PoliticsRe: 90% Of Cash Transactions In Only 5 Cities-CBN by EASTSIDAZ: 11:30pm On Feb 07, 2013
Below is the interview granted by the GMD of Orient Petroleum

"[b]THERE'S TALK ABOUT AN AIRPORT PROJECT THERE. CAN YOU ELUCIDATE ON THAT?

Yes, there will be an airport. I spoke about Orient Petroleum Resources PLC being a holding company. The holding company has four subsidiaries. One subsidiary is the refining of petro-chemical component which is going to operate the refinery; the second is the one that is about producing oil and gas; that is called the exploration and production subsidiary. Then we have a subsidiary which is gas and power which is supplying gas to Nkalagu cement, to breweries at 9th Mile, and possibly to this SABmiller Brewery in Onitsha. The final one is the infrastructure and services which will look after the airport and other infrastructure like housing and so on which will support the operations of the other three subsidiaries.

So the vision was that Orient will be a vertically integrated company. It derives its own raw materials, sells its products; provides its services. The airport was supposed to provide an outlet for aviation kerosene which is one of the products of the refinery. So planes will land there and load with aviation kerosene. That's the aviation fuel (ATK). So there will be a pipeline that takes aviation kero there; the aircraft will load and we can be selling aviation kero to Kano International Airport, to Lagos, even to Ghana and other places right from that point. So the airport itself is to provide an outlet for aviation kero and also it will provide a quick source of spares. Let's say you need something in the refinery, you fly it in. So we do have licence from the federal government to set up an international cargo airport to fly in materials there. This airport is located in about 1,200 hectares of land in Ifite Umuleri. It's already surveyed and work will start very soon now that we have income from the oil production.

SO HOW SOON DO YOU RECKON THE AIRPORT WILL BE READY?

The airport will be constructed in phases just like the refinery. The first phase will be the runway and the cargo shed. Those ones could be done in 18 months and then the next phase will be the second runway so that it will be like Abuja which is getting the second runway. Lagos already has two runways. So we're looking far ahead. These runways are of international standard; the ICAO standard (International Civil Aviation Authority).

They're long enough to take a Boeing 747 cargo. The biggest jumbo jet can land in the airport; that's why it's so long; 1,300 hectares and the runway is about 4 kilometres. It's longer than Enugu and Asaba airports. It's again futuristic to make sure that in 20 years to come it will still be serving us.

SO IT WILL BE STRICTLY A CARGO AIRPORT AND NOT FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES?

Not quite. The licence is for international cargo and domestic passengers. So you can have passengers who are inside Nigeria. It's not international passenger; it can't take off from there and fly to London; no, but I can bring in materials from outside the country and fly materials out of the country; that's cargo, but the airport itself can operate as a domestic airport. It will have a runway and a terminal building. The one in Enugu is international passenger airport but this one is international cargo.

Afam4eva: These cities are still growing...They don't need to merge with other cities to achieve that. What they need to do is to develop beyond their limits into smaller towns and villages like PH has done but in a more structured way.
You are on point. Onitsha needs an International airport. I read somewhere that Orient Petroleum in conjunction with Anambra state govt is about start an Int'l cargo airport around Otuocha area- an outskirt of Onitsha.

Lagos will def. gonna feel the shock of Onitsha Port. Investors and importers/exporters in Onitsha are already waiting to tap from the Port facility and people of South-East and beyond will now import directly through the city of Onitsha. Good work cheesy

PoliticsObi Describes Africa As A Virgin Land For Investment by EASTSIDAZ(op): 11:29pm On Feb 03, 2013
The Visiting Canadian Minister of International Trade, Hon. Ed Fast (middle), flanked by Gov. Obi (right) and the Canadian High Commissioner, HE, Chris Cooter (left) at the Canadian High Commission, Abuja, yesterday

Gov. Peter Obi has described Africa as a virgin land for investment in almost all the sectors of human interest, ranging from ITC to Agriculture, he said this at the Canadian High Commission in Abuja during the meeting with the visiting Canadian Minister of International Trade, Hon. Ed Fast.
Gov. Obi, who explained about Nigeria to the visiting Minister, said that the perception of the country by the outside world is far worse than the realities on ground.

He said though things were bad in the past, but that the country, under the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan was making significant progress in all areas. “President Jonathan took over the reins of government when things had already gone bad, he is striving to correct the anomalies and I can tell you that he is succeeding. The opposition he has today is the by-product of any reform movement, whereby those that benefited from the past being reformed are fighting back.”
He assured the Minister that Nigeria is a place that ensures return on investment due to its large market. He also told him about the availability of one natural resources or another largely unexploited in all the States of the federation.

He specifically introduced the Minister to Anambra State , explaining to him the opportunities in the State for investment and trade. “The South-East, which Anambra belongs to boosts of the highest concentration of entrepreneurial people in sub-saharam Africa. Nnewi in Anambra State is the leading industrial town in the country. It is the only place where motor vehicles are manufactured, I mean manufactured, not assembled in the country. The people of the State are ingenious and have the capacity to market products everywhere in the world. Investing among such people is always an instant success as with SABMiller that started operations a few months ago in Anambra State.”

The visiting Minister had earlier said that Canada was interested in increasing the volume of trade in Nigeria and investing in the country in the areas of ICT, Health, Education, Oil and gas.
The Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, HE, Chris Cooter said in inviting Obi to be one of those to hold meeting with the Minister, that he was convinced of his commitment to Nigeria and to his people of Anambra.

The event was witnessed by the Nigerian Ambassador to Canada, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, the Minister of the federal Capital territory, Sen. Bala Mohammed, Hon. Chris Azubogu, The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Uju Okonkwo, among others.

PoliticsRe: Who Are The Top 5 Performing Governors In Nigeria? by EASTSIDAZ: 10:35pm On Feb 03, 2013
cooltone: 1. Chubuike Amechi Rivers state
2. Rochas Okorocha Imo state
3. Babatunde Fashola
4. Sule lamido
5. Adams Oshomole

Amechi carries the day because he has met all the index of political development especially education, health care and lastly infrastructure. Rochas comes second for working with very little resources available to him. Fashola comes third for transforming Lagos state and building a strong revenue base internally. Sule Lamido and Oshomole are likewise doing fantastic with their available resources.
Others maybe be acceptable for now.

PoliticsRe: What Is Imo State Best Known For? by EASTSIDAZ: 9:53pm On Jan 23, 2013
Abagworo: In case you don't know, Owerri is bigger than Onitsha in landmass. Google earth is accessible by all to verify. The largest city in the Southeast is Enugu closely followed by Aba. Owerri takes before Onitsha. Orlu today is more developed than Awka. Ihiala is a roadside town like Mgbidi, Uli or Awo or Anara or Amaraku or Elele or Igwruta.
Owerri has the same landmass as Ekwulobia.

Presently Nnewi is far far developed and economically viable than your Owerri. Orlu is is equivalent but not as developed as Oko and Uga. There is practically nothing happening in Owerri its a ghost and shadow of itself.

Awka is a quiet, serene city preferable for relaxation and hospitality. Onitsha is the economic hub of SE/SS. Nnewi is the Japan of Africa and the only African city that manufactures vehicle.
PoliticsRe: What Is Imo State Best Known For? by EASTSIDAZ: 9:40pm On Jan 23, 2013
Abagworo: There's no need to pretend. The most liveable towns in the Southeast are Enugu, Owerri and Umuahia. The most viable town is Aba. The most beautiful rural town is Abiriba. The State with the highest number of heavy weights is between Abia and Anambra with Abia having a clear edge through the military angle. The most populous State is Anambra. The most influential clan in Igbo history is Arochukwu. The most bubbling city is Owerri. The pharmaceutical market is Orlu. The spare parts and transport is Anambra. The agriculture is Enugu and Ebonyi. The warriors are in Northern Abia and Ebonyi. Football is Aba.
Shattaaap imbeci1ic animal..

You forgot to mention that your owerre is a single town with 75% of its population p/r/o/s/t/i/t/u/t/e/s. grin grin

Harlotry Owerre is livable? Hmmmmm why is your 2/3 population living in Anambra state precisely Onitsha, earning their living and giving birth to their children their..?

Below are the most liveable, serene SE cities: Enugu, Awka, Asaba, Abakaliki.
PoliticsRe: What Is Imo State Best Known For? by EASTSIDAZ: 9:35pm On Jan 23, 2013
@ Everpoor, grin grin grin grin

You really Amaze me, now let me school you. Anambra is the standard for measuring everything in SE and Nigeria at large, because Anambra produced the best and brightest Nigeria knows about the Igbos.

Owerre in simple term is a rural state capital with nothing in it except for human trafficking, homosexual and above all commercial sex hawkers who are not being exported to other states as finished product. Imo state is about 95% rural with timid and prostitution infested owerri left with 5%. Because of age long otokoto, ritual killing, kidnapping and arm robbery there is no single imo elite living in imo state. They have all run to the neighboring state of Anambea, where they are now living freely and earning a living in the great city of Onitsha.

Anambra has three cities of Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi and recently Ekwulobia and Ihilla. But apart from your harlotry Owerre which is not up to the size of Ekwulobia, mention another town in imo state that can compete with little Ihialla??

You ediots are living in denial, very soon Obi will send all of you ingrate parking from Anambra state

One of your sons caused the civil war but when the heat became unbearable you people chickened out and abandoned the people of old Imo, Zik ran away and teamed up with Nigeria while Asika lobbied to be made gov of east central state! While old Imo were busy fighting galantly and dying in the fronts, you saboteurs were busy engaging in attack trade, chai see cowardice laced with greed! To be continued......,

Common shatttaaap...Owerre is the least developed state capital in Nigeria. The only investment in owerre and imo state is prostitution, kidnapping and arm robbery. No wonder kidnapping is thriving in imo state because nothing is happening there. 2/3 of imo indigenes are living and earning a living in Anambra state. I ask you, have you seen a single Anambra family living in you dongeon called imo state??

Metalgoong:
We all know were those people come from. They all are the indigenes of Imo state where there is no viable business except hotels built for the thriving prostitution industry in that state.
Yes, Nigerians know them! Why should they forget the Imo state OTOKOTO in a hurry? We all know that OTokoto started because lazy Imolites wanna measure up to hardworking men and women of Anambra state. It is not the fault of Anambrarians that they have excess money to contribute towards the development of any state they live. It is the Lords doing! smiley
I know you are just being jealous wink, Anambra state has a glorified international market as you called it, but you forgot that Imo state doesn't have any. . . You forgot that the majority of lazy Imo state indigenes make their living ( mixing colored kai kai )in and around this same glorified INTERNATIONAL MARKET in Anambra state .
Well, it shows that Anambrarians are not cowards. Those guys cant abandon the business empire they built with their hard earned money, unlike lazy Imoltes who dont know a thing about handwork and money making! smiley It is this Anambra spirit that makes them more successful and prosperous than you lazy folks.
The facts and figure are there for you. Where were you dummies when Anambra state was producing the Ojukwus,Ziks,Okadigbos, Ekwuemes, Orizus, Soludos, Metalgoongs grin etc. My friend, the joke is on you. grin

Ofcos there is nothing to compare with Anambra, because Anambra is light years ahead of your dirty ridden and state governed by non-entity. Abia is the least on the table in the SE. deal wit it
PoliticsRe: What Is Imo State Best Known For? by EASTSIDAZ:
Abagworo: Apart from Orlu people who are same with some Anambra like Ihiala and South of Nnewi, tell me of any other clan in Imo State you'll find in Anambra. By the way why are you guys obsessed with Abia?

Awka — About 500 indigenes of Anambra State who were sacked from Abia State, besieged the Government House, Awka, over the death of 19 of their colleagues as a result of the termination of their appointments.

They were received by the deputy governor, Emeka Sibeudu. Earlier, the spokesperson of the group, Mrs. Rose Okafor, who was a director in the Abia State civil service said their condition has worsened, as they no longer have any means of livelihood.

"The Abia State government served us the disengagement letter in September 2011, and by October 1, 2011, they stopped us from working. We have not received salaries for 8 months. Landlords have ejected us from our houses, we cannot pay our children school fees, nor assist our families in any way," she said.

Another former director, Chief Ikechukwu Muomah said the Anambra State government invited workers disengaged from Abia for verification at the office of the Head of Service in December last year, but that till date, nothing has been heard from them.

"We expected representatives of the Anambra State government to approach and dialogue with Governor Orji of Abia State to reinstate us," he said.

OMG! They even had to die because they can't stand the red earthed, erosion ridden over-crowded village. Abia people I hail o!. You guys have tried accomodating these refugees. Now tell me of any Abian in Anambra.
grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Silly Abagoro, Anambra people did not go to Abia in the first place to live because they like the place, they got there in the first place thru civil service that originated from the time of old Anambra state and old imo state. It even affected all the SE states. Presently there are good number of other state indigenes working in civil service in Awka, but Obi do not want to behave senile and silly like TA Orji.

You have suddenly denied orlu people where roaches came from..? What a human you can be. Infact let me tell you, we Anambra has not connection whatsoever with you ashawo people. Very soon we go send all of una packing.. grin

Its still shocking me to the marrow that their no single Anambran living in imo state? This is serious, that means its unlivable and can only be habitable harlots and kidnappers grin grin
PoliticsRe: Anambra Vs Abia. Which Is More Organized? by EASTSIDAZ: 8:18pm On Jan 23, 2013
abagoro: This thread has been idle. Its time for us to list the prominent men from these States and compare. We already know that Umuahia is more developed than Awka and Aba is bigger and more industrialized than Onitsha and the entire Anambra State.

I've been reading where many people claim Anambra has produced more great people in Igboland so let us compare. To Start with both have produced President and vice Viz Azikiwe-Ironsi and Ekwueme-Ukiwe. Both have also produced Eastern region Premier. So Anambrians list your so-called great men let me list that of Abia.

NB Onitsha people are not Anambra people in ideology and life style. They are more like other Igbos as they believe in education and good life. I therefore subtract Zik and Ukpabi Asika to start with.
Fvck you ass/hole..Ebonyi is far more oganised than imo state.

Anambra is the beginning and end of Alaigbo. Awka is far far better organised with modern edifices and government presense than umahhia can only be compared to Ekwulobia or better still Nnewi.

Then in the case of Aba, it has no equals in Nigeria because it is the dirtiest and most disorganised town in west africa. Onitsha is the economic hub of SE/SS of Nigeria. Onitsha city is the fastest developing city in west africa.

http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2010/aug/02/national-02-08-2010-019.htm

Abia has not seen any govt presense nor any investor in the last 20yrs. In the case of Anambra, it is witnessing constant trooping of investors in the city of Onitsha. With multinational taking positions in the state and employing our people.

Lest I forget the biggest investment in imo state is p/r/o/s/t/i/t/u/t/i/o/n, its truth but it pains grin grin
