Hello Nairalanders, I don't know if this is the right section to post this but I need your sincere contributions, advice on a career path I'm about to take. I will go straight to it:

I have been searching for a job for some months now. I applied in several startups but wasn't fortunate in getting replies from them. I recently got a job in a new generation bank and it's at their HQ in Lagos Island. I had barely stayed up to a week before I got a mail from the Nigerian Immigration Service concerning their screening exercise.
I have never been in such position to pick one, because from the look of things, I can't seem to have it both ways but I may just be wrong. I decided to list out the pros and cons of both jobs.

Bank job pros:
• Salary is close to 100k.
• Transportation is free I.e zero cost
• Positive working environment.
• Learning on the job.
• Job growth.
• Job flexibility- I will start working from home as soon as I get a good grasp handling some things, that means I may be coming to the office 3 times in 5 days. That means I'll be able to run my side hustle as well.

Bank Job cons:
• Distance from home to office is quite far. Due to Lagos traffic, I leave home by 4.45am and the office by 5pm and get home by 8-9pm.
• No job security.


Federal govt. Job pros:
• Job growth.
• Job security.
• Flexible: I can comfortably run my side hustles.
• Probably deployed to a state that isn't expensive like Lagos.

Federal govt. Job cons:
• I applied with my OND(national diploma) so I would have to start from level 6.
• Less than 60k salary for a start (from the Info I gathered).
• Probably redeployed to the Northeast of Nigeria
• Since it is just a screening exercise, there's no guarantee I'd get my appointment letter.

Please, if there are people working with the system,
I need to know how many days would the training exercise take?
What's the starting salary of an AII(Assistant inspector of Immigration)?
Can I upgrade my level now that I have my BSc, if I get the job? If yes, then how?

I seriously need your advice and answers to those questions I asked, so I can draw my conclusion from them, because the decision I will take may either make or break me. Thank you.

PS: I have just 10 days till the screening exercise and I would have to travel down to my state of origin for the exercise.

Please I need your advice and that of any other lawyer in the house about my sister's ordeal with her landlord.

My sister moved into a house she rented in 2019.
According to her, that evening the landlord started disturbing her on phone to sleep with him which she refused. After much persuasion from the man and she refused, the man turned against her and it has been a war for her.
Note that the man collected 10k from her as agreement fee but never gave her any agreement paper to sign till date.

Even though she went with her boyfriend the day she paid the house rent, all of a sudden since this year, the man insisted that the guy won't pass the night in her house any longer.

My sister runs a POS point which she started recently, but the landlord insisted she will not stay where she got a space close to the house. His reason is that he is not in good term with the family living opposite her shop. Now he is even sending people and threatening to destroy the shop of the woman who gave my sister the space to stay.

Note that his wife also take her fruit to thesame woman's shop and he doesn't have a problem with that.

Now on Monday this week, my sister's boyfriend visited her house (not to sleep over). Around 7pm the landlord came to knock on her door and asked her to tell the guy to go that it's late. According to her, she flared up and had exchange of words with the landlord. The next day, the man returned the 6 months rent she paid him barely 3 weeks ago in the presence of my dad who went to visit her and asked her verbally to vacate his house in 7days.

Her boyfriend also came to see my dad in her house to discuss his coming to my family for my sister's marriage introduction rite, but when he was leaving, the landlord started warning him never to come to the house again till my sister vacates.

Now my sister has gone to report the matter to the police and he was been invited to come yesterday but he didn't honour the invitation yet.

My sister simply wants him to serve her a proper quit notice and give her 3 months to vacate the house not the verbal one week notice. She is also asking that he should stop harassing her, her boyfriend or the woman she is staying in her shop.

Please do you think my sister has taken the right steps or is there any other thing she should do?
Was the man right in asking her boyfriend not to come to the house again? . I really need your input on this. Thanks.

Note that she reported this matter to the man who claimed to be the lawyer in charge of the house, he promised to get back to her but stopped taking her calls afterwards before she went to the police.

He has to refund you the balance before the quit notice can be effective, my landlord did exact same thing and we all ended up at the police station where he was told to refund my balance so the notice could be effective or re issue the quit notice when my rent is due. This is usually done by illiterate and greedy landlords, he gave me quit notice in July when my rent expiration was Decemb weer last year this is March and I'm still there his only prayer now is for me to move out soon as he can't do anything.

op, if i'm that girl we will meet in court. and see how you are going to waste 3 years on this matter with free rent and occupied your house till she like. by then she must be tired living in your house.

It seems you have not seen where they track tenant to new location and recover owed rents by court bailiff. My former tenant was saying same thing until his new house was located and as early as 5am court bailiff were already in his flat packing his things. Even SUV was taken. They fought the court baillif and broke ones head, that one aggravated the issue. In fact his wife, him self were locked up. Another charge was placed on them.

It is only landlord that ks not ready to face those wahala that would just forget the money so far you have vacated the property.

Oga you lie, the court will not recover shingbi. The area I live many people where taken to court and they packed out without paying a dime to the owner

Thanks for your professional advice but it's not all lawyers that know this process because if the initial lawyer has told me about this process, I wouldn't have been so disturbed as I'm right now...

you think it's so easy to make out. there are many tenant that want to pack by themselves but stock there due to many reasons. not to take of giving someone notice just like that.

I have been trying to check location but so many issue rent her fucking expensive. one need to select location, your work environment and so many other things I can't mention. at least it should be better than where you currently staying.

Please house. I have this nagging question: I have a degree in education and also work with ministry of education. In addition I have a MBA. My concerns are should I apply for a Masters direct in education or should I apply for a PGD bearing in mind that I have a 2.2 in my degree.
