voters-per-polling-unit
3. Anambra which has an average of 377 voters-per-polling-unit
Now, note that the top three most challenging places to be a voter are:
1. FCT which has an average of 507 voters-per-polling-unit
2. Kaduna which has an average of 500 voters-per-polling-unit
3. Plateau which has an average of 499 voters-per-polling-unit
Narayi is in Kaduna, the second most challenging place to be a voter nationwide. Even though Kaduna gets 2,384 additional polling units under the new arrangement being proposed by INEC, the 5,101 existing polling units and the total of 3,743,815 registered voters mean Kaduna still has the second highest polling unit congestion in the entire country, an average of 500 voters-per-polling-unit.
Please, note that for the 1,784,536 and 3,743,815 total number of registered voters in Anambra and Kaduna respectively, INEC has the fingerprints of at least four fingers for every single person numbered in those 1,784,536 and 3,743,815.
Those are Nigerians, who stood in the sun, waited and waited to register on the DDC machines, and INEC is working with hard data, not armchair speculation, not the history your parents told you about the 1962/1963 census, or what your older sister told you about the 1991 census, or what you witnessed yourself in 2006.
We are talking real, verifiable, biometric data. Please, young Nigerians, don’t listen to those old people who cannot count or divide except it is stolen money, who cannot tell a Twitter handle from a Twitter hashtag – they are still living in 1971, the year they turned 40.
If we listen to such people and allow them mislead us, it would be said of Nigeria that the elders ate sour grapes but it was the children’s teeth that were set on edge.
All calculations based on figures taken from the attachments to the press statement published on the INEC website.
Satellite imagery made at WANGONeT’s booths finder.
On 17 September, 2014, I made my personal verification trip to Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra state. My trip to Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna state was made 24 September, 2014. From what I have seen on the ground, the arguments for the population density of both places is well supported.

Thank you so very much. I think it will amount to a breach of confidentiality if i should disclose the name in a public forum such as this. I have taken note of your point that the pay structure are generally immutable. I will be guided by this view in meandering the inevitable question of what i expect the authority to pay. At best i will give them a minimum threshold which should not in anyway be below my current pay pack. Thanks again.
You are welcome.

I am interviewing one of the new parastatals of the federal government and seek information as to how they pay. It is a senior management position but i have never had a stint with government other than paying my taxes. One thing stands clear, they appear to have deep pockets as they poached a few people from places like HSBC and JP MORGAN to mention but a few.
Government parastatals have a pay structure which is usually not negotiable. It varies from agency to agency and so we need to know which agency it is before people can give you meaningful answers.

You cannot pick and choose. The same government is quick to refer to the TI index when it favours it but quick to discredit it when it doesn't. The truth is corruption has eaten deep into every sector of our economy that no one knows its extent. Something needs to be done fast before corruption "kills" Nigeria.

bellamafia:
Hello Romancelanders,

I am in dire need of serious, unbiased advice to avert making a lifelong mistake. Serious comments only please, no trolls, judgemental people, immature guys and girls, religious extreemists NOT allowed in here.

Im a young lady, 27 years of age, have a nice job in a good company, very goodlooking. The reason for this description is to give a background to my plight.

I'm at that phase in my life where im ready to start a family. I always imagined that i would meet a guy randomly, fall in love and get married, but that has not been the case. With age, i learnt that marriage is not a fairytail and that one must think thoroughly, and venture with the head and the heart.

I have a guy whom ive dated on and off for 2 years and hes asked me to marry him a couple of times. We are very good friends, we have a certain kind of understanding, his family likes me, we share the same beliefs, ideologies and outlook on life. He can trek from berger to ojuelegba is that would make me happy.

However, we are not sexuall.y compatible. i mean the se.x is nothing to write home about. Ive tried many times to help him out, tell him what to do, etc but he never ever gets it right. That is a major issue for me. Hes also not so physically attractive, but im ok with his looks.

Im confused because i have a lot of other men flocking around me, showing indications of seriousness, but you know what they say about the devil you know and the angel you dont know.

I need advice please

Thank you

I will blame the courts for allowing the owners of Amigo Supermarket to go scot-free.
The courts cleared him based on the evidence (or lack of it) that the government presented. Did the government appeal the judgement?

It is obvious that Gen Buhari didn't submit any certificate to the army as at time of enlistment but a letter of recommendation.
Sir, this statement is not correct based on what we were told by the military. They did not confirm or deny that the certificate was submitted to them but confirmed that the certificate was not in his file. They went on to state that it was not the practice of the military then to keep certificates then- which could mean that they were either given back to the cadets or retained and destroyed later.
As for the letter of recommendation, till date, before you join the military, you must submit a letter of recommendation. These days at least one of such recommendations must be from a high ranking military officer. I applied to my university, through jamb, before I obtained my SSCE (even though I did not require a reference letter then). I filled in "Awaiting Result" against the subjects I sat for. You will agree with me that an SS3 student applying to join the military today will submit a reference letter with his application form and fill in 'AR' against the subjects.

barcanista:
That a man failed in the past shouldn't mean he doesn't deserve kudos for present successes. I'm happy for the successes and I celebrate with Mr President despite the timing. The end justifies the means
To think that someone who had the power to prevent those deaths but chose to watch people die needlessly perhaps for personal gain is unforgiveable. Many people had to die, lose their limbs, be permanently scarred for life or lose their livelihoods while the President stood by and watched. He had the power and resources to seek for these arms 4 years ago from wherever he got them from. That our Military is routing Boko haram now means that they could also have done same 4 years back thereby preventing or reducing needless deaths. Nay, Boko Haram had no right to even acquire all the arms they have in the first place. The present government allowed this wound to fester and should pay for it one way or the other.
Politics › Re: Military Takes Delivery Of Two Jets Loaded With Weapons by dustydee: 11:56am On Feb 27, 2015
The truth is gradually coming out.
First they said the Military was well armed then they blamed their inability to get weapons on the APC and the USA.
But thankfully the President admitted that the government did not adequately equip the military before now. In sane societies, he would have been gone or called to account for supervising the needless killing of innocent Nigerians when he had all the resources and power to prevent it.
God will judge the wicked and may the blood of those innocent people be on those responsible for not adequately equipping our military.
