chyegems: What if I use a nigeria IP as a born again Christian, won't I sell I ve not opened an acct though. Still battling with my spirit. I've gotten this question a lot of times from people whom I've tried introducing to freelancing. Always talking about being born again and what not. Changing your IP address and nationality to earn online isn't scamming. I am a very good writer, I do the job I'm supposed to do. I ain't cheating no one, I'm just tryna make a living from a place with so many odds stacked up against me as a Nigerian. So I don't get what you guys' issues are with the born-again thing. IF the Bible will bring money to my yours, no wahala. You need to understand that sometimes in this life, it is swim or drown, fly or crash, make or mar and forward or backward. There are sometimes no in between. |

Seun: It seems that the organizers have gotten a new sponsor. Good for them. I wonder why the contest is called "Miss Nairaland" though. No we don't have a new sponsor. The company that was mentioned offered to give their products as consolatory prizes to the contestants and also some money. We didn't go out seeking for new sponsors, they offered unconditionally. JAYBEE3 also offered the winner a fully paid for spa treatment. There are other numerous gifts and prizes the contestants have gotten which didn't go through the organizers. Maybe I shouldn't have acknowledged them but I did for transparency purpose. None of these diminish your role as the principal sponsor. It is a Nairaland event, it bears the name Nairaland and will forever be called "Miss Nairaland". |

safareegurl: the 5 neutral judges will ensure it's not a popularity contest.
It's the same tactic used in pageants worldwide. You couldn't pick enough holes in the idea and you think it's not smarter than what you have now?
You don't see people questioning the top 5, it's just the winner.
This is far smarter than what is on ground, you just won't admit it because that would mean admitting the current process is flawed If you think it hasn't been thought of then I don't know how you see things. Do you think I don't know how pageants are being run? What's obtainable in real life pageants is quite different from what we can have here. Where will the 5 neutral judges come from? Seun who has nothing to do with the selection of the winner has been accused of bias and supporting a contestant. The moderators who have been trying to maintain sanity on the threads have been accused of favoritism. How much more 5 ordinary fellow members who will decide the winner? Think about it. Right now you are my problem with the way you're watering down my efforts and my team's but adopting that method will bring about even bigger problems. You think Think about it. Have foresight. Then think about it. |

safareegurl: lol....how do the judges in beauty pageants pick winners? Do they know them? Is it not by a certain criteria?
-Looks -Intelligence - Ability to answer questions
For an online forum, you add things like
-How does said person relate with other NLers? - What is your participation level? Are you a regular or you just pass by?
If I got to organize this thing, there would be little or no loopholes to question.
The organization of a pageant in the real world is no different from debates. The NL Debate judges don't see the contestants in person as well. What makes you think some wouldn't have won if they got to stand in the presence of the judges?
Just like the pageants, the Debate teams don't get to speak to the judges unlike in the real world. In reality, some of those who lost debates would have gained an edge based on oratory.
I maintain that the process used in NL Debates is fairer....NLers will get the same powers people get in pageants. Remember, it's viewers votes that get contestants in the Top 15 of a pageant after which the panel of judges take over.
NLers votes will get contestants in the Top 5 after which the judges will take over. All you'll have to do is 'LIKE' the picture of who you think deserves a top 5 spot and when the likes are tallied, those with the most likes will go through.
Is that not an easier process than this one where you call an NLJega who may or may not be tallying the right numbers? Who is just a human being PRONE to errors?
Seun, Dygeasy, Ishilove or whoever organizes these things. Is the idea of NLers LIKING pictures to determine a Top 5 after which a panel of 5 judges from 5 different Sections chooses a winner not more feasible, legitimate and LESS STRESSFUL than the ancient method currently on ground? And likes will ensure its not a popularity contest? I honestly thought you had smarter ideas. |

safarigirl: my problem is that you people have reduced a beauty contest to a popularity contest, so ugly-average people are winning.
You people giving out Miss NL to people who you know are no better than Buhari dashing appointments to his brothers.
JeffreyJamez baba! How can we go from Twaci to this babe? Na this kain thing make me no dey like enter this Miss NL threads.
Good night abeg, I've said my piece on here. I will be back in the next edition to voice my disapproval on your next winner.
Sayonara There's something that hurts me. The fact that you always think you have an opinion on every issue when in reality some of the things you type as your opinions are just absolute bull$hit. I wouldn't address the issue of crowning an average looking person because in the end the votes are what count, and until you lot bring out a foolproof and better way asides votes, you should all shut up and stop typing tripe with your innocent keyboards. But then I really have to address the part where you called someone ugly. I mean no offense to your e-personality and all, you're an oldie, you're known where you're active, I've known your handle since way back and to be honest, there was a time you uploaded a photo of you. About two years ago and I am totally being honest here, if the so-called ugly Lanicky has her face battered with tribal marks, you've got nothing on her. You my sister aren't exactly good-looking so what the fvck is your problem? What are you on about? You don't have a solution to a problem, just pass on. Give us a break abeg. |
