bassdow:Abba, you have not gone to market of recent to buy Fridge. Most of the fridge they make now are very power efficient and should not be categorized as power appliances . Any fridge made from 2022. My fridge/Freezer consumes just 69w of energy. A complete 302L LG fridge freezer. Infact I power it with just a single 12v 100ah battery and a 300W inverter and the fridge still has on/off cycle. So out of 24hours, the compressor only runs 14hours. That brings the fridge down to a 43W fridge if it is to run 24hours. So, if you bought your fridge 2022 model upwards, especially LG fridge, they are stupidly power efficient |
adrusa:Nice, you have been using them for how long and where did you purchase them |
bassdow:I am looking at FELICITY 80A because it seem like the only one that supports me remotely controlling it. I dont like going to charge controllers to check the screen all the time. I prefer to monitor everything from my ohone. The new Felicity MPPT controller supports that and seem readily available in the Nigerian market. Whats your take on FELICITY charge controllers |
bassdow:You kuku see say I dinnor quote/reply him again😂😂😂😂 Because I know my controller is a premium controller. Even though the guy first made me fear😂. The panel is currently fully blasting power into my controller as I speak and the controller is almost nearing its peak 40A sef. I am getting 30A plus already. Bet me I knew nothing do the controller. The guy was just giving me High Blood Pressure advice😂😂. |
Ferdiwar: Peterlove11: AshipaEk0: dollarnaira: Debroslink:Thanks so much guys, we had our first rain of the year yesterday night… This morning I went to check the panel yeild, I was getting as high as 450W which is more than 80% of the rated wattage of the 550w Jinko panel. This was even as early as 10.30am. So your theories about the weather was very correct! Thank you guys. I was initially worried maybe it is was my wiring, maybe Foauni don dey sell fake Jinko, maybe it was my charge controller, so many maybes😂😂, I did not know it was dust in the sky that was cheating my panels of correct sun rays😅. |
Jefferyzz:I don’t understand the image sir |
easyyoke:Abeg make una help me |
Guys if I want to carry 800w of solar panel power over 10yards distance (37v, 22Amps), how many mm wire will be the recommended wire please for optimal performance and little to no loss. |

MeGt:When Starlink says, the service is at full capacity in your area, it means there is no more satellites available to serve starlink dishes in that area. So even if you buy from a third party, it is waste of money. There is no satellite in your area again for your dish to communicate with. The way starlink works is that each dish is allocated to a number of satellites it communicates with. And each satellite has a maximum number of dish it can serve. So when you hear that starlink is at full capacity in your area, it means no more satellites available to serve your dish. Every other satellite in that area has been allocated to people. You will have to hold on till Starlink launches new satellites to that area that can serve you |
kristien4:Nice. It is Jinko 550w own I got from Foauni but my yield is just like 50% of what the panel should produce. Everybody is saying it is currently because of the weather. Are you still getting that 2730watt this period? Or your yield has dropped. |
Dam5reey:What Brand would you recommend as a good MPPT charge controller. Something in the 80A and above range because I plan to add more panels later |

dollarnaira:Wawu. This is true sha. The dust no be here. I clean my house almost every two days. It will still look as if I did not clean the house atall. So I guess I will wait till when the first or second rain fall then before I conclude. Thank you |
AshipaEk0:Thank you. This seem like a very logical answer. I will wait till after the harmattan is done. Thank youuuu |
Penuelseun:Wawu. Not it is not my controller. My Charge controller. Is a quality controller made by Renogy in the US so it is a quality and expensive product ke. This cannot even be right. I have a clamp meter and I have measured the DC Amp directly from the panel’s wire as well as the Volt. It is giving me exactly what the MPPT controller is giving with just a little loss. So it is not my controller |
oloet:It is a single 550w panel. I dont really know much about orientation. I just placed the panel outside. I am waiting to get one more before putting it on the roof. My controller is a 40A HQST MPPT Charge controller. Can you please shed some light on the orientation. Maybe that could be one of my issues |
TechGeek777:My system is a 12v system. I have a 200ah LIFEPO4 battery. A 40A HQST MPPT charge controller. I dont think inverter model matters here as I am not drawing any load from the battery while charging. Just purely charging the 200ah battery and I am only getting 275, 280wmax out of the rated 550w Jinko panel in bright sunlight |
brightk:I dont really have much idea about orientation. I have not mounted it on my roof yet. I just placed it outside for now. I want to add one more 550w to it before I put it on the roof. The wire length from the panel to my MPPT charge controller is 10yards. I am using a 6mm pure copper wire. The panel current is rated for 13A under loads. To troubleshoot if it was my wire that was the problem, I actually took both my controller and my battery close to the panel and ran the original panel wire straight from the panel to the controller and I was still getting 275, 280W max at peak sunlight. So I dont think it is my wire. It is a single 550w Jinko Panel bought directly from Foauni stores. Here is the picture of where I placed it. There is no shading at all. Ignore those other two panels. Those were the first 300w panels I bought. Those ones too are giving me 100W max per panel. So I have been wondering what is the problem. Lets assume those 300w are fake panels, this Jinko 550w is definitely original as Foauni store does not sell fake things.
|
oloet:My Jinko panel is clean. It is brand new. So no dust on it yet. Just 3days old and I have been taking the reading over the course of three days. Good shinning sunlight. Yet the max I am getting is 270w out of the Jinko 550W |
kristien4:What brand is your 580w panel and where did you get them please. You are getting about 80% yield and that is a very good yield. Your panels are original panels. I am getting just about half of my own rated wattage. What brand is your panel please and where did you get them? |
Hello guys, I bought some generic 300W panel from a Solar shop. 2pcs. It was during raining season so sun wasn't really out that period. I noticed on my 40A HQST MPPT charge controller, the panel wasnt giving me more than 80W out of the stated 300w. (The MPPT charge controller shows you how many volt and Amps that is coming in from the solar panel). So I thought maybe it is because we were in raining season that period. Fast forward to January with full sun, I was getting 105w max per panel to give 210w out of the supposed 600W I am supposed to get. So I concluded I have bought fake panels. Then I decided, this time around I will buy original Jinko 550w from an authorized dealer. So I went straight to Foauni store(one of the authorized dealers in Nigeria). On getting home, I noticed I was only 275w out of the stated 550w too. Foauni does not sell fake products so I know I did not buy fake this time around. So I was wondering, is this the normal way solar panels work. Delivering just 50% of their rated wattage even in full bright sun. And even when my battery is very low this is still what I get. I know most times, when batteries are almost full, your MPPT enters float mode and reduces the power coming in from your panels but even at low battery percentage, I am still not getting more than 50% of the rated wattage of the Jinko 550w panel in full bright sunlight. My MPPT controller tracks the wattage all day and tells you at the end of the day the highest wattage the panel supplied and the highest I got on the 550w panel is 280W. And my controller does not have any current limiting function. Is this how solar panels work in Nigeria because most solar panel reviews in the US that I watch on Youtube, those panels produce atleast 80% of their rated capacity. |
seunpayne:Bro, I know this is an old thread. But I wanted to ask, how did you get your echo dots to work in Nigeria. I thought Amazon Alexa service is not supported here. Alexa app is not even available on my appstore and I think I want it over google nest hub |
BadMaster:I see! When last did you use your Nigerian verve naira card to purchase an item on playstore? |
Guys, I think Starlink was actually very wise to make their subscription fee 38K from December. Dollar is now 890. $42 x 890 is actually N37,380. So it was as if they had already done a forecast of dollar increasing and they had done their assignment properly. But I am thinking, dollar may cross the N900 mark by December. Will this mean they will increase the subscription fee again in naira? |
Youngpo413:No you cant. Opay does not support international transactions. Playstore transactions is actually an international transaction. Starlink payment is a local transaction. Meaning starlink actually has a Nigerian bank account that the money goes to so it is a local transaction. |
Leemekzy:Yes, you can |
Quick questions guys. Has anybody canceled their starlink service maybe because you will be away for a while or perhaps you dont have subscription money to pay for that month and then after a while you reactivated your service . How easy was it for you to reactivate the service please. I am considering canceling my subscription for just some time as I really haven’t been using the service to its full potential. More like I am just giving starlink free money😅 and I want to stop the service for now. But I am also skeptical as to how easy it will be to get back to using the service. I live in an area where there isnt much people using starlink so we are nor at full capacity yet and wont be at full capacity anytime soon sef but then again will it be easy to get back. Has anybody done this before? |
pman06:You can use any of the two. I used the physical card |
For those having problems with their cards… Tried many banks, it did not work. I tried Opay card…Worked immediately. I was even able to pay manually before the stipulated day that my invoice would be due |
TechGeek777:Why would you advise someone to sell their solar panel? Panels last for 25years and you can continue to add as many as you like to it provided the panels are thesame voltage panels. There is no reason to sell panel. You are even advised to overpanel your system(i.e use more panel than you typically need if money is not your problem). That way, days sun does not come out well, your overpanelled panels will fill in the gap. There is no reason for him to sell his panels. All he needs is a good installer who knows how to use 2s2p configurations so far the panels are thesame voltage |
