The principle of zoning and rotation of powers may not have been expressly mentioned in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. However, it was clearly and unambiguously reflected in the federal character principle as enshrined in section 13 (3) and 4.
The third schedule, part one of the constitutions established the Federal Character Commission in Nigeria. The principle of zoning and rotation of powers as provided for in the Federal Character therefore is intended to promote from majority ethnic or sectional groups from holding on the government powers to the exclusion of others from minority groups.
Edo State like other States in Nigeria has three senatorial districts namely:
Edo South Senatorial District
Edo Central Senatorial District
Edo North Senatorial District
The doctrine of rotation of power therefore means that power must rotate among these three senatorial districts listed above in order to promote equity, fairness and justice, thereby guarantying even and equal participation in the government of the state.
This position has in the past been observed religiously by the good and peace loving people and the political leaders of our dear state with understanding and dialogue.
Evidently, Edo State has witnessed successive civilian administrations since its creation, with the cooperation of all stake holders in the Edo project as it relates to zoning and allocation of powers.
At the very beginning, our leaders met and zoned the governorship position to Edo South and deputy to North, the first beneficiaries then were the present National Chairman of the APC Chief John Odigie Oyegun (South) and Rev. Obadan (North) whose tenure lasted only two (2) years.
During the 1999 election, it was agreed that since Binis (South) did only two years, they should be allowed to complete their tenure hence Chief Lucky Igbinedion (South) and Chief Mike Ogiadomhe (North) became Governor and Deputy respectively for ( eight years bringing the Bini’s turn to a total of ten (10) years.
In 2007, Prof. Osunbor (Edo Central) and Chief Lucky Imasuen (Edo South) took over, but the court truncated that regime in just eighteen (18) months. This brought in the present administration of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North) and Dr. Odubu (Edo South) since 2008. During their second term bid, it was agreed that Edo North be allowed to complete their tenure hence the total support and co-operation from other senatorial districts, which gave Comrade Oshiomhole and Dr. Odubu an overwhelming victory in 2012.

From the analysis above, if we want to go by zoning, it is the turn of Edo Central to produce the next Governor of Edo State come 2016.
The Governor and All Party delegates should be honorable, considerate and show understanding by giving the necessary support and co-operation to Edo central towards producing the next Governor of Edo State

He proved it when he fell out with the PDP leadership because he refused to do what the PDP does best, which is 'sharing the money'....well let's leave the PDP for now.
Osunbor is a man of integrity, even as a PDP member, he was quick to commend Gov. Oshiomhole on his developmental achievements. Now Edo people must be sure of one thing, Prof. Osunbor is not going to be anybody's pawn... He will do the job he is giving to do with all sense of integrity and fear of God. We must stop this reigning myth that it is the turn for a Bini man to rule the nation but rather we should consider the most competent candidate and as at today, amongst all the aspirants, Osunbor is the most competent. As a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he held various chairmanship positions including:Chairman, Senate Committee on INEC; Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters; Chairman, several Senate Ad-hoc Committees and National Assembly Joint Committees; Chairman, Sub-Committee on Legislature and Legislative List, National Assembly Joint Committee on Constitution Amendment. So profound was my impact that I was nicknamed by my colleagues “Attorney-General of the Senate”.

During his 18 months as Governor, his impressive performances in all spheres are well known that it is indeed is impossible to enumerate them all but below are a few;
1.Commenced roads construction and rehabilitation across the state,
2. Increase in workers’ salary twice within a year,
3. State-backed access to bank loan for workers,
4. Increase of subvention to educational institutions,
5. Payment of bursary to students,
6. Payment of gratuity and pension to retirees,
7. Supply of dental equipment to general hospitals,
8. Respect to traditional rulers and institutions, etc.

Osunbor is a technocrat, Osunbor is known for excellence (First Nigerian to make First Class from the Faculty of Law, University of Nigeria, Rhodes Scholar) Osunbor has the experience, Osunbor is nobody's puppet, He does not support God Fatherism. My Edo Brothers and Sisters, kindly support Professor Oserheimen Osunbor for a better Edo State.
