tonychristopher: WHY DO YOU PEOPLE HAVE ISSUES WITH THE CONCEPT OF ECONOMIC COLONIZATION AND EXPANSION....

BRITHISH,CHINESE AND AMERICAN ARE DOING BUSINESS IN NIGERIA DOESNT MEAN THAT NIGERIA IS FINER, BUT THERE IS MONEY TO BE MADE ABROAD AND THEY KEEP THEIR ECONOMIES AT HOME IN TACT...

YOU MUST BE FUNNY AND STUP.ID TO THINK IGBO LAND ISNT DEVELOPED..HAVE YOU BEEN TO OWERRI,ENUGU,ONITSHA,ASABA, PH ETC

YOU MUST BE DAFT...

ITS ALL ECONOMIC COLONIZATION AND CAPITAL REPARATION
Don't blame him

His reasoning is one fact why Yorubas fail in business

Imagine an Arewa(Dangote) transforming his opportunity into success and Odua(Adenuga) losing his opportunity to poorly managed debt

Rawani: Kindly list the founding members, key actors and principal officers of the two relevant political parties in Nigeria. Dangote feeds you, and his taxes grow the economy. The only 2 Nigerians on the Forbes list are northerners. The contribution of agriculture to the GDP is increasing and northerners are building Ultra-Modern Farms left, right and center. Northerners are not chestbeaters. Marry these phrases and go figure.
I appreciate the fact that Dangote made the best out of the monopoly given to him by Northern military govt

But

I pity millions of Arewas who live without hope and see suicide for Allah as the only respite out of pain

superstar1: Taxes are standardized and there is no govt in SW taxing heavily.
Sir

It is heavy even to the point of asking for radio and TV taxes when Nigerians should be encouraged to exploit information to develop themselves.

I even heard on TV late last year or early this year, that a kiosk in Ogun state pays 4000 naira as monthly tax. I asked myself that, if it is true, how much do the trader makes in a month for such an amount to be collected.

AllahCock: The French Air Force was on the side of the Chadians. They created a no fly zone inhibiting Libyan Air strikes on the Chadians on the ground.

The use of the rugged desert Toyota as a Technical was also very revolutionary as the rebels could quickly mobilize and evade Libyan Tanks coupled with the fact that the Chadian were so confident based on the fact they were always heavily d0ped out and believed in their voodoo. This made them invincible.
That is why I agreed with OP

No infrastructure no investor, no employment, increase in crime and social vices etc
Government must tax but not heavily

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram To Get War Aircraft Soon by EasternLeopard: 11:19am On Aug 27, 2014
AllahCock: Google Toyota Wars.

Boko Haram tactics are no different from that the Chadian Militia launched against Gaddafi's forces. The war was so brilliantly executed by the Chadians that Gaddafi was forced to withdraw from north Chad, a region he earlier annexed.

Most of the frontline forces used by Bokos are battle hardened veterans from this war.

As per funding you can ask, the entire northern Governors, Arewa, powerful business and political northerners andoff course the CIA.

The French air force played a vital role if I am correct

It will bring along good governance and accountability. With that, corruption is limited and progressive developments will continue to be witnessed.
US became a destination for investors in the 1900s because of low taxation

When investors/businesses do not have enough profit after tax to re-invest, economic activities become stagnant

To be frank with you guys

Heavy taxation will destroy the financial/ economic power of Odua people

IGR and GDP that do not translate to upliftment of the people out of poverty is worthless

Even those infrastructure you boast about are not accessible to low income Yorubas eg LASU school fees a month ago was 250 000 naira. It was only reversed due to 2015 election

After watching the channel 4 video,

You cant win an insurgency by indiscriminately killing your own people,
Doing that, will make an insurgent out of the people!

The video is really heart breaking! cry
The video can also be the reason why Minimah is not producing results like Ihejirika

He wants to avoid the world from seeing Nigeria as waging a genocidal war

We started this discussion from govt perspective and not individual.
Ok

If you are Osun state governor

Which people will be of more benefit to you

Wealthy Osuns or Middle Class Osuns

atlwireles: Levies can be publicly managed or a public/private management scheme. The southeast like every region, needs major infrastructures, the levies can be used to support the public funds
You trust Nigerian govt workers

To me

A good number are harden pen robbers

I can bet you that, more than half of that levy will be looted.

Instead of levying them, support their community development groups.

superstar1: It is true that the rich pays them ans i explained that with the rice. How many bags of rice can the rich buy iin a day?

Compare that with the collective buying of the middle class.

The rich pays the middle class for the owrk being done, and they distribute the money within the economy and also create more wealth for the rich and govt by paying taxes too.
Yes you are right

Be truthful

If God tells you to choose btw being a wealth man or a middle class. Which financial status do you think will favour Osun state more.?
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by EasternLeopard: 11:41pm On Aug 26, 2014
ChrisOD: Not just global, but home first, then global.
Both at the same time
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by EasternLeopard: 11:36pm On Aug 26, 2014
superstar1: I quite agree to your submission that wealth cannot go round without being created.

however, it is the middle class that distributes the wealth. Has rich has dangote is, he cannot eat a bag of rice in a day, but his employees that are the middle class can collectively, thereby transferring wealth to that rice seller. this will increase the rice seller's turnover and more gains for the farmers/importers, depending on where the seller is sourcing from. That is the real economy.

Foreign investors bring in more money into your economy to create wealth through production or services. These will make them to employ more people, that will eventually still distribute the wealth, as explained above.

This is the reason why countries with low literacy level suffer, because expatriates taht will be causing capital flight will be employed instead of the citizens of those countries.
The middle class can not eat those bags of rice if they don't earn money to buy them.

Question

Do the rich they work for pays them TRUE or FALSE.?
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by EasternLeopard: 11:24pm On Aug 26, 2014
ChrisOD: If there is a major upheaval in Nigeria requiring that Igbos forceable move back en masse to the SE, they will likely move w/out their investments. What happens to those investments?
That is why we must go global to prevent putting all our eggs into one basket
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by EasternLeopard: 11:21pm On Aug 26, 2014
superstar1: Check the value of PAYE in comparison to total tax and you will know what i am talking about.
The middle class makes money to circulate within the economy and not the rich. The rich creates the wealth.
DO not look at the absolute figure Dangote is paying in taxes. Look at it in comparison with revenue and look at the taxes of the ordibnary people paying taxes in comparison with their revenue too. you will realise Dangote is enjoying a lot of waivers and tax holidays, that is making to pay lesser tax, thereby enriching him more.
Can wealth go round if it is not created

Ok

Why do we seek for foreign investors(business men) to help develop our economy.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by EasternLeopard: 11:09pm On Aug 26, 2014
superstar1: You are wrong.

Those countries are doing well because of their strong middle class and not because of the few rich people. Why is Chinese economy the fastest growing in the world --- the strong middle class and why is Afghanistan a poor country -- their non-existent middle class.

Wipe off the middle class and you will have a country going no where and let the middle class thrive, that is the engine room of any country's propserity.

The middle class is created by govt providing policies and infrastructures, taht willl bring more investors and more employment and more IGR to govt. All those Ibrus, dangotes etc always have waivers on taxes from government. they pay virtually next to nothing or a very minute amount, in comparion with their revenue.
May I ask you

How many jobs have the middle class created or provided for their children.?

Dangote pays more tax which is a major component of IGR than 10 000 middle class people TRUE or FALSE.?

The refinery dangote plans to site in ondo state, will generate more in taxes than the tax paid by 10 000 middle class people TRUE or FALSE.?

Will you rather have a state with infrastructure and middle class, than have one without infrastructure and supposedly rich people?

As for infrastructural development, I still believe community development groups will play vital role in quickly and cheaply achieving that.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by EasternLeopard: 10:28pm On Aug 26, 2014
atlwireles: Having lived in a community, where the village built its own secondary school, town hall and village clinic. Including a small village market. The traders of Ariara failed themselves, all the billions or tens of millions, they earn daily in the market, yet they lack the common humanity to improve the surroundings. This is not a failure of government, but a failure of the traders.
Gbam

Perfect

That is why government backed community development groups must be developed

superstar1: We are talking reality here and not the usual tribalistic partisan talk.

If you want to travel that lane, I will gladly oblige you. Trust me.

However, Osun borrowing has greatly improved the state and even mover their IGR from a paltry 300mm to over a billion monthly.

I introduced the debt profile of US and Europe, for you to see the synergy between indebtedness and development.
What is development.?

How many osun people have escaped poverty and can access basic things of life.?

My friend

Development is all about people's wellbeing and not beautification of city landscape

The fastest development is achieved through people aided by their government

Pls watch this documentary

Also find out the asia men who built the first car ship train etc industries in asia and find out the impact they make

If I am to advise we Igbos, I will tell the govt to find means to encourage the creation, development and contributions of SE Rockefellars JP Morgan Dangotes Ibetos etc
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by EasternLeopard: 10:14pm On Aug 26, 2014
ChrisOD: Even, the current state of Ariaria Market in Aba https://www.nairaland.com/1874739/current-state-ariaria-international-market is a classic example of how private wealth cannot do much for the collective good. Okay, why is every trader not tarring the front of their shop in that market?
That is why I talked about community development groups

Take Aba for example

Government might do a feasibility study of how much it will cost to solve the flooding issue. Govt then tells the people the cost and encourage them to do their feasibility study.

Once the people agree to help govt solve the problem, they will jointly solve that problem.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by EasternLeopard: 10:08pm On Aug 26, 2014
superstar1: It does. It shows the buffer zone and shock ability of each state. If FGN removes allocations today, due to the oil wells drying up, your IGR will show whether you will thrive, survive, barely make ends meet or out rightly turn to detroit --- bankruptcy.

Allocation makes stealing easier for politicians. With IGR, the citizens are more concerned about how government/politicians are spending the money, because it is the sweat of the people. With asking of questions by the electorate, the system will induce better think tanks as politicians, sustainable accountability and progressive development.
Let's be frank

When govt waste money and we complain, what happens next.?
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by EasternLeopard: 10:03pm On Aug 26, 2014
superstar1: Bros it can never grow. Individuals will not provide the enabling environment and infrastructure only govt can provide. No investor will ever think of investing without any noticeable infrastructure in.place. That will translate to lesser IGR for the govt and the wave of emigration of your able bodied men to other regions that have such infrastructure, will continue and they will keep developing the economy of those regions for them by the recipient economic ventures and the accrued taxes they will pay.
Pls read my post before this post

You will see an example of how community development groups and individual re- investment supported by govt can help in infrastructural development
