You've heard about ENABLING ENVIRONMENT right?

Angels don't create enabling environment, humans do..

We are as guilty for the rot as the leaders (so called) we (s)elect.

We all know there is a problem.

It is certain that someday, people are gonna fix it.

Whether you and I would be a part of the change (tsunami or hurricane) is not so important.

God Bless Nigeria

Politics / Gaza Invasion by Israel is One Hell Of A Pin-point Operation by earthgreeners(m): 12:20am On Jul 28, 2014
I have been following the Israel Vs. Hamas offensives and defensive.

I think it's high time the Israelis withdrew from Gaza.

They should not continue to hide under the pretense of defense tactics to wipe out innocent people.

Israel should stop keeping this people in prison and lift the blockade.. Why is this a difficult task?

The indirect result of this war is a gain from groups like ISIS.

I don't think they learnt any lesson from their invasion of Lebanon (the rise of Hezbollah)

Holu26: Hello house,

Please, under d section "fund available for my study" in IMM1294, am I to put the total amount for the duration of my study or just for the 1st year oF my study.

Please help with an answer

The amount that would cover the first year of your studies

i.e School Fees + living expenses (Accommodation, food, clothing, entertainment, health etc)

Basically, living expenses is estimated at $10,000

Except you have an Official Fee Schedule from your school that indicates otherwise

Example: If your total school fees is $9,000, the amount you would fill in the form would be $19,000

And y not permanently bro? Is Nigeria not our home? God bless Nigeria!!! Now say after me everyone.."I will come back to Nigeria permanently after my program in Canada"...

Hmmn!

You wouldn't blame most people.. There is a general perception among the average Nigerian youths that the country has been damaged beyond repair. lol

But I believe there is light after the tunnel

It is most likely that I would also thread the path of the PR and get a life in Canada after my studies.

But I have refused to stop exploring opportunities back home.

In fact, I am in close connection with a committee of friends to start up a business. While I bring in the Canadian experience, they blend it with the Nigerian hustle spirit......

Who knows tomorrow?

emperoracro: I have been following this debate since morning; enlightening n educative,i must confess.
I noticed almost everyone if nt everyone's concern is knowing which gives someone a better chance of getting a gud job upon graduation; University or College? But y do we Nigerians think more of getting Jobs, rather than thinking of ways we can create Jobs, which is exactly wat Nigeria really need at dis crucial moment. I suggest we all go out there, acquire workable knowledge, come back to Nigeria (i dont mean permanently) n build up this our Nation,so as to ensure a properous future for the generations unbone. God bless Nigeria!

In seeking a better life, most young people often fail to see beyond their nose..... God Bless Nigeria, God Bless Canada too

Dnt blame agents what about those that come here to ask for schools and tell everyone their GPA.Nairaland members will still sugguest Colleges.so its the same thing.stop blaming agents.nairaland members should encourage new members to go on research.email the school ask the school questions.some schools don't take up to 2hrs to response to your questions.

Yeah..Blame the lazy bones who can't conduct a simple internet research but wanna proceed for a Masters degree.. They don't deserve a University admission either

Jijola: Note the alteration in the quote below.
On whether people opt for colleges more than Universities, I may not be able to conclude on this to avoid hasty generalization. However, the merits a College has over a University which may influence one's decision to opt for the former include but are not limited to the following:
1.More Practicum, which gives field experience as opposed to theoretic knowledge associated with University education.
2. Lenient entry requirements, though not applicable to everyone who choses a College.
3. More coop opportunities adding to work experience.
4. More technical specialisations which have better job opportunities, e.g. Welding, drilling and safety are lucrative Engineering areas whose trainings are mainly available in colleges in addition to professional trainings.
5. Colleges offer more Diploma and Certificate programmes which benefit those that want to change fields.
6. College programmes are generally shorter, hence faster 'profit' turn-over. You can start earning money asap.
7. Employers tend to favour college graduates more because the remuneration is somewhat lower than University graduates. This is why there are more openings for college products in most sectors where both sides can work.Note however that this is common only in areas where either party is eligible for the job, and it's not a research/academic one.
8. In the western world, Universities are mainly for researchers/academics while colleges are mainly for technicians and technologists. Generally, there are more industry job openings than research/academic openings.
Hope this lil input makes some clarification.

Na only number 2 be the truth..the rest na asodun

Even as though it's an open thread, i hope you don't mind if i come in.. like i'll always say, my views are never to offend anyone or to justify inappropriate deceptions. Talking about been Sentimental.. believe me it's happens here every now and then. I don't understand why people try to make this thread hierarchical in some ridiculous manner. I can vividly remember saying in this thread that No one is a superior and no one one is a subordinate, regardless of how long you've been here, how often you contribute or how authentic your contributions are. we are all humans we MUST make mistakes, which could lead to giving the wrong information, and on the contrary, don't expect what worked for me to perfectly work for you also, it all depends on certain psychological or sociocultural variables..There are two things involve in dealing with advice and suggestions; Giving or receiving advice from someone is one thing, Following or taking the advice is a total different thing which is in an individuals power to choose. It's a sad thing that it's always the new ones that gets victimize by the old ones with back ups from some others that seek special interest from a particular person..it's all logical..but we should all know that, there's noting as bad as self-deception and following the wrong trails.

Why comma come full your comment like water?

You are right though.

Politics / Omisore Shuns Osun Gubernatorial Debate by earthgreeners(m): 7:01pm On Jul 26, 2014
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the August 9 governorship election in Osun state, Iyiola Omisore, shuns a radio debate organized for the three major contending candidates in the election.

The debate which was organized by the International Republican Institute [IRI] was only attended by candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rauf Aregbesola, having all the time allotted for the “Manifesto Hour” programme to himself.

Meanwhile, Labour Party, candidate, Mr. Fatai Akinbade, sent his running mate to stand in for him but the organisers disallowed him from participating, saying the rule was that candidates would not be represented by proxies.

Organizers said they were shocked that Messrs Omisore and Akinbade failed to attend the debate.

“We wrote to them and up to 20 minutes to the beginning of the programme, they were still giving us the impression they would be attending,” said Ezenwa Nwagwu, an official of the Partners for Electoral Reform, who moderated the debate on behalf of the IRI.

“We even started the debate 45 minutes late just because we were waiting for the PDP and LP candidates to show up.”

However, Omisore disclosed through his Director of Media and Strategy, Diran Odeyemi, that he did not receive any formal letter inviting him, as claimed by the organizers.

“It was only this morning that our candidate (Mr. Omisore) received a text message reminding him of the debate and that he was being expected at the OSBC studios,” Odeyemi said.
