This DSS spokesperson is very unintelligent. I wonder how she got into the service in the first place. I suggest that one of the first assignments of the next Government should be to sanitize the DSS and other security agencies such as the Police.

Travel › Theresa May To 'kick Out Foreign Graduates' In New UK Immigration Plans by dustydee(op): 12:33pm On Dec 21, 2014
Foreign graduates could face being sent back to their home countries under plans to “move towards zero net student migration” reportedly being considered by Home Secretary Theresa May.

Students from non-European Union countries would have to subsequently apply for a work visa while abroad in order to continue living in the UK after finishing a course of study, The Sunday Times reported, instead of being able to apply for one while still on British soil.

A source close to the Home Secretary told the newspaper: “Making sure immigrants leave Britain at the end of their visa is as important a part of running a fair and efficient immigration system as controlling who comes here in the first place.”

Mrs May is also pressing for the power to be able to penalise colleges and universities that would have low success rates in ensuring the departure of foreign graduates and to deprive them of their right to sponsor overseas students, the source added.

Under current rules most students can apply for a work visa while still living in the UK, rather than having to leave the country to apply for one before potentially returning.
Mrs May has repeatedly clashed with Liberal Democrat Business Secretary Vince Cable - whose department has responsibility for universities - about foreign students as he claims that tough rules could discourage them from choosing to study here.

A senior Lib Dem source said her plan could deprive the UK of highly-skilled graduates.

“Such a blunt instrument would not get our support,” the source said.

“The idea that you have people from abroad studying in this country and they become engineers or scientists of huge practical value to the economy and rather than have them stay here you immediately turf them out makes zero economic sense.”

Mrs May's plan emerged after Prime Minister David Cameron insisted that only the Tories can offer “competence” on dealing with immigration. Mr Cameron and Mrs May plan to reduce net annual migration from hundreds of thousands to tens of thousands by the next election, however the Home Secretary stated on the Andrew Marr Show that the target is likely to not be met.

The Prime Minister claimed that his coalition government has addressed some of the problems inherited from the previous Labour administration that “let immigration get out of control” and seeks to pinpoint those living in the UK illegally before deporting them by revoking driving licences, the ability to open a bank account and have landlords check on the immigration status of their tenants.

Mr Cameron also stated an “absolute requirement” to make changes to the welfare state for migrants in the hope to cut down the numbers of people moving to the UK from within the European Union.

saintopus:
I went to buy Suya this evening at a junction along my street. I saw many guys and babes waiting for their turn to be served Suya by the Aboki. I noticed the following kinds of people:

1. 'Give me test' Aboki
These persons take seriously in collecting a small piece of Suya from the seller. They hardly know that it is part of their own suya they are eating.

2. 'Put More Onions'
These persons are onions addict, they like oniins. They will tell, the Aboki to make sure that more onions are added to their suya.

3. 'Aboki Put Jara'
These class of people like to be given something more to what they paid for. They do not mind if they buy only N50.00 worth of suya.?

4. 'People Who come to Smell the Suya.'
These are the "long throat " class. They follow friends to just feel the smell of the suya, in some cases, they are the ones that will shout "Aboki the suya too small "

5. 'The Big Boys'
They come usually remain in their cars and order the Aboki to put suya worth N2000.00 in five places and that means many people have to wait for a long time.

Please add your experiences
What is this? Nairaland now censors words indiscriminately now. for your information A-boki means friend not Northerner. Seun, please stop this senseless censorship.
Politics › Re: Reuben Abati Releases Wikileak's Secret Documents On Buhari by dustydee: 10:40pm On Dec 18, 2014
A US ambassador cable released by Wikileaks details how American officials guided Goodluck Jonathan to take the reins of the presidency during Umaru Yar’Adua’s chaotic last days. Diplomatic cables made public by WikiLeaks show that the American ambassador to Nigeria, Robin Sanders, instructed Goodluck Jonathan on how to get rid of former INEC Chairman, Mr. Maurice Iwu. Using the threat that the United States government would not support future elections if Iwu remained the INEC chairman, the ambassador suggested that Mr. Iwu be placed on terminal leave.

In the chaotic period, Jonathan was doing everything to appease the North. He told the Americans that the Northern political leaders were uncomfortable with him as the man at the helm. Jonathan found comfort in the counsel of the former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, who acted as his go-between with Northern leaders.

Ambassador Sanders warned Jonathan steer clear of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. She stressed to Jonathan that in order to be an effective leader, he wass not to be seen as being directed by Obasanjo. Jonathan promised to take steps to separate himself from Obasanjo.

The most revealing part of the cable was the point where Jonathan confessed to his ineptitude, “I was not chosen to be Vice President because I had good political experience,” he said. “I did not. There were a lot more qualified people around to be Vice President, but that does not mean I am not my own man.”

Further, he said, “not a politician” and had very limited experience as an administrator".

Dear Bunmi,

I know it sounds strange that at this time and age, there could be a virgin in her thirties but that’s exactly what I am. I’m currently dating a man that’s a few years older than I am and it will be a matter of weeks for sex to be on the cards.

Not me ooo, I got it from Vanguard oooo. LOL
What is strange about this? There many virgins around.

How long do you intend to stay? with a two year visa, I don't think you are allowed to stay in the country for more than six months at a stretch. I'll advice you get a B&B for two weeks which I believe will be enough for you to see all the interesting places in New York and you could briefly visit another state, say new Jersey before you return.

JayJustus:
actually the plane had slight issues and since it was on Nigerian airspace it asked for an emergency landing and the normal procedure is that routine checks be done on any plane that enters the country and so it was found...then they impounded it cos of the weapons found...it wasn't deliberately set to be impounded...so it wasn't a stopover
Please, on what basis was it impounded?
Politics › Re: Pictures of Russian Cargo Plane impounded in Kano and its consignment by dustydee: 11:55am On Dec 07, 2014
Why would Nigeria impound weapons meant for another country when we are not at war with that country? How would we feel if weapons meant for Nigeria were impounded on a stopover in another country?

Well, I don't believe this is true and will wait for further details from the authorities.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
Good one. I personally think the EE will be easier than the FSWP. I believe not many people will have job offers when they are applying.
I was waiting for the EE but now I am torn between remaining where I am now (UK) or moving to Canada and literally start all over again. I need to weigh the two options before moving forward.
I have always liked Canada for no reason but that is not enough reason to move there.
