Going to the farm to work?, you’ll definitely need some good food to keep you up and running while working in the farm. So we will be going through some good foods to eat before going to the farm.

While working in the farm, you’ll burns lots of glucose, and if you don’t have enough of it to keep you up till you’re done, you may just breakdown while working.

So for the farm, you need food rich in carbohydrates, some touch of protein and other food classes.

You can choose to eat something light if you’re going to visit the farm and not to work. But if you’re going there for serious business, you need to go heavy, not too heavy but with something.

Just make sure your food is balanced, but let it be more of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. I will be taking you through some African meals and some from other parts of the world that can keep you through your farm work.

Pounded Yam with Egusi soup


It is majorly found in West African countries tries, and some African restaurants around the world. Pounded yam (boiled and pounded) is gotten from your normal white yam, while Egusi soup is from melon seed.

I personally don’t like taking this for breakfast, but it is rich in carbohydrates, fats and protein.

After you’re done eating, wash the food down with cold water, and you’ve just gotten yourself a very good meal for farmwork.

White rice with egg stew


You all know rice contains some good carbohydrates and of course your egg stew, which is a very good source of protein, which will be so perfect for farm work.

But for me I like taking this meal for lunch, after a long day at school, I just take it and have some good sleep.

Toasted bread, egg with tea


This combination is very good for breakfast, and will also help you with farm work.

There were times where I actually took this every morning before going to school. It always made me useless (felt very weak and wanting to sleep). Maybe it was because I never used it for work.

Back when I didn't have a cellphone & all I had was just a boyfriend The relationship was semi-long distance, so due to the fact that he had no way of contacting me, that meant I had to do all the calling. I spent a lot of my pocket money on those calls, using a public phone.
So anyway, I started noticing that some days he didn't take my calls & when he did, he sounded shady. On the very last call I made to him, he literally whispered down the line & rushed the conversation as if he couldn't wait for it to end. That was a wake up call for me. I knew from that moment, without a shadow of doubt, that he was probably seeing someone else. OK. I ended the call nicely, but in my heart I knew that was the last call he'll ever get from me & I kept my word.

Fastfoward to nearly a year later, I was back in our hometown for the holidays. I knew he was probably spending his holidays with extended family in another town, that's what he usually did, so I had no fear of bumping into him. I don't know how he knew I was in town, but nonetheless he showed up, having spent hours on the road just to iron the issue out. That was the 1st surprise because one, I never thought he cared that much & two, he was stingy It costs money to travel between the two towns. The reason for the visit, he wanted to apologize for cheating on me. Yes, cheating on me, so I didn't jump the gun after all! He admitted everything, even things I wasn't aware of. That was the 2nd surprise. He laid it all bare. His honesty was astounding, I almost took him back.

Assets in agricultural production are the items or farm produce an agricultural firm own from growing of crops and rearing of animals.

They add value to the firm and increase the equity of that firm.

For example, if you own a pig farm, your pigs are your assets, because you will definitely get different produce or finished products from rearing pigs.

Cash (income)
Piglets
Pork
Housing
The feed inventories
The land where the farm is practised
The vehicles for farm activities
Machinery and equipments, etc.
When it comes to assets in terms of crop production, let’s say a rice farm, you will be talking about

the land involved in cultivating the rice, cause you can definitely use it for other things,
your final produce(after harvest)
Income after sales, etc.
So generally, assets in one way or the other helps with the growth of the farm, it increases farm inputs.



Liabilities in agricultural production are what you owe as a farmer relating to your farm, It was once said and we all know that liabilities are income suckers.

They kind of decrease the value of your farm. One thing you should prevent as a farmer is to make sure that your liabilities are not more than your assets.

If the liabilities of your farm are more than your assets, you may just go out of business.

In one way or the other, we are going to enter a farm someday, unlike farmers like me who visit the farm frequently. Be it a poultry farm, piggery, rabbittery, etc. You need to be on the safety kits needed for the farm.

There are some farms you can easily go in with your normal wears and there will be no big deal. Though you are suppose to be kitted before entering any farm at all.

You can stroll into a snail farm and stroll out. But when it comes to like going into an oil palm plantation, you need to be properly kitted to prevent yourself from thorns, the wild etc.

So let’s go through some safety kits needed for the farm. And know something that these kits vary based on the type of farm you’re going to. But am just going to generalise everything

Farm Coat/Jacket


Apart from your normal clothes, it is very necessary to put farm jackets or coats on. It’s mostly green, but you can wear something else that can cover you up, make sure it is sleeve-like.

So most times we wear our coat/jacket to the farm so as to prevent direct contact of any farm material to our skin.

Poultry droppings may just touch you, you may get in contact with grasses, insects and others. So to prevent these from having direct contact with you, you put on your farm coat.

And you should know that your farm coat shouldn’t be used outside the farm.

Farm boots or safety boots


Others use some as rain boots, and it’s also needed when you’re in the farm. They are of different types.

As you can see from the photo, it will definitely help you against reptiles, sharp substances that can easily damage your foot.

And I strongly believe you don’t wanna use your Jumpman, or that Adidas in the farm environment, so the farm boots.

Farm Gloves


So will definitely need this for carrying out work in the farm environment.

The gloves shouldn’t leave your hands except you’re done with work in the farm.

You can wear any type of glove, in as much you’re comfortable with it while working in the farm.
