Nnamdi Kanu's case, commence at about 10:35am. S.N Labran is the prosecuting counselor. San Chucks Muoma stated before introducing himself and learned friends that, he will be standing for the first and third defendants only,with the exclusion of the third defendant.

San Chucks Muoma,is speaking against the new counsel. According to San Chucks Muoma,the new defending counsel was imposed on him and the second defendant. He went further to state that,before the commencement of the court hearing, he was strictly asked not to defend the second defendant without prior information. According to San Chuks Muoma,this new defendant will serve as a distraction to him.
However, The new defendant Barrister Amobi Nzeye,stated that he was instructed in Kuje Prison on Sunday to take up the case of the second defendant. He said when the instruction came, he tried to reach Barrister Ejiofor on Sunday, but failed due to unforeseen circumstances that was beyond his control, but later contacted him this morning
According to him,Barrister Ejiofor told him he is aware of the recent development. Barrister Amobi Nzeye,he said he respects San Chucks Muoma and said the defendants have the right to make a change of counsel. San Chucks Muoma,with pains said, the defendants have embarrassed him. That they should have deemed it fit to have given him a preimformation, before bringing in another counsel into the case.

That if there was a preimformation given to him, he wouldn't have spent money for flight, to come down to Abuja, as he is not a very rich Man.

The presiding JUGDE ask the second defendant (Benjamin Madugbugwu) who he wants to be His PRESIDING COUNSEL He states; 'MY LORD, I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR TO THE WORLD THAT, AMOBI NZEYE IS MY LAWYER". Having accepted to preside over the second defendant, Barrister Amobi however seeks for the adjournment of the case which was granted to him by the presiding judge. A gunman who tried to flee to Amsterdam after shooting dead a childhood friend in broad-daylight has been jailed for 18 years.

Christopher Erunse, 28, opened fire on young father Moses Fadairo, 25, in a confrontation outside a butchers shop in Hackney.

Customers at restaurants and cafes nearby ran for cover when Moses chased after and stabbed Erunse in the leg, and he retaliated by opening fire.

The Old Bailey heard Moses and his older brother Emmanuel had been hunting down Erunse in a taxi on September 26 last year over a drug dispute, leaping out to confront him in Chatsworth Road just after 1pm.


Emmanuel dodged the bullets as he hid in the Mighty Meat butcher's shop, but Moses, a new father of twins from Bow, was struck once in the chest and died at the scene.

The younger Fadairo, a new father of twin boys, was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound to his chest, while the elder escaped unscathed.

Erunse, of Chalcombe Road, Greenwich, was cleared of murder and attempted murder by a jury but found guilty of manslaughter and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

His accomplice, Bradley Wynter, 28, admitted carrying the gun away from the scene of the shooting, and is due to be sentenced later.

He had been in Percy Ingle's bakery at the time of the shooting, but had been caught on CCTV dropping the weapon while carrying it away wrapped in his jacket.

Judge Wendy Joseph QC said the shooting was part of a spiral of "tit for tat revenge".

"The effect of it has rolled on and will roll on perhaps forever - the impact is huge and the damage irreparable", she said.

"A young man of 24 has lost his life and his children left fatherless. His mother has been left inconsolable and unable to come to terms with what's happened, and his siblings are bereft."

She said Erunse had chosen to live in "a world of violence and drugs", and chose to carry a loaded gun rather than go to the police for help when he got into the dispute with the Fadairo brothers.

"You armed yourself with a loaded weapon and went on to the high street at the busiest time of day on the busiest day of the week", she said.

"Frankly it's a miracle no innocent passerby was shot and badly injured in the scenes that unfolded."

Erunse was arrested three days after the shooting as he sat on a plane that was about to take off from Birmingham Airport.

As he was being led away by officers, he said into a mobile phone: "I've been nabbed."



Prosecutor Crispin Aylett QC said Erunse had grown up with the Fadairo brothers in Hackney as friends, but their relationship soured over some missing drugs.

"The fatal incident took place at around lunchtime on that same Saturday in Chatsworth Road, a busy road in Hackney", he said.

"It was a sunny day. People were eating outside at cafes and restaurants, parents were out shopping with their children.

"What followed was, on any view, quite outrageous."

Wynter, who has spent most of his adult life in prison, claims he threw the gun into the Thames after the shooting.

He had grown up with the brothers on the Pembury Estate. Erunse claimed he acted in self-defence after Moses stabbed him in the back of his leg as he was running away from the brothers and their friend Anthony Ebe – who had all jumped out of a taxi to chase him.

A second man, Bradley Wynter, 28, from the Pembury Estate, Lower Clapton, was captured on CCTV helping Erunse flee the scene having been passed the firearm that he had tried to hide in his jacket.

He had previously pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm.

Erunse was arrested by officers from West Midlands Police on board a plane at Birmingham International Airport on September 29, as he attempted to make his way to Amsterdam.

He admitted he had the gun, but denied murder, attempted murder and manslaughter.

Det Ch Insp Andrew Packer, of the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “This case began with two long-term friends falling out with each other.

“Whilst it may never be clear what led to this breakdown, the subsequent animosity grew into violence and resulted in a man losing his life.

“It was nothing short of a miracle that members of the public going about their daily business were not killed or badly injured during this incident.”

Erunse and Wynter will be sentenced next week.

Amaechi lied about Nigerian Maritime University, Delta
*Amaechi should rethink after saying there is no project on site.
Evidence has emerged that the Minister of Transportation and Aviation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi lied concerning the Nigerian Maritime University.
The minister while trying to justify the Federal Government's decision to scrap the Nigerian Maritime University told the Senate Committee on Marine Transport that there was no work on the Permanent site of the Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Delta state and insisted that what was on ground was "just the feasibility study."

Amaechi said, “Whoever that is holding on to the money should better return it. The Chinese company contracted, confirmed that only the feasibility study was in place.”
According to photographic evidence gathered by our correspondent who visited the site of the Maritime University, contractors were seen on working on site with heavy duty equipment, while buildings were captured at various phases of construction contrary to Mr. Amaechi's claims.
According to our correspondent, the temporary site of the Maritime University in Kurutie, Warri South-West of Delta State was equipped with necessary structures and facilities and was set to admit students into the 2016 academic year pending the completion of structures at the permanent site.
A resident of the community who spoke to our correspondent said, that there was no truth to claims by Mr. Amaechi as work was ongoing, he said that the contractors were being arrested while working on the site.
Other residents groaned that the Federal Government was sending a wrong signal to the community as that is what they got from having a Niger Deltan as President.
They remarked that despite the difficult terrain of the area where it is difficult to get sand, the contractors remained on site and dismissed the Ministers comment as uncharitable and sending a wrong signal.
The ground breaking ceremony was performed by former President Goodluck Jonathan on the May 10, 2014 while the Federal Executive Council approved the decision for the school to take off in 2015.

Nigerian Pastor Stole Over £4million From London School, Spent It On His Two wives.

An accountant stole more than £4million from a leading chain of academies to pay for two wives, a property portfolio, luxury cars and designer clothes, a court heard.
Samuel Kayode allegedly spent seven years paying himself a fortune from the accounts of the acclaimed Haberdashers’ Aske’s state schools in Britain’s ‘biggest ever educational fraud’.
He spent it at a rate of up to £98,000 a month, some on private healthcare for his dying first wife Grace in England – while spiriting more away to a secret second wife in Nigeria, the prosecution claimed.
Kayode, 60, would arrive late each day – wearing Gucci and Versace – for his £57,000-a-year accounts manager job. He was responsible for managing the funds for Haberdashers’ schools in South London including Hatcham College and Knights Academy, along with four primaries.
He would work late locked in his office, refusing to share details of the schools’ finances with his bosses, the jury was told.
Kayode was caught when an anonymous whistleblower phoned a new chief financial officer at the schools in 2012, it is alleged.
When he was arrested he had a new Mercedes, a new £40,000 Infiniti luxury car, an Audi TT sports car, at least four properties in Britain and more in Nigeria. He had also made plans to move permanently to Africa with his younger second wife.
He made no comment to ‘each and every’ police question, and is now on trial at Woolwich Crown Court in South London accused of obtaining £150,000 by theft and £3.95million by fraud. Nigeria-born Kayode, a father of four from East London who was also a lay preacher in his church, denies the charges.
Prosecutor James Thacker told the jury: ‘Samuel Kayode used his position to defraud over £4million. It was spent on luxury motor vehicles, property, and sent to Nigeria. His dishonesty and sheer greed is scandalous. It is believed to be Britain’s biggest education fraud.’

A young father was stabbed to death in a red carpet brawl outside upmarket City restaurant Caravaggio because of a row over cloakroom queue-jumping, the Old Bailey heard.

Kabba Kamara, 23, had attended the £20-a-head Red Carpet @ Caravaggio R&B club night for a friend’s birthday when he was stabbed in the abdomen.

Junior Afolayan, 24, is accused of delivering the fatal blow to Mr Kamara during the 3am bust-up outside the Italian restaurant, egged on by brothers Ayodeji and Olatunde Odunyemi.

"There wasn't any trouble during the course of the event in the restaurant until the end," said prosecutor Alan Kent QC.


"It was December and a lot of people all at the same time went to get their coats.

"There was no form of orderly queue around that cloakroom area, and there began to be a little bit of pushing and shoving.

"It's not entirely clear who started it or why it started."

Several eyewitnesses recorded the cloakroom row and the ensuing violence outside on their phones, and it was also caught on the restaurant’s CCTV cameras in Leadenhall Street.

On the footage, played to the court this afternoon, someone shouted "let's go outside" before Afolayan allegedly said "let's go and get the ting".

A bout of "pushing and shoving" broke out on the red carpet outside Caravaggio as the partygoers spilled out of the front door.

During the jostling, a glass Mr Kamara was holding “goes flying”, said Mr Kent, and as the violence escalated, Ayodeji Odunyemi, 24, is seen on camera fighting with Mr Kamara.

His older brother Olatunde 25, then turned to Afolayan and said: "Where's the knife?", the court heard.

Afolayan allegedly ran at Mr Kamara, stabbing him once in the abdomen and causing him to fall back against a street sign.

Mr Kamara, who was born in Sierra Leone, collapsed in the street and died from his injuries just over 24 hours later in hospital.

“Many witnesses didn't see a stabbing, they saw what they described to police as a punch”, said Mr Kent.

“The two groups didn't know each other, it's not as if there was any history between these three defendants and Mr Kamara and any of his friends.

“They just happened to be at the same event that particular night.”

Afolayan, of Wandsworth Road, Clapham, and the Olatunde brothers, both of Loughborough Street, Lambeth, all deny murder and an alternative charge of manslaughter.

The trial continues.

Nigerian football icon Stephen Okechukwu Keshi died suddenly in the early hours of Wednesday in Benin City, Edo state,
The former international football player and coach had lost his wife of 33 years, Kate, last year after a prolonged battle with cancer.

TheCable confirmed his death from a member of his family as well as one of his close associates.

“He was not ill at all, never showed any signs of illness, but we suspect he never got over the death of his wife,” a friend said.


He is survived by four children and his mother.

Keshi, the only Nigerian coach to have won the Africa Cup of Nations, achieved a rare feat in 2013 by becoming only the second person to win the trophy both as a player and a coach.

The only other person to have achieved the feat is Egypt’s Mahmoud El-Gohary.

Keshi, a product of St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Lagos, started his playing career at a very young age at ACB Football Club, and later played for New Nigeria Bank, Stade d’Abidjan, Africa Sports, Lokeren, Anderlecht, RC Strasbourg, and a host of other clubs.

He represented Nigeria from 1982, at age 20, till 1994, most of the time captaining the Super Eagles and scoring vital goals from his position as a central defender.

He also coached Togo and Nigeria at the World Cup, as well as Mali.

Keshi, nicknamed the “Big Boss” for his leadership skills, is the fifth member of the all-conquering 1994 team to die, following Uche Okafor, Thompson Oliha, Rashidi Yekini and Wilfred Agbonavbare

Last weekend, the greatest monarch in Yoruba land Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi paid a visit to footballer Obafemi Martins at his home in Lagos state.
Obafemi then shared a video on his Instagram page showing Oba Adeyeye is in his home.

Isaac Aganozor has leukaemia
A caretaker at one of London’s top public schools has launched a desperate appeal to the Home Office to allow his brother to visit the UK from Nigeria for a life-saving bone-marrow transplant.

Isaac Aganozor, who works at Dulwich College, was diagnosed with leukaemia in August and needs an urgent stem cell transplant from his brother Patrick, who lives with his family in Nigeria.

Patrick, a tricycle courier who earns £2.30 a day, was refused a visa to enter the UK as he did not meet economic requirements. This was despite the £36,000-a-year school offering to sponsor his month-long “mercy mission” and pay £1,500 for his return flight.


His brother Isaac, 44, who lives in Sydenham Hill, is being given regular high-dose chemotherapy sessions at St Bartholomew’s hospital but has been told that “time is running out”.

A search of the national donor database revealed that Patrick, 38, is a 50 per cent match for his brother, and the only realistic hope of his receiving the stem cells in time. Despite a letter from hospital specialists detailing Patrick’s status as the “only available matching donor for the urgent stem cell transplant”, he was refused a visa in April.

A rejection letter from the British High Commission in Lagos, seen by the Standard, reads: “You have stated your brother has acute myeloid leukaemia and you are to be a stem cell donor. I must take into account your personal socio-economic circumstances in Nigeria when reaching my decision. I note that you are a tricycle driver earning £69 a month in Nigeria but you state you have £1,500 for this trip.

“Given your limited economic circumstances in Nigeria I am not satisfied that these provide you with an incentive to leave the UK at the end of your stay as claimed.” Mr Aganozor, who has been off sick from work since December, said there is no danger that his brother will try to stay in the UK after the transplant as he has to care for his four-year-old daughter and ailing mother in Lagos.

He said: “I was so happy when I found out that my brother was a match. But when his application was rejected it was a bigger shock than getting told I had leukaemia in the first place. The immigration officers didn’t consider my health, only economics. It is incredibly frustrating to know that the solution that could save my life is only six hours away by plane. I feel the sickness inside me, I don’t know what to do. My life is gradually slipping away.”

Simon Yiend, chief operating officer at Dulwich College, where Mr Aganozor has worked since April last year, said: “Isaac is a quietly spoken, hard-working man who gets on with his job incredibly well. I’m appalled by the Home Office’s decision.

“It is essentially because Patrick is a poor man that he can’t come across to do the only thing he wants to do — save his brother’s life.

“I understand the concerns around immigration and people who want to take advantage of our system, but Patrick wants to go back to his family in Nigeria straight after the operation.

“Nigeria was part of the Commonwealth yet we don’t allow an individual in on humanitarian grounds for a mercy mission — it is disgusting.”

Helen Hayes, the Labour MP for Dulwich and West Norwood, has held discussions with immigration minister James Brokenshire. But she was told a priority appeal for a new visa is necessary, which will require the involvement of specialist immigration lawyers.

She said: “I’m appalled that the Home Office is showing so little flexibility and compassion.

“I am doing everything possible to press the Home Office to consider the new application as a matter of urgency, so that Patrick can travel before Isaac’s health deteriorates further.”

The Home Office confirmed: “All cases are carefully considered on their individual merits and the onus is on the individual to provide the necessary supporting evidence to meet the UK immigration rules. We are sensitive to cases with compassionate circumstances but all visa applications must be assessed against the immigration rules. The applicant is free to submit a new application with supporting evidence.”

Lamido’s Trial: EFCC Presents Additional Proof, More documentary evidence
More documentary evidence were on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 presented by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to further back up its claim against former Jigawa governor, Sule Lamido for allegedly defrauding the state to the tune of N1.35billion.

Lamido and his accomplices are being prosecuted on a 27-count charge by the EFCC before Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja.

He allegedly abused his position as governor between 2007 and 2015 by awarding contracts to companies where he had interest, using his two sons as fronts.

At the resumed trial today, PW18, Micheal Wetkas, an operative of the EFCC, further presented additional documentary evidence alluding to the fact that, the state funds were laundered while Lamido held sway as the governor of the state.

Some of the documents by the PW18 while being led in evidence by counsel to EFCC, Chile Okoroma include; sub-contract documents, including bank payment vouchers from Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company, invoices, waybills and cheques in favor of two more companies - Speeds International Ltd and Gada Construction Company.

The documents were admitted as exhibits EFCC 151 (a-d) to EFCC 195(a-d), EFCC 196 and EFCC 197 (a-d) to EFCC 252(a-f).

Recalling some of the details he had given as testimony, Wetkas said that, in a bid to confirm if those contracts really existed and were executed, the 9th defendant, one Mr. Bartholomew Agoha, the manager of the three companies involved, was invited to the EFCC for questioning.

According to him, "Mr Bartholomew Agoha, who initially said that, he had signed the proposals for the sub-contracts sent to Dantata and Sawoe and was responsible for the supply of diesel, bitumen and steel iron wrought, suddenly changed his testimony upon further interaction. He later denied knowledge of the contracts and deliveries, saying that he was only invited to Dantata & Sawoe to receive the contract documents and append his signatures to them.

“Further probes by the investigation and forensic team of the EFCC eventually revealed non-existent records and doctored journals at Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company from 2007 – 2013”, Wetkas stated.

The PW18 further told the court that, the forensic team analysed the hard disk of the computer from which the journals had been generated. The subsequent report revealed that computer entries for transactions which purportedly took place between 2010 - 2013 was discovered to be made in 2014-2015, only after investigations into the questionable transactions had commenced.

“Although waybills in the vouchers presented before court suggested that the products were delivered to the Kano yard of Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company, one Ibrahim Mahmoud and Adamu Isa, employees of Dantata and Sawoe, who were responsible for collection of all supplies at the Kano Yard between 2007-2013 denied ever hearing of or receiving supplies from the said companies”, Wetkas said.

According to him, the position of the investigation is that, those items were never delivered and the contracts never executed.

Wetkas further told the court how Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company received a total sum of about N1.2bn, through their Access Bank account, from the Jigawa State government between 2008 and 2009, and subsequently made a payment of N14.850m to one of the defendant's companies.

He said that another N1.5billion had been received by Dantata and Sawoe, through their Sterling Bank account. The company subsequently made payments of N33m, N24m and N29m into the accounts of Speeds International Ltd, Bamaina Holdings Ltd and Gada Construction Limited respectively, two accounts which have as their sole signatory, the first defendant, Alhaji Sule Lamido, and another account with the third defendant, Mustapha Sule Lamido, as its sole signatory.

The witness went on to describe how further payments were made to Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company from the Jigawa State government through the company's Zenith Bank account though, Lamido’s counsel, Joe Agi, SAN, objected to the manner in which the witness was giving oral evidence to support the bank statements of Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company which he said had already been admitted in evidence.

Thereafter, Justice Ademola adjourned to June 2, 2016 for further hearing.

Former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the General Sani Abacha, Major Hamzat Al-Mustapha, has described the raging noise about Abacha’s loot by successive governments as a hoax and deliberate attempt by some powerful individuals to smear his name even in death.
Al-Mustapha who made the declaration at a media interaction at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, yesterday, explained that the monies being talked about were kept in foreign accounts to stave off the threat of sanction against the then military government by the international community in order that Nigeria could remain afloat....

The decision to do this, he said, was taken after due consultations with the relevant stakeholders. “During the time of Abacha, sanctions were threatened upon Nigeria. And at the request of some notable Nigerians, including traditional rulers, key politicians, and businessmen from the North and South, some modalities were taken to allow some monies to be saved in some foreign accounts abroad so that when sanctions come, that money will be able to keep Nigeria afloat. At that time, Chief Tom Ikime, was the foreign affairs minister.
“These stakeholders can still testify to what that money was meant for. And I can remember many of the big men who attended the Abuja meeting where this decision was taken. They were many that the council hall in the Villa could not contain them. There are many big men you can ask to get all these issues.
“The lodgments will show whether those monies were kept in his name before he became Head of State, and whether the monies were kept in his name after he became Head of State,” he added.

According to the Sun news, He accused those he described as untouchable Nigerians who Abacaha had to deal with in the face of the mounting opposition against his government of being responsible for the smear campaign.
“Gen Abacaha is dead, but those on whose toes he had stepped upon decided to invest in smearing his name. In Nigeria, over the decades, there were some Nigerians who were bigger than the law, bigger than security agencies, bigger than government in Nigeria. But during Abacha’s tenure, in the course of trying to remove him from office violently, Abacha had to defend himself and he allowed the law to take its course. Some notable Nigerians were arrested, they were tried and they never took it in good faith. They have still not forgiven Abacha even at death,” he declared.

According to him, the establishment of PTF (Petroleum Trust Fund) still remains a good testimony of the vision and prudency Abacha brought into the management of the nation’s resources during his regime.
“A that time, oil was $7 yet policies were taken, including PTF so that Nigeria could grow. Little as I was then, I created PTF and it worked,” he said.
Al-Mustapha challenged former President Olusegun Obasanjo to explain to Nigeria what he did with over $7 billion left behind by the late Abacha.
