Agriculture / Number Of U.S. Farms Decline 3% In Five Years by Easymoney00101(m): 8:16am On Feb 26, 2020
Based on a midyear survey, the USDA estimates there were 2.023 million farms in the nation in 2019, a tiny U.S. farms decline of 5,800 farms from the previous year. The change is more dramatic when the time frame is widened — there are 3% less farms now than there were in 2014, and the amount of farmland, 897.4 million acres, or 1.4 million square miles, fell by 1.3% during that five-year period.

The USDA says that five-year period saw an increase of 400 farms in the middle of its six-tier typology, for a total of 224,000 farms with sales of $100,000 to $500,000 a year. During the same period, the number of both small and larger U.S. farms decline. Since 1974, a farm has been defined as a place that produces crops or livestock worth at least $1,000 in sales, even if it doesn’t market them.

While a quarter of U.S. farmland is operated by the 4% of farms with more than $1 million a year in sales, half of U.S. farms sell less than $10,000 a year in products. Further, half of those small farms are so-called point farms that don’t report annual sales exceeding $1,000. The smallest ones are an average of 81 acres, while the largest farms, those with more than $1 million in sales, average 2,910 acres.

Farm numbers peaked at 6.8 million in 1935 during the Depression. Numbers declined sharply for the next four decades as mechanization, hybrid seeds, and the introduction of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers allowed farmers to operate more land with less manual help. Since the mid-1970s and 1980s, the number of farms, though trending downward, has been fairly steady.

Agriculture / Sheep Farmers To Make More During Eid Al-adha Festival by Easymoney00101(m): 4:32pm On Feb 25, 2020
The Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha (festival of sacrifice) provides sheep farmers with an opportunity to access a growing market.

Eid al-Adha is one of the most important festivals in the Muslim calendar. The festival remembers the prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son when God ordered him.

As part of the Eid al-Adha festival, the essence of Qurbani (sacrifice) is to encourage acts of charity within the Muslim community.

This usually means people buy meat to share with their friends and family and also to donate to those in need.
The carcass is usually divided into three portions:

one-third is given to those in need (usually via foodbanks and charities)
the second portion is given to friends and family
the rest is kept by the person who bought it.
The festival is hugely significant to the industry as there is an increased demand for sheepmeat during Qurbani.

It is estimated that during the festival UK demand increases by approximately 300,000 sheep. The processing of animals for the festival is carried out over three days, commencing after the Eid al-Adha prayers.

This year the festival is anticipated to be on Friday 31 July, although it could vary by a day either way, depending on the sighting of the moon.

Below, Awal Fuseini, halal sector manager at AHDB, explains how sheep producers can meet requirements for the festival.

What requirements must be met?
The animals must have reached the age of sexual maturity (interpreted to be six months plus)
Animals should undergo a minimal number of invasive procedures. For example, entire ram lambs are preferred with undocked tails and animals should have no signs of injury.17-20 kg deadweight is the ideal target
Class 2 and conformation R/O are most suitable.

What happens at slaughter?
The majority of halal slaughter is pre-stunned (around 88%) and follows the same process as mainstream slaughter and is performed in accordance with the faith. All slaughter is regulated and overseen by the site’s official vet.

What is preferred, hogget or lamb?
While some Muslim consumers usually purchase sheep and hogget, there is a growing number of Muslim consumers who prefer lamb during Qurbani.

In order to cater for this growing number of lamb consumers, British farmers need to consider whether they can adapt their management and husbandry systems to enable them to produce animals that qualify for Qurbani lamb.

For instance, for animals to quality for Qurbani this year (2020), they would have been born on or before Friday 31 January.

Dates of future festivals
Over the next three years the festivals will be on:

20 July 2021 (must have been born on or before 20 January)
10 July 2022 (must have been born on or before 10 January)
29 June 2023 (must have been born on or before 29 December 2022)

Agriculture / How To Get Lands At Very Cheap Prices by Easymoney00101(m): 8:03am On Jan 15, 2020
The population of the world keeps increasing day by day, and the demand for land will definitely increase. So if you have cash and you really don’t know what to invest in, start buying lands. It is a great asset, and i will be giving you some tips on how to get lands at very cheap prices especially in rural communities or areas.

Everyone needs a land; farmers needs it for their farms, firms needs it for buildings, the whole world needs it for their houses, one thing or another. And there are already developed places where this factor of production is highly demanded thus making the price very high.

You can’t compare the price of a 100×100 land in Ikoyi, Lagos to that in Okada, Edo. Totally different. I’m not here for compare and contrast, just by the way. So let’s look at how you can get lands at very cheap prices….like i said before especially in rural areas.

Pray before going for your search

Whether you like it or not, prayer settles a lot of things. So when you pray before going out, I bet your search would go smooth.

You wouldn’t find it hard to get the type of land you’re looking for. This has worked for me in different ways, that’s why I’m dropping it as the first thing to do.

Take a gift with you

As a man’s gift maketh way for him, so also will that little wine of yours, that clothing material, that school bag for their child will help beat things down.

And you know most times in rural areas, you get to meet the real owners of the land or someone that knows who the real owners are and will only demand for peanuts. So there’s really no paying of agent fee (the way I hate this thing ehn!).

Romance / See 26 Reasons Why You Should Marry A Farmer's Daughter by Easymoney00101(m): 2:11am On Jan 03, 2020
Most farmer’s daughters are really cool to be with. Especially those that actually follow their parents to the farm. They are hard-working, reliable, tough and can do amazing things with baler twine. Let’s look at some of the reasons why you should marry a farmer’s daughter.

Rural blogger and farm consultant Anna Bowen gives us 25 reasons why you should definitely marry a farmer’s daughter.

1. Chances are she can use a gun, whether it’s for game, vermin or clays. The only issue is that she may shoot straighter than you…

2. Big machines won’t phase her.

3. Nor will speeding across the farm on a quad bike!

4. After a lifetime with a horse between her legs she has thighs of steel and a remarkable rising trot. Cheeky…

5. Summer is for harvest, which means she’s unlikely to demand a holiday beyond a week of skiing after Christmas.

Food / Benefits Of Taking Fruits And Vegetables For Breakfast by Easymoney00101(m): 1:38am On Jan 02, 2020
The benefits of taking fruits and vegetables for breakfast are listed below:

A lot of people love taking fruits, others have become vegetarians. This is something that is of less disadvantage than good. The benefits of taking fruits and vegetables are countless, but let’s stick with the benefits of taking it for breakfast.

1. Between the hours of 7-11am, the body is doing the heaviest detoxification, so eating fruits (especially during this time) ensures healing energy is used for detoxification rather wasted on digesting heavy fatty foods.

2. Fruits for break-fast is the perfect way to ‘break the overnight fast’, as it gently wakes the digestive system & metabolism up from a semi-slumber, all without the harsh adrenal jolt of a coffee or fatty meal.

Agriculture / Re: Farm Products That Can Boost Your Sperm Count by Easymoney00101(m): 12:27pm On Dec 05, 2019

Agriculture / Farm Products That Can Boost Your Sperm Count by Easymoney00101(m): 12:23pm On Dec 05, 2019
According to recent World Health Organization guideline, a healthy sperm count is 15 million per milliliters (ml) or 39 millions per sample. Sperm count lower than 10 millions per ml is considered abnormal and can result male infertility.

Markers of Sperm Health
Dr. Rohini, Chief Infertility & IVF Specialist Explained That, “Sperm count is directly associated with sperm health.

Before you start thinking to improve your sperm health, lets first understand the markers of sperm health.” The markers of sperm health includes:

Sperm motility: Sperm mobility refers to sperm movements. Sperms must be able to swim to reach and fertilize the egg.
Semen Volume: A minimum volume is required to carry the sperms through the female reproductive region. A normal semen volume ranges from 2 to 5ml per ejaculation.
Sperm morphology: The average ideal size and shape of sperm cell in a sample.
Sperm count: The concentration of sperm cells per ejaculation.
Now, the question arises is, How to increase the sperm count? The answer is not complicated as we think. You can improve the sperm counts by three methods: Lifestyle changes, Food and Supplement. However, medication is suggested in the treatment of low sperm counts when the sperm count is too low.

Now, let’s check all one by one.

Lifestyle changes: Current lifestyle is the major factor in both male and female infertility and little change in lifestyle is can take to the door to happiness.

Say NO to:

Smoking: In 2016 a study reviewed the result of over 20 studies with nearly 6000 participates that smoking consistently reduces sperm counts.

Alcohol: Alcohol is not only injurious to health also to sperms. If you drink alcohol, you need to do so in moderation. As per the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, up to two drinks per day is considered moderate for men.

Drugs: Several prescribed medicines may decrease the healthy product of sperms such as anti-androgens, anti-inflammatories, antipsychotics, corticosteroids, methodone and some antibiotics. Once you stop taking these medicines, your sperm counts return to normal and even can decrease. Drugs such as marijuana, cocaine etc decreases sperm production.

Stress: Stress never good for any one. At the time of stress the body is less concerned about reproduction and more concerned about surviving. A healthful diet and exercise may help to reduce the stress.

Excess weight: A study says,” overweight or obese guys had lower sperm count and decreased motility.

Soy: Soya food is contains a good amount of phytoestrogens or plant estrogen. Excess of this reduces testosterone bonding and sperm production. So, you need to limit your intake of soy-based foods, such as soya milk, soya sauce and tofu, etc.

Agriculture / Know These Things Before Dating A Farmer by Easymoney00101(m): 11:11pm On Dec 01, 2019
When you look at the world’s population and the percentage ot those involved in farming, it is minute. Less than 2% of the American population are directly involved in farming. With this little population of farmers, several people don’t understand them (farmers) and what it feels like when it comes to dating a farmer.

As a farmer and a food/farm blogger, I feel I should let you all know somethings before dating a farmer (Male or female).

Before I drop my list, you all know that 100% of whatever you eat comes from a farm, directly or indirectly. Farming feeds the world.
So when you’re with someone involved with feeding others, there are some attributes to be made known to you.

The farm needs them

Farmers work hard, from sunrise till sunset, making sure everything is going well in the farm. Even if they own a very big farm and have lots of labourers and managers under them, they’ll definitely do check up each day.
So they may not always have the time for hangouts for dinner night because they have a farm to care for. Understand this.

The farm is priority

When you date a farmer, you have to know that the farm is his or her priority. They love you so well, but won’t allow love make their source of living suffer. It is their responsibility to care for it.

Dates in the farm

You shouldn’t always expect to have dates at the best of places, or the most expensive of places. Riding with bae in the farm truck, moving round the farm, checking animals, entering bushes together isn’t bad for dates right?

What do you see farmers as? Why should you marry a farmer? Do you see them as hard task masters, mean, dirty, miserable, unromantic and kinda surly souls? Or are they relatively domesticated, muscular, kind, romantic and a good catch? Will be taking you through some good reasons why you should get married to a farmer

1. Family Farm

Have you ever thought of bringing up children on a farm, it gives them this wonderful appreciation for life, for death, even nature, fresh air, for entrepreneurship, for a sense of adventure. They’ll love being your children.

2. Animal Birth

The first time I saw an Ewe give birth, I was so emotional. There’s really nothing as special as seeing a tiny lamb or calf struggle on shaky legs to its mother’s udder(breast), especially if it’s after a tough birth. So having a family where these happen is really a lot.
This alone should cover all the reasons why you should get married to a farmer.

3. No Gym Expenses

If you’re someone that wants to go fit, you won’t need to pay a gym membership, you’ll get fit easily and healthy from running after wayward calves, feeding goats and jumping on and off tractors.
You’ll lose weight every year when you feed about 140 calves for two months, bringing in the cows to be milked is really relaxing exercise too.

4. Scrubbing up well

Farmers tend to be splattered with muck, they don’t have to dress smart, they may hardly visit the barber and stuffs like that.
But when he does scrub up to go on a night out, the transformation can remind you why you fell in love with him in the first place and you fall in love all over again.
This is kinda general. For me, apart from being a farmer, I love looking good, I love smelling great, I cut my hair every two weeks.. so this doesn’t apply to me.
