Ironsi became head of state, because he was the most Senior at the time. And infact he instructed the coup to be quashed.

In civilised countries, that u truncated a democratically elected government is enough to dash u a forever bad name, but in Nigeria, u see people like IBB, Buhari vying for political posts after their past actions. If you believe the bold part of your post, that Aguiyi who didn't plot a coup, didn't participate but rather had power trust upon him was responsible for truncating a democratic government and then goes ahead to state that Buhari who was called upon by IBB and Abacha and co was not part of the coup that overthrew Shagari, then I don't know what other definition of HYPOCRISY that can be given.

The only thing u can accuse him of in the course of that coup was accepting to head the government that truncated the democratically elected government.
