There have been speculations and jubilations in some quarters over the rumoured reconciliation of estranged couple Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and his wife Pastor Anita Oyakhilome who had since their divorce mess changed to her maiden name Ebhodaghe. Anita sent out her reaction to the reconciliation rumour. She posted a statement on her website www.pastoranita.org on Thursday, May 26, 2016 where explained that her decision to dissolve her marriage with the televangelist, was final and remained unchanged.


“It has been brought to my attention that there are persistent rumors and misinformation about my marital status being circulated and I would like to address the certain reconciliation rumours with this statement. Further to the formal notification of the dissolution of marriage made by my Solicitors earlier this year, please note that this has not changed; and I am no longer a part of Christ Embassy aka Believer’s Loveworld or any such organisation in any capacity. I am reiterating this to ensure that no one is misled by the false rumors or unfounded statements that show up and are spread from time to time on the Internet. Any additional statement concerning me will be issued by my Solicitors, who are my legal representatives so please do not be deceived. Thank you and God bless.” Anita had filed for dissolution of the marriage between her and her pastor husband, on the grounds of “unreasonable behaviour” and “adultery” at Divorce Section A, Central Family Court, First Avenue House, High Holborn, London, the United Kingdom.

400 level student sentenced to 9 months For Possession 108 Bottles Of Syrup with codeine

Honourable Justice Zainab Abubakar of the Federal High Court Kano has sentenced a 400 level student of Geology, Mudasir Sani Umar to nine months imprisonment for dealing in 108 bottles of cough syrups containing codeine.

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano State Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar complained of the consumption of cough syrup with codeine as one of the drugs of abuse in the State.
“We are working hard to prevent the abuse of cough syrup with codeine and other substances in the State by youths and women. The command is partnering with relevant stakeholders to create awareness so as to reduce cases of substance abuse” Hamza stated.
According to source learnt that Mudasir was arrested with 108 bottles of cough syrups with codeine weighing 28kg packed in two laptop bags during routine search by NDLEA motorised patrol team along Kano Zaria road.
He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to nine months imprisonment. The convict, obviously had been given a second opportunity to turn a new leaf and complete his Bachelor’s degree in Geology.
Kano State Commander who expressed optimism about the outcome of the case said that the command is working to eradicate the traffic and use of narcotic drugs.

A policewoman, simply identified as Taiwo, attached to the Igando Police Division of the Lagos State Police Command, has put herself into big trouble after it emerged that she beat a commercial bus (Danfo) driver, identified as Muyiwa Ijaduola, to death, because he refused to part with some bribe money after she had apprehended him for a perceived traffic offence. According to eyewitnesses, the incident whih happened on Sunday, May 22, around a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation filling station in the Igando area, when Taiwo and another female police Corporal, were checking vehicles.

It was that when the officers stopped the 46-year-old Ijaduola, the allegedly demanded the sum N500 from the driver who offered to give them N300, which they refused to collect, insisting on their demand. The driver, a father of three, it was reported, explained that he was just resuming work for the day and he didn’t have enough money on him but the policewoman refused his appeal for mercy. She then allegedly began to hit him with her baton and forced him down from the bus.

It was in the process, pushed him and he slipped and fell into a gutter where he hit his head and died instantly. Immediately she noticed that Ijaduola had stopped moving, she and her colleague ran away from the scene, after which other motorists came to help the driver from the gutter and discovered that he was dead. Angry youths thereafter reportedly stormed the Igando Division in the evening of that day, but they were dispersed by gunshots, while Ijaduola’s corpse was deposited by the police in a morgue. The former president of Nigeria visited Newark to celebrate African culture and democracy.
President Goodluck Jonathan took to the podium at Newark’s City Hall Municipal Council Chamber to praise African countries who’ve taken up a more democratic approach.
“One man, one vote, one woman, one vote, one youth, one vote. I also advocate and I’m also know for preaching that my political ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian,” said Jonathan.

Newark Municipal Council President Mildred Crump presented Goodluck with a very special gift.
“One of the things that I love to give to people, and because I know his house, you have a lovely coffee table, I am pleased and honored to present to you the book called Newark by John Cunningham.”
Essex County College presented the former Nigerian president with a gift from one of its students.

Reverend sisters, Apo Perpetual and Bukola Roseline Familade with their driver,Zwugwa Zibai were kidnapped at Benin-Ijebu Ode Expressway at Kajola village in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state on the 12 May 2016 .
The Ondo State Police Command says it is yet to have any information about the whereabouts of the two abducted Reverend Sisters.
The police however said it had commenced efforts to rescue the sisters.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph said their abductors have not contacted anyone to demand for ransom but assured their families members that they will soon be released.
He noted that the command had been on the trail of the hoodlums but no one had been arrested in connection to the the incident.
” We are still on the trail of the kidnappers, but for now all I can tell you is that we are investigating and very soon they would be released and the abductors would be arrested, ” he explained .
The Director of Communications of the Catholic Diocese of Ondo, Rev. Father Leo Aregbesola said the Vicar-General of the diocese had met with the state Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Hilda Harrison over the matter.

U.S.-based lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye stopped from travelling out of the country By DSS

Maryland-based attorney Emeka Ugwuonye, who is at the center of a scam in which he illegally pocketed $1.55 million that belonged to the Nigerian embassy in the US, has suffered yet another legal setback.
In 2015, it was also reported by saharareporter, Mr. Ugwuonye, who was found liable by a US Superior Court for embezzling $1.55 million belonging to the Nigerian embassy in the US in in 2007.
In 2013, US District Court judge, Barbara Rothstein, had ordered Mr. to immediately refund $1.55 million in tax refunds he stole from the Nigerian embassy in Washington, DC in 2007. Judge Rothstein also held Mr. Ugwuonye liable to a pre-judgment interest at a rate of 6% per annum. The total judgment against the shady lawyer totaled $2,075,131.30 as of July 12, 2013, the date of Judge Rothstein’s verdict.
On thursday 19 May 2016, he was stopped from travelling out of Nigeria at the Airport by the Department of state services (dss). He shared his ordeal with DSS officers at Airport, he said:
"MY PASSPORT WAS INITIALLY STAMPED, THEN ...
It was such a drama today. First, a member of DPA high in the Nigerian security apparatus had met me at the airport to expedite my passage. Everything went swiftly. But my name and picture were on every DSS computer screen. My assist, an officer, was carrying my bag. And I was waived all through till the last desk. Gbam! They realized what was happening and there was a lot of movement. The entire security lines were stopped.

Funnily enough, they didn't really speak with me immediately. They were just looking at me and arguing among themselves. Then, a more senior officer arrived and after being briefed, he came to me and politely asked me to follow them to their office. Then the drama intensified. Eventually it was clear to me that the officers at the airport were determined to let me go. But they must get clearance. Finally, the word came. Emeka cannot leave the country. He must be turned back.

But my luggage was already in the airplane. The airline staff were already calling for me to come aboard, etc. The DSS officers ironically were now interested in ensuring that I was safe. Amazing country. I'm frustrated, but not angry. Tomorrow, I will try again."

Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arraigned four Mexicans and five Nigerians for allegedly operating a super laboratory for the illicit production of methamphetamine. The accused persons on Monday April 25, 2016 appeared before Honourable Justice A.O. Faji at the Federal High Court, Asaba on a five count charge of conspiracy to form and operate a Drug Trafficking Organisation (DTO) to process and export methamphetamine. They were also accused of illegal extraction of ephedrine, preparation of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of 1.5kg of methamphetamine; a drug similar to cocaine, heroin, LSD contrary to NDLEA Act, Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

The accused persons are as follows; Anthony Chukwuemeka Umolu a.k.a. Onwa Obosi, Chief Chibi Aruh, Izuchukwu Anieto, Cervantes Madrid Jose Bruno, Rivas Ruiz Pasiano, Castillo Barraza Cristobal, Partida Gonzalez Pedro, William Ejike Agusi and Augustine Kosisochukwu Umolu. They could not take their plea because the four Mexicans claim not to understand English language and the defence counsel, Barrister Benson Ndakara objected to the use of an interpreter produced by the NDLEA on the grounds of bias. NDLEA counsel, Barrister Lambert Nor told the court that the objection was a ploy to delay the trial and prayed the court to give the defence one week to produce any interpreter of their choice. In response, Barrister Ndakara said that they cannot produce an interpreter but will accept another interpreter apart from the one in question.
Justice Faji then remanded the accused in prison custody and adjourned the case to May 13, 2016 for NDLEA to produce another interpreter.

An incident which can aptly be tagged as most outrageous happened in the north-central state of Plateau, Nigeria. In a remote and sleepy hamlet of Kanke local government, a little girl of Five was found to be pregnant. According to the child's parents, the perpetrator of the bizzare act is not known but the police has begun an inquiry with the view to fathom the identity of the mystery man or men behind the heinous crime. Speaking further, the Father of the girl told newsmen that until few months ago, the poor child began to complain of excruciating pains in her groin which they didn't pay commensurate attention to. After a while, they noticed that her breasts were developing, all of which they attributed to early adolescence precocity. Their fears were confirmed after tests were carried out on her when they noticed her protuberant tummy. The pregnancy test came back with a positive verdict. A woman, who was supposed to be dead, showed up at her own funeral in Melbourne, Australia and surprised her husband who had paid hitmen to kill her.

Noela Rukundo travelled home to Burundi from Australia to attend her stepmother’s funeral.


“I had lost the last person who I call ‘mother,’” Rukundo told the BBC in a recent interview. “It was very painful. I was so stressed.”

A Burundian woman living in Australia has told how she shocked her husband by turning up at her own funeral – after he had paid hit men to kill her.
Noela Rukundo, a mother of eight, had arrived in Australia as a refugee in 2004 – the same year as the man she was to go on to marry, Balenga Kalala.
In January 2015 she had returned to Burundi to attend her stepmother’s funeral.
Lying in her hotel, she was dozing in the heat when Kalala called her from their home in Australia, and suggested she get some fresh air.

"I didn't think anything,” she told the BBC. “I just thought that he cared about me, that he was worried about me."
But moments after stepping outside the hotel compound, Ms Rukundo saw a man approaching her, who pulled out a gun.
"He just told me, 'Don't scream. If you start screaming, I will shoot you. They're going to catch me, but you? You will already be dead.'”
She was forced into a car, and driven across the Burundian capital, Bujumbura, to a building where she was tied to a chair.

Rukundo had met her husband 11 years earlier, right after she arrived in Australia from Burundi, according to the BBC. He was a recent refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and they had the same social worker at the resettlement agency that helped them get on their feet. Since Kalala already knew English, their social worker often recruited him to translate for Rukundo, who spoke Swahili.

They fell in love, moved in together in the Melbourne suburb of Kings Park, and had three children (Rukundo also had five kids from a previous relationship). She learned more about her husband’s past — he had fled a rebel army that had ransacked his village, killing his wife and young son. She also learned more about his character.

“I knew he was a violent man,” Rukundo told the BBC. “But I didn’t believe he can kill me.”


"One of the kidnappers told his friend, 'Go call the boss.' I can hear doors open but I didn't know if their boss was in a room or if he came from outside.
"They ask me, 'What did you do to this man? Why has this man asked us to kill you?'
“And then I tell them, 'Which man? Because I don't have any problem with anybody.'
“They say, 'Your husband!' I say, 'My husband can't kill me, you are lying!' And then they slap me.
"After that the boss says, 'You are very stupid, you are fool. Let me call who has paid us to kill you.'"
The gang's leader made the call.


"We already have her," he triumphantly told his paymaster. The phone was put on loudspeaker for Ms Rukundo to hear the reply.
Her husband's voice said: "Kill her."
Yet she was thrown an unlikely lifeline by her kidnappers.
"I heard his voice. I heard him. I felt like my head was going to blow up,” she said. “Then they described for him where they were going to chuck the body." .She heard her husband's voice. Then she passed out.

They weren’t going to kill her, the men then explained — they didn’t believe in killing women, and children and they knew her brother. But they would keep her husband’s money and tell him that she was dead. After two days, they set her free on the side of a road, but not before giving her a mobile phone, recordings of their phone conversations with Kalala, and receipts for the $7,000 in Australian dollars they allegedly received in payment, according to Australia’s The Age.

“We just want you to go back, to tell other stupid women like you what happened,” Rukundo said she was told before the gang members drove away.

She said the men dropped her off on the side of the road with Western Union money transfers and a memory card they said had more than enough incriminating evidence against her husband, who was back home in Melbourne.

Shaken, but alive and doggedly determined, Rukundo began plotting her next move. She sought help from the Kenyan and Belgian embassies to return to Australia, according to The Age. Then she called the pastor of her church in Melbourne, she told the BBC, and explained to him what had happened. Without alerting Kalala, the pastor helped her get back home to her neighborhood near Melbourne.

Meanwhile, her husband had told everyone she had died in a tragic accident and the entire community mourned her at her funeral at the family home. On the night of Feb. 22, 2015, just as the widower Kalala waved goodbye to neighbors who had come to comfort him, Rukundo approached him, the very man whose voice she’d heard over the phone five days earlier, ordering that she be killed.

“I felt like somebody who had risen again,” she told the BBC.

Though Kalala initially denied all involvement, Rukundo got him to confess to the crime during a phone conversation that was secretly recorded by police, according to The Age.

“Sometimes Devil can come into someone, to do something, but after they do it they start thinking, ‘Why I did that thing?’ later,” he said, as he begged her to forgive him.

Kalala eventually pleaded guilty to the scheme. He was sentenced to nine years in prison by a judge in Melbourne.

“Had Ms Rukundo’s kidnappers completed the job, eight children would have lost their mother,” Chief Justice Marilyn Warren said, according to the ABC. “It was premeditated and motivated by unfounded jealousy, anger and a desire to punish Ms. Rukundo.”

Rukundo said that Kalala tried to kill her because he thought she was going to leave him for another man — an accusation she denies.

But her trials are not yet over. Rukundo told the ABC she’s gotten backlash from Melbourne’s Congolese community for reporting Kalala to the police. Someone left threatening messages for her, and she returned home one day to find her back door broken. She now has eight children to raise alone, and has asked the Department of Human Services to help her find a new place to live.

And lying in bed at night, Kalala’s voice still comes to her: “Kill her, kill her,” she told the BBC. “Every night, I see what was happening in those two days with the kidnappers.”

Despite all that, “I will stand up like a strong woman,” she said. “My situation, my past life? That is gone. I’m starting a new life now.”


They held her for two days, then let her go – having extorted more money from Kalala, and told him she was dead. They let Ms Rukundo go with instructions to tell other women not to stay with their violent husbands – and even provided memory cards with recordings of Kalala organising the hit, and Western Union money transfer receipts for the contract killing.
“He looks at me and then he says, 'We're not going to kill you. We don't kill women and children,'” she said.

"He told me I'd been stupid because my husband paid them the deposit in November. And when I went to Africa it was January. He asked me, 'How stupid can you be, from November, you can't see that something is wrong?'"
She said they told her: "'Your husband is serious. Maybe we can spare your life, but other people, they're not going to do the same thing. If God helps you, you'll get to Australia.'"
She returned to Melbourne.

On the day of her funeral, she stood outside her house as mourners left for the evening. Then she saw her husband guiding a group to their cars.

"I felt like somebody who had risen again," she said.
"When I get out of the car, he saw me straight away. He put his hands on his head and said, 'Is it my eyes? Is it a ghost?'" "He starts walking towards me, slowly, like he was walking on broken glass.
"He kept talking to himself and when he reached me, he touched me on the shoulder. He jumped.
"He did it again. He jumped. Then he said, 'Noela, is it you? Then he start screaming, 'I'm sorry for everything.'"
She called the police who ordered Kalala off the premises and later obtained a court order against him. Days later, the police instructed her to call Kalala. Kalala made a full confession to his wife, captured on tape, begging for her forgiveness and revealing why he had ordered the murder.
"He say he wanted to kill me because he was jealous," she said. "He think that I wanted to leave him for another man."
She rejects the accusation.
"I knew he was a violent man," she said. "But I didn't believe he can kill me. I loved this man with all my heart.”
In a police interview, Kalala denied any involvement in the plot. "The pretence," wrote the judge at his trial in December, "lasted for hours." But when confronted with the recording of his telephone conversation with Ms Rukundo and the evidence she brought back from Burundi he started to cry.




Kalala was still unable to offer any explanation for his actions, suggesting only that "sometimes [the] devil can come into someone to do something but after they do it, they start thinking, 'Why I did that thing?'"
He was sentenced to nine years in prison on December 11, in court in Melbourne, after pleading guilty to incitement to murder.
Yet she told the BBC that some in Melbourne’s African community blamed her for his actions, and were ostracising her and her eight children.
"But I will stand up like a strong woman," she said.
"My situation, my past life? That is gone. I'm starting a new life now."

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has accused Nigeria’s president, General Muhammadu Buhari is influencing the courts to convict him of treasonable felony.

Ejiofor said the president’s “pronouncement” on issues regarding Biafra was prejudicial, and that they were capable of forcing the hands of the court to convict his client.

He cited the president’s statements in Katsina, where he said that nobody could divide the country, and in his December presidential media chat, where he said that the IPOB leader should not be granted bail because he was a flight risk.

The counsel opined that Buhari was inadvertently compelling the court to do his bidding using his public pronouncements on his case.

“Nnamdi Kanu is a political prisoner, and this was confirmed in the presidential media chat,” he said.

“The pronouncements of the president is affecting the decision of the court. We consider the pronouncements prejudicial.

“The president should not be making pronouncements that are indirectly influencing the decision of the judges.”

Ejiofor added that he had filed a fundamental rights suit against the federal government at the ECOWAS court on the imprisonment of Kanu.
