Got this to say after d SF match. Nigeria national teams need to be more technical most especially d SE N SF. When t comes to world stage football, Our coaches must work on SETPIECES(taking n defending) cos setpieces wins matches. No solution is provided yet for D same prob dat affected d SE @BRAZIL-I can't even remember when last d SE scored from a deadball. That is y We need deadball specialist in our teams i mean ppl like Jay Jay, Pirlo, Messi etc. Though our Super Flying Eagles are good at dead balls(MOHAMED especially) defending dem too is as important as taking t. Bro, I've said it in one of my posts that as a footballing nation, we are way too far behind technically. We only use our physical strength and pace which mostly counts to nothing at the end.

Our footballers need to go extra mile. Our coaches need to go extra mile, our league needs to seriously step up technically as it is the foundation for our products. Same with our academies too.

To imagine we don't have a set piece taker after Jay jay, it is alarming

I hope Manu Garba keeps up with his hard work. It's not been easy getting a team of this quality

Avoiding Germany would have spelled doom for the team. The loss to Brazil shattered the confidence of the team. This team came into the tournament with the zeal to crush any opposition that came their way. Unfortunately, Brazil smashed their confidence.

The win against Korea was not convincing to show this team has what it takes to go all the way to the finals and lift the trophy. The win against Hungary instilled confidence and showed they are no more scared of any opposition. Playing Serbia with no confidence would not help them.

Coach Manu and his crew will most likely stick to his winning squad but they have to prepare to make swift changes if things are not going according to plan. Another Challenge is we have four attacking Super subs in Yahaya, Success, Nacho and Moses. With only three changes available, the crew must make accurate changes. Strictly on technical grounds.

The Germans will know where to hurt us, they are ahead of the world technically when it comes to reading games after their technological strides shown in the last World Cup. There is no room for sloppiness and laziness from the team. They must stick together at all times.

No room for errors and Enaholo should not be acrobatic or theatric in this coming game.

That is my issue with Nigerian coaches. We are still far behind our European and South American counterparts when it comes to technical, tactical and match reading abilities. Manu Garba stands out among Nigerian coaches though.

Just imagine a highly technically astute coach having the luxury of such attacking prowess. Good enough, each player has a unique individual ability which will be useful per time

I entered "ghostmode" today for a reason. Ive been bedridden for the better part of the day. However, it still didn't stop me from crawling out of the bed to watch the match.

The match was an absolute borefest with almost nothing to play for since both countries had already qualified for the next round.

That said, I will not hesitate to commend awoniyi for his brilliantly taken two goals. Dunno which to rate higher though a standing ovation must be given for what should be termed "the assist of the tournament" in the long throw by enaholo which resulted in the 2nd goal. That throw should be the longest throw I've ever seen in my over twenty-someting years of football viewing, that has resulted in a goal!

That said, I didn't enjoy the match at all (neither have I enjoyed the previous two matches either, save for the first half performance against Brazil) and if the flying eagles do not step up their gameplay a couple of notches higher than they've been showing since the beginning of this tournament, they MIGHT NOT beat Germany!

I'm not really picking bones with the players themselves but with the coaching staff. Why have we started with this new taactic of spraying 4-5 inconsequential passes among the backline and midfield pivots and the hoof the ball in the air towards the striker?!

I noticed this a lot during the African Championship but I thought its could be maybe due to lack of adequate camping time and that by the time the worldcup started, all the kinks would have been ironed out.

But to my chagrin, its still there.

I hope..*hmmm!!*...I just hope that this "new" playing pattern is just a sham so as to decieve our opponents in the later stages of the tourney of our tactical vulnerability until we show them our real hand thereby tearing their match-strategies into shreds.

Anyway.. until the next game against germany!... lemme still have hope and belief in our boys!

You read my thoughts and displayed them here. We are no longer seeing the total football philosphy.

I feel one of the reasons for that is we don't have a holding midfielder/playmaker. Idowu is the anchor man, Sokari is more of a box to box, same with Bulbwa against Hungary, ifeanyi is more or less an additional presence with no definition. Awoniyi and Godwin are the only attacking outlets we've had

This was not the same set up as we saw at U17. Let's hope for the best sha.

By the way, hope you are getting better. Please get fit soon so we can celebrate our next success

Any news on Sokari injury? I pray he will be fully fit for Germany

Bulbwa is undroppable. Saviour was very wasteful today but I think the coach will maintain this set up. I would have preferred Yahaya or Simon in place of Godwin Saviour

Against Germany Manu has no choice but to name a midfield trio of Sokari, Idowu and Ifeanyi. The front three could be Iheanacho, Awonyi and Yahaya. Success can come off the bench in the 2nd half.

And where will you place Bulbwa? It seems many did not recognize him today

The attack was very sharp against brazil but we lost, Right now, we are defending very well. We will find the right balance.

I don't think anyone should care as long as we get results.

Manu Garba should be given the kudos he deserves. This same set up will contain Germany I believe.

It is all about team work and not individual brilliance

Yeah! We need someone like Mikel of 2005, but I believe we've got one in Sokari! He just needs to play few games with the lads; to show us his qualities. Remember he wasn't part of the Team at the beginning, and he's getting to understand the philosophy of the Coach gradually too!
Let's watch out for him with Idowu shielding the Back line!

Let's hope so. The midfielders don't give accurate passes and that is why Sokari needs to step up his game in terms of passing

Brotherly! It's not an intrusion rather a very good observation! We played good football when Yahaya was introduced, though the Boys ain't under pressure at the time.
I sincerely believe the Lads can match any Team, cos they are getting their rhythm back at the moment!

We need a playmaker/holding midfielder in the mould of Xavi of Barcelona. Like the Mikel of 2005 flying eagles. No one is doing that presently and that is my only fear.

All the talk of attackers helping out in defence is because the midfield losses the ball a lot because of faulty passes. Coach Manu Garba has to get the team doing some passing drills. As for Awo, I do not know if this is the time for the coaches to drill him on finishing. I say bring in a lethal finisher and let the goals come.

Joshua Enaholo: Had little to do as
the Koreans barely troubled him but stood up well to the few balls he had to deal with, above all the clean sheet will help boost his confidence after his two howler that gifted Brazil two goals in Nigeria 2-4 loss to Brazil….6/10


Musa Mohammed: Supplied a well hit cross that was met with a powerful header from Saviour Godwin for Nigeria’s first goal, threatened with just one from the numerous free kicks he took ,still not at his best but defensively he has improved a lot but, he has the capacity to do more….6.5/10


Mustapha Abdullahi: Got forward well from his left
back role and struck a good understanding with
Saviour Godwin on the left, however his final ball
still needs work and his touch just as it was in the
first game was heavy a better showing than the last
game against Brazil….5.5/10


Wilfred Ndidi: Commanded the defense with
authority a much better understanding with
Zahradeen Bello than in the first game, although he
should have done better from set piece situations in
the opponents half due to his heading
abilities….6.5/10


Zahradeen Bello: Recovered from his poor showing
against Brazil to post a faultless performance until
he got book for a needless foul close to the centre
otherwise his partnership with Ndidi was top class
today, marked his man out of the game on the rare
occasion that Korea attacked and moved the ball to
the midfielders on time with neat passes from the
back....7/10


Akinjide Idowu: Provided what was missing in the
loss to Brazil, moved the ball with speed to the
creative men and covered up nicely for the centre
backs, a tireless runner all through the game and
played a big part in breaking up opposition play that
helped Nigeria picked up a clean sheet….7/10


Ifeanyi Ifeanyi: Played in his preferred role in front
of the defensive midfielder and put in a better shift
than when he played as the team destructive
midfielder in the first game against Brazil, also
distributed the ball better than he did in the first
game as was a pivot for Kingsley Sokari to
thrive….7/10


Kinglsley Sokari: Scored a belter that saved his
blushes after a very poor first half display and got
better and became more assertive after his goal but
his ball distribution need work as he was guilty of
gifting the opponents the ball in situations where he
could have done better with his pass….7.5/10


Bernard Bulbwa: Wasteful in the first half but all
through the game was solid defensively puts in a
shift for the team something that they missed in his
absence although he was substituted he obviously
played a big part in closing down the Koreans when
they have possession….6.5/10


Saviour Godwin: Stole the show with a brace and the man who gatecrashed Nigeria squad to the
tournament deservedly got a standing ovation when
he was substituted was Nigeria’s liveliest player in
the first half and his second half brace help sealed a
very impressive display for the Plateau United
kid….8/10


Taiwo Awoniyi: Lone man upfront in a three man
attack capped up his display with two assists with
unselfish play, proved why he is so much the coach
preferred option in attack with his clever runs
behind defender and his hold up play certainly a
better showing than in the first game….7.5/10


Substitutes:
Musa Yahaya: Almost scored with his second touch
of the game but a good save from the Korea shot
stopper prevented him from scoring his second goal in as many games didn’t do that much like he did in the first game but overall was a threat anytime he gets on the ball….5/10


Isaac Success: Surprisingly left out of the starting
lineup came on and scored his second goal of the
tournaments and Nigeria’s fourth of the game linked up well with Awoniyi for his goal and on the strength of his showing he is knocking on the door to be handed a recall….6.5/10
