If you’ve been with my website, you may have noticed that i haven’t been writing articles for a long time now. I think it’s been about 10days now since i dropped something in here. This is due to the fact that i was kinda busy with school stuff, my Industrial Training, which i came back from some days ago and i’m so glad i’m about sharing with you how i spent over 7 hours on an hour journey

I’m still in school and have got lots of exams to write before the year comes to an end. I may be off and on because I’ve got to read my books. Lets begin!

My journey back to Benin city from Sapele, Delta state was a long one full of stress. The drive is about an hour because it’s between two states which are very close. I left my I.T environment at about 12pm with a 14 sitter dead white Mitsubishi bus. We were actually 14 inside the bus so we really had no issues sitting down. We did sit down after the driver had finished arranging our boxes all over the poor bus. Common, we were 14 and we had a lot to take back home.

Most boxes were tied on top the bus, others alongside bags and buckets were at the boot. The load was just too much, but we moved anyway.

We were barely 2 kilometers into the journey, the driver didn’t notice a bad spot on time, when he finally noticed, he went for his brakes so hard and some of the boxes upstairs rolled down, my box was among and i lost the small compartment because the driver used my padlock as a hook for others. This got me so mad, the clothes on that compartment were on the floor, so i took everything to the main compartment, our boxes arranged back, threw my madness away and we moved on.

1 kilometer into our new journey, the driver said in Pigin “my fan belt don cut”, like he wasn’t surprised at all. I wanted to cry. lucky for everyone, we were just at a mechanic shop when it happened. we all came down as he went to get new belt for fixing.

Oga came back with fan belt, after the mechanic tried it, it was the wrong one. We were all like “why didn’t you take the bad one with you to get another one”. He didn’t answer nobody and went for another fan belt. At this time, we had nothing to do, we were just waiting.
There was a football inside the bus which belonged to one of the guys. Yemi was like “Jite let’s play football“. the idea wasn’t a bad one and that was how we started playing football at the mechanic shop while waiting for oga driver.

We were tired of playing football, we could see heavy rain coming from the clouds, we called the driver and oga said he was in Benin… like seriously you’re at our destination… All in the name of looking for the right fan belt. We were shocked. The guy talking with the driver on phone was the right person for the job., he didn’t shout at the driver as he said shouting won’t change anything and he wasn’t wrong.

The cloud was full of rain and heavy rain started to fall. We saw this coming and quickly moved our boxes from upstairs to inside the bus and pushed the bus away from the road side before the rain started falling. The heavy rain continued as we were under a roof at the mechanic shop still waiting for our driver and the fan belt, girls started playing scrabble. As at this period, the time was about 15 minutes to 4 o’clock. Yea we’ve spent more than 3 hours already.

When you see beans here, am definitely talking about that particular type consumed by Africans. When I went online to check for beans, I saw lots of varieties, with different colours and I’m like… we know just two of em here. That aside, I’m going to take you guys through the different foods to eat with beans.

You may be tired of eating only beans, or maybe tired of eating it with just one type of food. Then again, maybe you’ve forgotten about the rest combinations you can have with it.

We’ve got you covered.. let’s take a look at the different foods to eat with beans.

1. Beans with Dodo

This is actually one of my favourite. Will be enjoyed more when served hot. Dodo is actually fried plantain (ripe).

Some persons prefer to just drop those plantain into the boiling beans rather than frying it. You know plantain is sweet, so when mixed with your beans, you know what to expect

Any how you want it, fried or cooked with beans, will still give the taste you want.

2. Beans with Yam

I still have a scar on my left thumb which I got from a knife cut while peeling yam to fry. And the thing is I enjoyed eating the already fried ones while am still frying others.

When you combine hot beans with fried yam… I’ll leave that for Nigerians to talk on….

Just like plantain, you can also drop your already peeled and sliced yam into your cooking beans, and it will go just fine.

3. Bean cake (Akara) with Pap (Akamu)

Bean cake is simply grounded fried beans while Akamu is gotten from grounded corn.

This combination is perfect and always makes you want to drink plenty of water, which is good.

Normally take this on Sunday mornings when I’m at home with mum. Have never made it in school because the process is kinda long and hard. So it’s been months now since I took this�☹.

When shells will ѕоftеn, аdd оnе dесilitеr оf hоt milk. Cоnѕumе thiѕ mixturе 2 times a dау оn аn empty stomach in the mоrning аnd bеfоrе bеdtimе in thе еvеning

Tomato is a vegetable locally produced and highly consumed in Uganda. Almost on a daily basis every person has to eat a tomato in their food. In this article, we will all be going through all you need to know concerning the tomato farm.

Common Tomato Varieties Grown

The choice of a Tomato cultivar is based on fruit quality, adaptability and reliability, susceptibility to diseases and pests.

The varieties of the tomato farm include – Money maker, Rio Grande, Tengeru 97, Asila F1, Chantan F1, Anja F1, Star and many more others

It’s advisable to go for a hybrid seed for commercial farmers since these seeds are high yielding, resistant to diseases and produce durable fruits.

Tomato Growing Requirements

Tomatoes give good results when grown in well managed sandy loams and heavy clay loam free of hard pan.

Best results are obtained in deep, well drained loams. The soil should be rich in organic matter and plant nutrients, with a pH value of 6 to7.

Propagation of Tomatoes

Tomatoes are best brought up using seeds. However you can also use cuttings from mature plants to get more seedlings

Nursery Preparation

You can Broadcast the seeds on your raised bed and lightly cover with soil.

You can also do create shallow lines using your finger and place the seeds there, then cover with little soil.

Transplanting

In one acre, you plant over 8000 plants with a spacing of 2*2ft.
Seedlings are usually ready for transplanting 2-3weeks after sowing, and they must be transplanted on moist soil.
At transplanting you may use a fertilizer like DAP (diammonium phosphate) place a few granules in the hole, Cover with some soil, then plant your seedling.
You can also use farm yard manure, you apply 2hand fulls in each hole, mix it with soil and transplant.

Management

Fertilization; Tomatoes are heavy feeders of plant nutrients including nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The plant responds well to organic fertilizers too.

After 1 month from planting, you have to start applying folliar fertilizers like Vegimax to boost the growth of the crop.

Weed control

Weed control is done best mechanically with your mechanical hoe.

Rice and pap go well die

I have stayed with friends, am currently in a school hostel, and I have seen weird food combinations eaten by my roommates, and others by friends I have around.

We kinda had a discussion about this topic some hours ago and I felt like writing about this.

Some people do actually combine some food that normally do not match and don’t die after eating.

Some look nice to eat, while others aren’t cool to eat at all. And most times, we do these combinations for the fun of it and others times, to add to the quantity of the food we are eating.

I really don’t know if I can get photos to throw more light on some weird food combinations I will be sharing with you guys.

Rice with Papaya (mixed)

Looks very good, and may taste really good, I don’t know. It’s a good combo if carbs and vitamins.

A lot of persons have eaten this combination. Does it taste good?… I really do not know. Maybe I’ll try it someday.

My roommate took this meal some weeks ago, and I was so scared to join him. I just felt something will happen to me if I take the food.

He didn’t die after eating it, and he kept on saying “come try some, it’s really nice”. Bro.. am not trying shit.

Spaghetti with Kidney Beans

I have tried this one, and it is really nice. It kinda have similar taste with when you’re eating rice with kidney beans.

It’s a nice combo of carbs with protein, and its something you should try.

Rice with boiled yam
The Chinese call it yam rice, but in Africa, most persons find eating this combination weird.

During our discussion, I asked a lady “what about rice and yam, have you tried it?” And her response was “you’ll kill yourself someday”.

I think you should try the Chinese yam rice. It will be more better than just adding your boiled yam to your already cooked rice. Though this was what I ate, and it wasn’t bad. Just that I was drinking a lot of water.

For me, preservation means preserving the future. He is one of the successful ones. Speaking of savings, I do not mean just money. You save time, relationships and everything you can add.

Saying that you want to succeed without saving money is like going to an unprepared interview. Saving is never an old school. He will help and continue to help people succeed.

Sometimes life problems are resolved faster if we can use what we’ve saved. For those who save, you need to know that they are never poor.

Getting birds from reliable source

A lot of people make this mistake in poultry production. They get their birds from anywhere.

All they see is the profit they are going to get from rearing birds. But it shouldn’t be like that.

I believe you don’t want to get your birds, then after a week some are already having diseases that will definitely spread of you don’t take care of them.

To prevent this from happening, you should get your birds from registered sources, sources that keep records of all what they do in the farm.

By doing so, you can easily give complaints about the birds, if they aren’t doing well.

Then agai n in getting birds from a reliable source, you should ask questions from those that have gotten theirs already, and those you’ve seen positive results from. It will also help

Preparation of brooder before arrival of day old chicks


You will definitely need to prepare your poultry house before the arrival of the chicks. This is to prevent anything that may be of harm to your birds.

Some insects pest may still be around, you may find rats in the poultry house, and you know big rats can really deal with your chicks.

Clearing of bushes if there is any around your poultry house is also very necessary.
