All customers who collect at least one of each of the 5 badge designs by the January 18th deadline will automatically qualify for a share of the prize pool and take home between N400-N6000 each.

Interestingly, users of the PalmPay app also benefit from free bank transfers, zero fees on e-wallet deposits or bill payments, and receive discounts and cashback on all airtime, bills and data purchases.

We have hundreds of thousands of customers that use the PalmPay app every day because of the value it brings to them and we look forward to welcoming more Nigerians to the PalmPay family through this promotion.”

In December, the company ran a similar campaign called the PalmPay Carnival, where over 17,000 customers won a share of 20 million Naira. The platform is known for regularly hosting special promotions on top of its regular incentives to engage its user base.

PalmPay entered the Nigerian market in September 2019 and has grown rapidly to reach a customer base of over 2 million transacting users. Over the last 6 months, the Mobile Money Operator has experienced a tenfold increase in daily transaction volume, fueled by the accelerating trend towards digital payments brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The PalmPay app enjoys rave reviews on the Google Play Store, where it has a market-leading 4.4* rating. “PalmPay is a must have for every Nigerian. It helps you save a lot on airtime with various discounts and bonuses. You can even purchase some items from there at a discounted price. God bless you PalmPay. Keep growing!”, writes 5* reviewer Victor Femi Adebayo.

2021 will see the digital and financial services platform pursue further growth of its customer base, with plans to launch several innovations into the Nigerian market. Recent initiatives include a new “Group Discounts” feature which unlocks savings of up to 30% on airtime and data for users who complete a purchase together with friends, and the launch of the sale of physical products such as electronics and cosmetics with free door to door delivery within Lagos state.

The PalmPay New Year Festival couldn’t have come at a better time for Nigerians looking for a financial windfall after celebrating the festive season. With just under a week to go until the promo ends, the countdown to transact and win is on!

PoliticsOlisa Agbakoba Writes President Buhari On "Need For New Revenue Sources" by easrael(op): 6:27pm On Oct 05, 2020
3rd October 2020

His Excellency
Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Presidential Villa,
Asokoro, FCT Abuja

Your Excellency,

THE NEED FOR NEW REVENUE SOURCES

I applaud your very early release of budget 2021 as it signals concern to reflate the economy. I note that fiscal and monetary policy is broadly harmonized but I wish fiscal policy was more expansionary. Nonetheless, there is a budget deficit of about 7 trillion naira so the big challenge is how to raise revenue. Strategic Revenue Growth Initiative of Government is very timely. There are 5 critical elements of the initiative namely: Revenue Generation, Job Creation, Economic Growth, Ease of Process and Reducing Cost of Governance and Leakages. This is necessary as Nigeria is faced with an unprecedented revenue challenge exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic and the crash in oil price. I understand the SRGI is targeted at the Department of Petroleum Resources, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Federal Inland Revenue Service, Nigerian Customs Service and Nigerian Ports Authority.

There are many opportunities to realize enormous revenue and Jobs from the services sector otherwise known as the soft economy. This is the basis of the upcoming National webinar which our firm, Olisa Agbakoba Legal is hosting with BusinessDay on the 22nd and 23rd of October 2020 to be opened by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and Chaired by Chairman of Fidelity Bank, Mr Mustapha Chike-Obi. The theme of the webinar is: “How Law can be a tool for Revenue Generation and Jobs Creation". Some of the areas we are reviewing include the Maritime Industry which is the second-largest contributor of revenue other than oil. One area of great interest that can generate revenue is the Apapa port city. A recent report by a Dutch consultancy firm, Dynanmar shows that Nigeria loses N20 billion daily at the ports, which is 7.2 trillion yearly. The second area that can also generate substantial income has to do with trade facilitation. Trade is Nigeria's second-largest contributor to GDP but it is shocking that Nigeria lacks the critical and essential tools of trade facilitation which are vessels and airlines. So legislation is proposed to introduce the Nigerian National Shipping Line (NNSL) and Air Nigeria. If our local content policy and laws are implemented in terms of trade facilitation, Nigeria can generate over N20 trillion and 10 million jobs in 5 years. The third area concerns land administration. A recent study shows that the housing inventory of Nigerian property probably exceeds $ 7 trillion but most of this is dead capital that cannot be used as collateral for financial transactions because they are not properly titled. Creating an efficient titling system by introducing a Land Use Administration Act will release a lot of revenue into the system. If it is properly done, estimates suggest it can generate N30 trillion over 5 years.

Looking at all these areas and without any serious study it shows that we are almost at N100 trillion. But with concerted deep study, it is possible to hit the N100 trillion mark. Government should explore new sources of revenue to close the budget deficit and grow the economy by enacting the Strategic Revenue Growth and Recovery Act.

Sincerely,

Dr. Olisa Agbakoba SAN

PoliticsJimi Agbaje Speaks, Says "I Remain In The Peoples Democractic Party" by easrael(op): 4:15pm On Mar 25, 2019
The Lagos State Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has said no one would force him to quit the party.

He attributed insinuations that he had dumped PDP to mischief-makers determined to soil his reputation, provoke crisis within the party and dampen the spirit of party members and his supporters.

In a statement by his Director of Media and Publicity, Felix Oboagwina, Agbaje denied jumping ship, saying, PDP remained his party.

“I have never discussed with anyone any plan to dump PDP, neither has such a prospect crossed my mind” he maintained. “There is no reason for it. It is uncalled for.”

He vowed to remain in the party, despite the campaign of calumny being waged against him in the media by a few leaders.

The PDP flag-bearer said he only on Monday released a message encouraging members to rise above the questionable defeats suffered in the last election and maintain faith in the party, and that it would be contradictory for him to suddenly turn tail and flee the same party.

“For a party that has twice accorded me the honour of running on its platform, I should be regarded as uncharitable to say I am abandoning PDP now,” Agbaje submitted.

According to him, recent vituperations in the Press and social media against his person and his role in the last election were the machinations of political featherweights and did not warrant any response.

Agbaje said: “Suffice to say that Chief Layi Ogunbambi’s claim of being denied funds as Director-General of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council in Lagos State amounted to attempting to build something on nothing. For starters, the position he lays claim gives him no locus standi as no such formal position existed in the entire campaign structure of PDP in Lagos or any of the other 35 states.”

Reacting to Ogunbanmbi's angst, Agbaje pointed out that the man who paraded himself as the DG of the Atiku/Obi Presidential Campaign Council, had his wife, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Ogunbambi, contesting as gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State against PDP on another party platform!!Serious Conflict of Interest.

"I, as the gubernatorial candidate of the party in Lagos, was Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign in Lagos. Mr. Leke Osikoya was the State Campaign Director. The national body recognised and related with us accordingly. The title of Director General was reserved for the national campaign council. If there was an Atiku/Obi Presidential Campaign it would have, at best, been a Support Group.

"Dr. Ogunbanmbi also went to the extent of stating his contributions financially and policy wise to my campaign. This is news to me. May be he should tell the world his financial contributions to my campaigns. There is no time I have ever sat with Dr. Ogunbanmbi to discuss policy issues."

Agbaje, also, shrugged off allegations he pilfered campaign funds.

"I was not given one kobo by the party or the PDP Presidential Candidate for the gubernatorial elections. We ran our campaign from beginning to end on a shoe-string budget. You cannot steal or divert what is not given," he said.

According to him, resources sent for the Presidential and National Assembly elections were disbursed as per instructions received, and the source had shown satisfaction with the exercise.

All the fuss stems from the from the fact that, contrary to the Lagos PDP tradition of sharing money to leaders, Agbaje disbursed funds direct to candidates, as instructed.

His words: "The era of taking a share of what is not ours must stop in our party. The bitterness is from those who find it difficult to believe that money can be channelled without a ‘cut’ being taken. Leaders must lead by example.”

Responding to a former Lagos PDP Chairman, Captain Tunde Shelle, who had accused him of failing to run an inclusive campaign, Agbaje accused him of approaching equity with his questionable records in office.

He said: "That this former Chairman of the party in Lagos state can accuse anyone of mismanagement of funds baffles me. He so mismanaged party funds during his tenor that he ‘forgot’ to keep money aside to pay several years’ rent for the party secretariat! Funds to run rallies in the 20 LGAs during the 2015 campaigns were not forthcoming from the party under this chairman. His ignoble role can never beforgotten. His recent statement confirms that he obviously supported another party candidate for the gubernatorial elections."

Dismissing other allegations raised against him, Agbaje pointed out that he relinquished the management of his firm, Jaykay Pharmacy Ltd. in 2005 into the post of non-executive Chairman. Notwithstanding, neither he nor the company handled any contract from any State or Federal Government. He is not a government contractor.

He also denied being a mole for APC or its National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, both of whom, he said, suffered from the butt of his campaign.

His words: "My campaigns have been very clear on where the blame of bad governance in Lagos State should lie. It baffles me how the same people I hold responsible for the bondage we find ourselves in Lagos will be funding me to sabotage my party, PDP. I have never collected a single kobo from the ruling party in Lagos State directly or indirectly nor from its leadership or representatives."

Charging Dr. Dominic with anti-party activities, Agbaje said the man confessed, at an open meeting of leaders, to having worked for another candidate at the polls.

"It is an open secret that a few party leaders took a position not to support my candidature after my victory at the party primary elections. Their song was, 'Vote Atiku in and forget Jimi Agbaje'," he recalled.

“Those party leaders who stood on the sidelines or worked against the party in the elections should not be fooled that the loss at the elections was as a result of their negative actions. They should not arrogate to themselves powers they do not have. The elections were lost due to the intimidation of people which in turn led to voter apathy such that Lagos recorded the lowest percentage turnout in the country”.

In the final analysis, it would be foolhardy for any individual or party to write off PDP as a sinking ship, especially in view of the credibility crisis and falsification of results that largely characterized the last elections in places where the party supposedly suffered defeat nationwide.

“PDP remains Nigeria and Lagos State’s best option to the perfidy, corruption and impunity characterising governance today,” Agbaje said. “We have strong hope that some of the wrongs against the party at all levels will be corrected by the tribunals. Truth will prevail.”

PoliticsTinubu Confirms That Lagosians Are In Bondage. Promises To Free Them Later. by easrael(op): 9:42pm On Dec 18, 2018
The National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised to free Lagosians from their bondage in the near future. Speaking to members of the APC at a meeting of the party's stakeholders in Ikeja on Monday, he announced that "Those who said they wanted freedom should go and learn tailoring and vulcanising and we will do freedom for them later."

The APC leader who many label as magnanimous, has been known to reward loyalists with choice appointments and have occasionally been moved to bring the rewards of governance to Lagosians while in office and through the two governors who succeeded him; Babatunde Raji Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode. His recent promise then to free Lagosians from the days of broken infrastructure, poor health care and multiple taxes and levies which many citizens of the state say hardly touches them has been received with renewed hope by many across Lagos State.

Recall that the People's Democratic Party governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje has continued to reinforce his vision to bring freedom, democracy and people-focused policies to the state in his campaigns. This recent promise by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to make Jimi Agbaje's vision a reality thus brings with it a perfect ending to the year for most Lagosians who will go about their lives assured that the ruler of Lagos will give the will of the people a chance in 2019.
