achi4u: Simply put Awka was not planned from the onset or the place was forced to be a capital of Anambra state.
If govt were to start decongesting most of the houses by demolishing...where are they going to start?,almost all the building are at the edge of the major roads or street roads.

But its not too late to start the beautification.
The above is Awka of 20years ago ..you nwa Abakalili.

Go to Abakaliki your will see that elechi your crazy governor has turned everywhere into a pigery farm even the govt house grin grin

Awka is presently presently planned by the UN-HABITAT alongside Onitsha and Nnewi.

nwabumal@yahoo.:
AWKA actually is the most ugly state capital in the southeast and also among the ugliest in Nigeria. the town is unorganised with lots and lots of slumps
Maybe you should start by telling us your state of origin so that we may do a thorough analysis of both states. Probably you are talking of Awka 7-10years ago. Am a Masters student in UNIZIK, Am not a fan of Obi, but the Awka I know is wow. Awka has some of best hospitality industry as at today.

PoliticsRe: States' Public Debt Stock Is N1.8 Trillion by EASTSIDAZ:
Imo state under okorosha has borrowed over 70 Billion going by the records for his APC party where they promised him presidential running ticket.

Imo state is going down everyday while Okorosha is busy borrowing money for thiefbu APC party, thereby mortgaging the future of the state because of his personal agenda.

Even with all the loan there is nothing on the ground to show for it, all the roads has been abandoned while the contractors are heavily owed.

Ohakim could have done better. We can't wait for this hausaman pretending to be onye igbo to be swept out just like ohakim and co. This eddiot is a fraudster sucking already poor imo state dry..
PoliticsRe: APC Will Win Anambra In 2014 – Okorocha by EASTSIDAZ: 7:02pm On Feb 18, 2013
Abagworo: I suspect you are chino or all those his monikers. That Okorocha chose APC over PDP for his political ambitions does not in any way mean he has sold Imo to Yoruba or anyone. After all Ngige won senatorial seat under ACN in Anambra and I have a feeling he will emerge the APC candidate for 2014. Ngige did in 2 years what Obi has not done in 7 years and hence is loved by his people.
You must be silly for making such comment. As much as I agree that Ngige really worked in Anambra, but I still believe strongly that Obi remains among the top performing governor in Nigeria. Btw development does not begin and end with road construction which he is still doing among so many other developmental projects that has set the state as truly the light of the Nation

Abagworo: Please don't compare Rochas with Kalu. Rochas is evidently doing well in Imo State and 2ndly Rochas is not an Igbo leader. Ojukwu was never an Igbo leader and nobody will ever be an Igbo leader. Rochas is only the Governor of Imo State and speaks for himself. APGA died long ago and PDP remains a curse to Nigerians. APC is a hope for all Nigerians to take back our country without resorting to war or bloody revolution.
The above highlighted just confirmed that you were born by one riverhine wine tapper in the creeks. How dare you say that Ikemba Nnewi was never an Igbo leader. Ikemba Nnewi remains the most respected Igbos man even in death. He wss called eze Igbo gburu gburu, its a title only given to him and no other Igbo man got to that height and there will not be none other. Peter Obi is another guy that may earn such respect going by his selfless activities to the Igbo nation in the recent time. Okrocha is just a silly sellout and a political whor/e..
PoliticsRe: APC Will Win Anambra In 2014 – Okorocha by EASTSIDAZ: 6:35pm On Feb 18, 2013
Abagworo: The major news on this thread is that APGA was infilterated and was divided between pro-PDP led by Peter Obi and pro-progressive led by Victor Umeh. APGA is dead as a result of greed and personal ambitions.
My friend get your facts right, there is only one APGA and that is the one led by Peter Rock Obi. Ume was being used by okorocha as his pawn.

Obi has dealt with both of them. Okrocha is fully own his own with the ofemmanus, we are not part of any of it.
PoliticsRe: APC Will Win Anambra In 2014 – Okorocha by EASTSIDAZ: 6:24pm On Feb 18, 2013
Abagworo: I'm sure Anambrians will fight like Imolites in 2014 to defend their votes. I'm still skeptical about Abia but APC will go places in 2015 if they remain united.
Your useless apc will not come anywhere near Anambra. We will all be out to stop you silly people at River Niger. When the chips are down your okorosha will would have been thrown out from imo govt house
PoliticsRe: The Desperation Of APC by EASTSIDAZ: 6:16pm On Feb 18, 2013
Mr. Globe:
APGA is not an igbo party but it has won major elections in Abia, Anambra and Imo. dumbass
Don't you know that that ediot called abagworo is as silly as that same potbellied Okorocha his gov.

I trust Obi, he is quite an under ground mover. He does not believe in ranting like like small boy as okorosha.

Obi has removed the carpet from under their feet. Obi has earned the endearment of the entire Igbo race.
PoliticsRe: I Only Have Feeling For Niger Delta And Igbo People- Asari by EASTSIDAZ(op): 9:33pm On Feb 09, 2013
True talk..
PoliticsI Only Have Feeling For Niger Delta And Igbo People- Asari by EASTSIDAZ(op): 9:33pm On Feb 09, 2013
Ex-Niger Delta militant, Dokubo Asari, has blamed northern elites for the Boko Haram insurgency and ‘backwardness’ of the region.

In an exclusive interview with Rariya Newspaper, Mr. Asari said northerners should pray for forgiveness because they are facing the wrath of God.

“For how many years the ruling oligarchy of the north has been encouraging oppression? The people of the north are poor, they did not benefit from the years of criminal, immoral ravaging of the lands of Ogonis, Ijaws, Urhobos, Itsekiris and others. The people are watching. They are going to Dubai, London and everywhere to buy house. They are sending their children abroad. They forgot God. They forgot that there are so many children roaming the street. All these things, one day a Daniel will come to judgement. And that is it, it has come to judgement, and the people are confronting them,” he said.

“What is happening in the north is the north creates a monster, and the monster is consuming them. God is angry with the north. Let them cry to Allah for forgiveness.”

Mr. Asari said it would be difficult for a Northerner to win the 2015 presidential election as the fear of Boko Haram will prevent people in the region from coming out to vote on election day.

An Ijaw sovereign state

Mr. Asari who traced the struggle of the people of the Niger Delta to the Battle of Akasa between the British and the people of Nimbe Brass, said he is not interested in resource control for the people of the Niger Delta but for an independent Ijaw State.

“For me as an individual, I’m not involved in resources control. I believe first in what Kwame Nkrumah said: ‘‘seek ye first the political kingdom, and all other things will be added to you.’’ What I believe in is an independence of my people.

“Yes, my position is quite different from what others are fighting for. My position is an independent nation. It is an undeniable right of our people to fight for the independence of our country, which has not been extinguished because we signed a protracted treaty with Britain. We did not surrender our sovereignty to Britain to be colonised. So as far as those treaties are the 1914 amalgamation of Nigeria is illegal, null and void. So also the declaration of independence in 1960 and also the declaration of Nigeria in 1966 as a republic are also illegal,” he said.

I only care about Ijaws

The former militant who only recently criticised President Goodluck Jonathan for running an inept government said he only cares about the Ijaw people and by relation, the Igbo and other ethnic groups of the Niger Delta.

“I have always said that, I’m fighting for the independence of my people, the Ijaw people. I don’t have any feeling than the feeling of an Ijaw man. That is the truth. And the feelings of the wellbeing of Niger Delta and Igbo people, because I share blood with Igbo. I’m an Ijaw, an Igbo and a Niger Deltan. I don’t have any feeling with any other people.”

He said he has not ceased his fight for a sovereign Ijaw State but is only on “sabbatical” as it is inappropriate to fight with one’s brother (a reference to Mr. Jonathan who is from the Ijaw ethnic group as well).

He also claimed that he was not part of the amnesty deal the federal government signed with the Niger Delta militants, saying “I will not use my hand to trade away my freedom.”

Dialogue with Boko Haram

Mr. Asari, who claimed he spent time in prison with some leaders of the Islamist sect, Boko Haram, said the only way out of the insurgency is through dialogue.

“From the very beginning I was one of those people who asked the government to dialogue with them. I was in prison with some of them. I was with Mohammed Ashafa at Kuje prison; I was in SSS underground prison with Mohammed Isa, Hussain and Yusuf, Murtada and others. Late Mohammed Yusuf left SSS underground prison few days before I was put in there. Dialogue is the only solution. As far as I’m concerned, both government and Boko Haram cannot win this war. The bloodshed should be stopped. It will not remove anything from the part of government of President Jonathan to dialogue with this people,” he said.

Nightshift: I'm certainly not interested in going into unnecessary argument with you. You seem to lack simple understanding of written words. Even to understand simple Igbo i wrote is somewhat missing in you. Besides , some Igbo towns and villages have animal names - does Nnewi ring a bell in your ears? So also Nkanu?

OK lets go back to the economic importance of Mall in our major cities..of Lagos, Enugu, Onitsha, Abuja and Port Harcourt

Nkanu? Name of animal or a place? grin grin

Btw, you ediots don't want to see any good thing elsewhere, if not what prompted you to use this phrase 'center of confusion as lagos' and nwaonye igbo enwetago ife oma', as if Onitsha and Anambra people in general have not been the master of many 'firsts' as far Nigeria is concerned..

PoliticsShoprite Enters Anambra As Obi Lays Foundation For $30m Mall by EASTSIDAZ(op): 11:11pm On Feb 08, 2013
South African retail chain, Shoprite has entered Anambra State in South East, Nigeria as it moves to open for business in many parts of the state, beginning with Onitsha, the state’s commercial capital.

Anambra is the fourth state Shoprite is opening shop in after Lagos, Kwara and Enugu.

Peter Obi, the Anambra State governor, laid the foundation in Onitsha recently for the construction of the shopping mall that is estimated to cost about $30 million.

The mall which will be sitting on 15,000 squares of land will be located beside the Onitsha Hotel and Convention Centre with enough space for the level of commercial activities the mall will expectedly attract.

Shoprite is expected to serve as the anchor tenant in the mall.

The project, according to a source close to the state government, is a joint venture between African Capital Alliance, a private equity firm, and the state government under the public private partnership (PPP) arrangement.

Governor Obi explained that the project was in line with his commitment to the transformation of Anambra State, which, according to him, included returning Onitsha to its past glory as the number one commercial city in Nigeria, hosting the biggest market in West Africa.

The Governor promised to provide facilities to boost activities in the area, including dualisation of Park Road, the entrance into the complex.

Obi said that the foundation for two of such malls would also be laid in Awka and Nnewi.
Laptop dogs are obviously scared of APC. Look at their comments!

Rochas is the most famous member of APGA, so him joining APC is all that matters. The people in his faction will come with him.

Imagine CPC said it wanted to stay independent after Buhari leaves. It would just be noise, because Buhari IS the CPC, just like Rochas IS the APGA.
Taaaa.mechie onu..

Who is Roches and what is his pedigree. If not for Ojukwu's influence and support of Obi, ohakim would have beat him in 2011.

FYI: Ikemba handed the mantle of APGA to Peter Obi..so presently Obi is the embodiment of APGA. He is the only piller in APGA that is respected all over and not mad dog called Roches. Obi is a silent achiever who does not make noise like Roches.
