Kendzyma: Thanks, it means it will significantly increase my electricity bills right? 432watt cannot significantly increase your electricity bill as compared to using an A.C. Let me teach you how to calculate your electricity bill. When you consume 1 unit of electricity, it means you have consumed 1kwh. If you use 432watt in 1hour, you consumed 432wh. If you convert 432wh to kwh, it will be 0.432kwh. So if you charge your system for say, 5hours, that is 432watt x 5 = 2160wh. If you convert it to kWh, that is 2.16kwh. Meaning if you charge your battery with 432watt for 5hours daily, you have consumed 2.1unit of PHCN electricity. Now in sharp contrast, lets look at an A.C. Those are quite power consuming. An average 1.5HP AC consumes about 1125w. And there are ACs that are even bigger than that. But lets just use 1.5HP. So if 1.5HP consumes 1125w, it means in 1hour, you have consumed 1.12kwh. Lets assume you put on your AC for 10hours a day. That is 1125w x 10hr= 11250wh. If we convert it to kwh, thar is 11.25kwh. So that means if you put on a 1.5HP AC for 10hours, it will consume 11units😅. And I simply limited it to 10hours. Some people run their AC much longer than that. So you see that your 432w for charging your battery for 5hours only consumes about 2unit and that is quite small in comparison to 11units that a 1.5Hp AC will consume in 10hours. Hope this explanation helps. |

Moving to a 5.12kwh battery with a 350w load will give me just 14hours use. So that is not even big big if you consider the days when there will be rain and there won’t be sun to charge. But charging a 5.12kwh with a 12v system in 5hours will require almost 80amps as opposed to just 20amps if I am with a 48v battery. I consider 80amps really large(more wire cost, heat and many other headache with handling high amps). Hope that helps you understand my dilemma now |

bigl: If you're following just everything writen by the books and don't pay attention, then you'll be more confused than ever ...
The 20k for 120gb is referred to as unlimited plan by airtel (mtn also does that but why is what i don't know)
There's also the "speed based plan", oya repeat after me, "speed", "based" "plan" ... being sold for same 20k for 20mbps ...
The router itself is capable of 5G speed which of course can be up to 1gb per second speed ... if such speed is allowed for same 20k, airtel business will run down... that's why they are giving us a speed capped option of 20mbps for 20k or 40mbps for 35k and 60mbps for 50k which according to them, you're allowed to use as much data as u wish ...
I considered that option of being able to download without any cap so went with that and not the 120gb for 20k ... those people with the 120gb for 20k will experience faster speeds than my 20mbps .... but that 120gb can be used up in less than 2 weeks ...
I hope u get it?
Go to airtel office to confirm and stop reading just any junk they write on their bill boards
I just renewed today sef and here is what i saw on the recharge platform (check attached pix)...
I'll also post again, check the monthly data usage/traffic as at today, wednesday 28th Feb 2024 ...
I'll check to see if i still have screenshot of the past month where i used 650gb and attach Oh, Thank you for the explanation. This must be the Unlimited EBB plan. Does this work for areas without 5G network too please and you ever done speed test. Do you really get the 20mbps they promised for 20K plan |

I have 4 pcs of 380W (1,520W total) Exulted black solar panels on the roof and I get about 465W at peak.
This worries me so much.
Using 60A Felicity charge controller. I initially had thesame issue till experienced people here told me it was because there was dust in the atmosphere. And indeed as soon as rain fell in my area, the yield drastically jumped up immediately the following day. So wait for rain to fall in your area too. If rain falls and you are still experiencing very low yield, you will need to check your panel configuration and also confirm that you did not buy fake panels(overrated panel/relabelled panel) |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by easyyoke: 9:32pm On Feb 19, 2024 |
finebois: Good evening boss. Please your 320L inverter freezer takes how many hours to freeze from scratch. Also during the day, how hours did you use to put it on. And What's is maximum power(watts of the freezer incase of surge) It is an inverter fridge so there is no surge. The compressor starts slowly then continues working. It doesn't surge up like old compressors. There is a mechanism called defrosting where the evaporator tries to defreeze to prevent clogging, that is the process that uses the highest power and at that period the highest power the fridge uses is 110W and it is only for about 15minutes and it does that only once in 8hours. And it doesn’t just jump or surge to that level, the compressor rises slowly from 0watt till it gets to that 110w so your inverter won’t even notice anything. The freezer works for about 4hours or so to start freezing anything you put inside it. During the day, how hours did you use to put it onI dont put it off atall though. Since it doesn’t consume much power. The typical continuous wattage it works at is 65-75w. Also the compressor goes on and off by itself and only works for about 14hours out of 24hours |

Youngzedd: Hello everyone,
What's the percentage efficiency of solar panel?
Like now many Watts of power is 380W mono solar panel suppose to produce during peak hour? A good quality solar panel should produce 70-80% of the rated capacity at peak sunlight and in good weather. So you should get at-least (266watts-304watts). During harmattan and dusty weather, you should get about 45-55% of the rated wattage. |

Ithaca: Hi All,
Since this recent issue with GasCos and GenCos, electricity supply has been pretty terrible, I now get around 5 to 6 hours of light. Luckily for me, I have an existing solar set up and I bought lithium batteries in October last year.
My existing set up is: 8 solar panels of 300w each 2.5kva, 24v inverter (it had an inbuilt solar charge controller which went bad and I had to get an external charge controller last year) 60A MPPT solar charge controller 2 100Ah 25.6v lithium ion batteries connected in series, which, if I am not mistaken, gives me about 5.12kwh of power (give or take efficiency losses)
Now to the load I put on it: 65 inch TCL TV 100w samsung inverter fridge (though I recently changed the compressor, so who knows if it is still consuming 100w) An old 175w scanfrost deep freezer (always on, not sure it cycles on and off like the inverter fridge) Lights Fans (ceiling fans - I never even knew these consumed so much energy until this Nepa issue when I found out one fan consumes 75w,that's almost as much as my fridge!)
I am getting about 10-12 hours of power of mixed use. Two ceiling fans + fridge and freezer will run down the battery from 100% to 5% in about 8 hours based on my calculation/observation. This means I can't run both overnight, and so I pick and choose to ensure the battery power lasts till morning when the sun comes back up.
I have two questions/concerns: 1. Is this level of drain fair enough or do you think there could be a problem with my set-up? 2. How do I get to 12 hours of power with my major appliances (fridge and freezer) running constantly? Do I need to start thinking of inverter freezers (I guess technology has improved in recent years). Or will I need to get an additional battery?
Many thanks in advance and apologies if I have asked any questions for which the answers seem obvious - I have not really paid detailed attention to alternative energy until this year. Let me give you a few tips to make your battery last longer. First of, stop using all your fans. Save up and buy DC Fans. My Duravolt 16’ standing fan consumes just 15W at speed 1, 22W at Speed 2 and 26W at Speed 3. Second, like one user already said, only use your freezer during the day when there is sun outside, at night, switch it off. Everything should be well frozen till the following morning. If you really want to run your refrigerator system 24hours, then save up to buy an LG inverter Fridge-Freezer combo. My 302L Fridge-Freezer combination consumes just 70W. Infact when I first bought it, it was consuming just 50W then it had fault and Foauni took in for repair. That was how it came back and started using 70W. Even with that, that is still very energy effecienct because inverter Fridge-freezer does not run 24hours. It rests when your fridge temperature gets to a level. I calculated mine and discovered it only runs for 14hours a day. So that brings down the wattage of the fridge-freezer to 43W. So get an inverter fridge-freezer if you must run them 24hours. Dont go above 300L though. The bigger the fridge, the more watt. Third. Your 65 inch TCL should be used only during the day. Use your 32inch at night. Change your bulbs to AKT 5w bulbs. The highest should be 10w. This three suggestions will extend the hours you are getting from your battery. It you cant do without those appliances, then it is time to add more batteries to your battery |

I just got myself 2# 100A Felicity charge controllers but trying to program them for lithium batteries is presently proving difficult.
I wanted to adjust the float and absorption to 57v but it seems the charge controllers can't go beyond 54.6v. Actually they get the battery pack to this voltage and stay there for the remainder of the day so I'm experiencing a lot of waste in that direction.
Anyway this can be adjusted upwards? Where did you buy the controller please |

PotatoSalad: Funny.
Carry your dish to a house close to a cell tower and run tests for science before you conclude. I believe the interference is due to the band used by Starlink conflicting with the one used by the cell tower. Remember there are devices that interfere with the 2.4ghz band in your house. That microwave in your kitchen for example. That isnt what he is saying. He is saying his dish, not his router, is getting interference from nearby mast. If his claim was that his router is getting interference, that is still in line with how interference works… But saying a LTE mast is interfering with how your dish is communicating with satellites that are 550km above ground level is absurd. As a matter of fact, there are many questions like this on Reddit with users asking if nearby mast can degrade their service. But if he insists his dish’s communincation to satellites is being interefered by nearby masts, then so be it. https://www.reddit.com/r/Starlink/comments/le5mnq/does_cell_phone_antennas_affect_starlink/ |
Phones › Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by easyyoke: 10:50pm On Feb 14, 2024 |
BadMaster: So, I have been using Starlink since February last year, and it was excellent. I use to get speeds up to 300Mbps+. After moving to a new location, I observed that my speed really tanked. In fact, I have not seen 200Mbps. Initially, I thought my dishy or cable was faulty, so I asked Starlink support to carry out checks on my kits for confirmation. Starlink support reverted back to me after thorough checks(according to them), informing me that my dishy and cable are in excellent conditions, however, I am experiencing extremely high level interferance. They then asked me to capture my installation and my immediate surrounding. I did as advised.
The thing is, I live directly under a large mast/base station. According to Starlink, the base station is the culprit, and there's little to nothing I can do to improve Starlink service. Though I could try to move the dishy around my roof, but given the proximity, it would probably not change anything.
This is for your information only. In case anyone is experiencing similar challenges. What is the current speed you are getting. Starlink speed dropped globally because most satellites are now at full capacity(They now have millions of customers as opposed to when they first launched). Which is why they have been relentlessly launching satellites to space back to back. I was getting 250Mbps February last year when I first got the it, then it dropped to 50Mbps for some months, now it is up to 120Mbps. So far, your dish is not blocked by any obstacle or tree and you have clear line of sight, the large mast base station around you does not affect you. This is a satellite technology. It is not a Wifi/LTE technology. Starlink speed dropped globally but has been going back up. 120Mbps is still crazy fast for me |
